Since absolutely nobody asked, I figured I'd share my take.

I really don't want to see BT messing with our industry. Despite its lack of political kung-fu, the industry the way it stands now works fairly well.

That being said, here's what my crystal ball tells me. BT is going to sit on the sidelines while the FDA and pharma picks the e-cig industry to pieces. If we go down in flames, BT goes on killing people just as before. If we survive, BT simply jumps into the game, probably via acquisition (even the biggest of e-cig companies are chump change to any major tobacco company). They then simply out-compete and squeeze the small players out of the market.

Then that's when things get interesting. I doubt however it goes down we'll ever see actual e-liquid. If BT did get into the market they'd probably sell either disposables or strictly pre-filled cartos I would guess. Less liability (no risk of kids or dogs drinking e-liquid) and higher revenue. Also, for fans of flavors outside of cigarette style tobaccos, yeah, not so much of those.

Pessimistic? Sure is, but that's the scenario I see, and the next front in the war after we're done with the anti-smoking camps. The question is what do we do to keep the industry vibrant enough to compete with gigantic competitors.

Well here's the rub;
1) BT would have to refit they're shop to make e-liquid, they've just spent several millions to come up with fake snus, so to go into e-liquid would cut into executive raises and bonus'. That ain't gonna happen

2) The regulation they're under is on paper only, and if they don't like it, it gets overturned. The first thing they would do is either a) add chemicals to make it more addictive or b) make it so weak it could only be used as a hold over until you can smoke again like the snus they make.

Major corporations are not interested in consumer satisfaction or health any more, they're in it for the money.

I think you pretty much nailed it.

Well I believe the whole point of taxing the crap out of cigarettes is for people to stop smoking because of the health hazards. Maybe it would be different for e cig juices, considering snus is much cheaper than cigarettes, and chewing tobacco.

I understand that some people think they tax them so high for the money, but if the government really wanted to make money they could just put a heavy tax on food, something people need to live, rather than cigarettes, which people die from.

:D

Sorry to wake you bro, the government couldn't care less about our health, maybe they did at first but that would have been until the Tobacco industry waved a couple of millions in their face to quit whining...
You wanna see the true colors of the government ? ask yourself why we are still driving petrol cars ? you could run a car on water if you wanted to (we actually do have that technology)...
Why are they spending millions on war when they could solve half of Africa's problems at half the cost in half the time it would take them to build a bomb?
I'm not one to get into politics but I genuinely salute those '99%ers' out there protesting on our behalf.

Hopefully as somebody else here mentioned by the time the tax man get's involved we won't even need nicotine in our vapor.

ALSO

The answer is simple, convert as many people as you can, this month I have converted around 12 people , it's very simple I deliberately vape alongside smokers, they see the blue LED and think it's a toy or give a vague wtf??? look... I give them the whole Cigs contain 4000 chemicals bla bla bla , tell them that it's like the best thing EVER !!
and finally, You don't beleive me ??? here try it ... Cherry flavor .... (target tries a puff) .... You feel the throat hit ???.... "OMG you're right !!! I can't beleive it, it feels just like a cig, I'm gonna order it !!!

It's that simple, people only believe something when they see / experience it for themselves, word of mouth spreads very fast with eCigs I have noticed, so .... just imagine the way those Youtube videos go viral on Facebook etc.... Same concept exactly and by the time the tobacco industry will want to get involved there will be enough vapers to have an impact so huge that it will leave a very big dent in their income and it will be the juicers that will have the power.

Light will prevail ! :D

I was very comforted by the thought that petrol was to run out soon until I then found out that America just found a load more on their own soil ....

Looks like petrol cars are here to stay as far as the near future is concerned.

Your right, the government hates us. They tax us on cigarettes. Soon families will not be able to pay their taxes on their cigarettes and they will go bankrupt.

This is an urgent crisis. If the american people can't smoke cigarettes because they are too expensive then what kind of world do we live in?

We live in a country where you can no longer smoke cigarettes in a restaurant... It's so sad. If people can't afford cigarettes what can they do? Quit? God forbid...

I'd still like to think that the government taxes cigarettes because they do not want to spend a lot of money on people's healthcare for lung cancer treatments. If you tax something very high, kick people out of buildings for smoking, eventually people will quit.

The percentage of people who smoke has decreased over the years.

C'mon, what does being able to drive a car on water have to do with high taxes on cigarettes?

Life isn't so bad... If you want a car that runs on water, make one yourself. Why are you waiting for someone else to make one?

BTW I'm not for tobacco industries making e-liquid, I make my own.

There are chemicals in an e-juice/vapor. Don't fool yourselves about it. Just none considered to be harmful in their current uses. Current use does not include being vaporized instantaneously under high heat! Let's be honest we really don't know if vaping is harmful or not. And remember, the FDA did analyze them and found that users are exposed to carcinogens and one sample contained diethylene glycol and I don't feel the FDA was shaddy in their testing. If anything, the e-cig industry is the side splitting hairs and it's to their detriment because it shows that the e-cig industry probably doesn't know what it's talking about. That's why the FDA is sticking their noses into it. And of course $$

Common sense is really all that is needed. Carcinogens are all around us. Even in our food, even in foods natural form. Exposure is the issue.

For goodness sake there is a commercial from one e-cig seller that says it's just water vapor!!!
