I feel like I've really been a fool to avoid these as much as I have, this one I got now looks really cool, I like it :D

I love that line .... I knew that is how you would feel but its hard to tell folks something until they see if for themselves. As far as holding it I was going to make some wise ... comment about your cell phone being rectangular ... but I refrained.

Thankfully you took the plunge .... its all gravy from here on out.

BTW, I don't think there is one person in REO history that didn't open up his/her first REO and go .......
Dammm this is smaller than I thought :D

Congrats again !!

well I've been using this and it's now official, I was def a fool, this thing is really cool :)

I'm not thrilled with the squonk hole placement but not really much trouble dealing with it, with the Vmod I could just hold it comfortably in one hand, vape, then squonk, then vape then squonk, all as it sat in my hand. with the reo I can't squonk it as I hold it in my vape position and wind having to either flip it a bit in my hand to squonk or more often squonk it with a finger from my other hand but this hasn't really been a huge nuisance, more just a minor inconvenience.

def a quality feel in my hand and a quality look and a great vape, I'm over the whole it's to much like a square box feeling, it looks professional and discreet, not as much of an odd looking thing to pull out and vape in front of a customer as pulling out some big long tube mod. I've always agreed with the whole side by side configuration, almost bought a sidewinder, like the format of the Vmod but not necessarily the cheap toys are us construction, what I really want to get my hands on is a sticker for the semovar and kayfun for a side by side config on that but almost impossible to find. I'm not in love with the whole tube format really but up until now it's been a good tool for the job at least, I'd love to convert more towards the whole side by side format and I think I can def see more reo's in my future.

I am getting a little seepage from below the atty, I know an o ring should take care of it but honestly I'm really not liking this rm2 atty so much anyway, I really want to find a good stainless steel atty and get rid of the rm2. I do like the screw on cover of the rm2 and I really do like the compact size, just not really feeling the whole chrome plated brass part of it, this atty in stainless steel would be killer though. does anyone know of a really good compact stainless steel atty with a screw on cover? I thought about fitting my igo L but after using the rm2 I'd rather not go back to a non screw on atty cover. I need a really good ss compact atty

also wondering if anyone could tell me the height difference between the grand and the vv grand? I'd really like to build one of these with a dna20. my 2 thoughts are to either gut a vv grand and fit it inside or just make an aluminum base that fits to the bottom of a regular grand, curious as to how much taller the vv grand is

I've been looking around at attys and I thinking of the aero vapes from Germany, just not so sure how that bottom airflow will work out without leaking? anyone try this atty? also the cyclone vicious ant looks good but not sure if that's an o ring top cap or screw on cap? maybe an A7? still looking I guess :)

The cyclone is a push on cap ... a good one but still push on.

The only thing that would meet your requirement I know of is the Mark Bugs Chalice ..... ( I have two and they are the best)
They are also hard as heck to get ... it took me 7-8 months to score my second one. Fist one cost me 160 bucks and second I think 185 ......

That delema is exactly whay Rob created the RM2 ..... So folks could have a good screw cap bottom fed atty at a reasonable cost and almost always available.

Sooooo your two options are IMO .... search for a used Chalice ..... or suck it up with the RM2 :)

Two Chalice attys are on the Cocobolo Woodvils :D Cyclone is on the Black mini

And Kayfun on the Silver Sidewinder .... Damm good vape ...damm good.

The BF Cyclone is nice but I haven't been able to get mine to vape nearly as well as the RM2. I dunno why...I've thrown identical micros in it and just can't get the same experience (vapor, flavor...it may have something to do with the difference between steel and a ceramic base). The AFC cap is wonderous but doesn't fit on the Reo. However, if you want to throw it on a mechanical tube and do dual coils you will not be disappointed.

The cap is push on and very sturdy and the atty screws down perfectly with the posts lined up just right. I don't like the hex screws...one has already stripped thanks to some stubborn Rene 41 and I have to use pliers to tighten it.

The Cyclone is very nice but I suggest experimenting a little more with the RM2. It is by far one of the best atty's I've used.

crash, does the cyclone have the same size air hole as your rm2? the cyclone sounds interesting with the adjustable air flow, I'm sure I can make it fit with that cap, but is it a good all stainless atty? is the center firing pin stainless or copper/brass?

I think I'm sensitive to brass and copper, I swear I can actually taste the brass in the rm2, it makes me grind my teeth and gives a metallic taste to my vape. the center pin is exposed brass right in the juice pipeline. I drilled the air hole to /16th and theirs brass there too, I'm also sensitive like this to the rene wire and nicrome, a metallic taste and a sensation in my teeth that causes me to grind my teeth, I don't really like this if I can help it, so I really want just all stainless steel with no brass atty.

I decided to put my new dna20 module in the reo today and make it into a 7-20 watt variable mod instead of a mechanical. 20 watts is not a whole lot but it is enough for a pretty good vape, I could always leave my next grand mechanical for the higher wattage vapes but the dna20 will give me much more usable battery capacity in this one, as a mech I feel like I want to change the battery when it winds up getting to only about half way down, but the dna should let me use up to 90% of the batteries capacity before a noticeable drop in power. I had considered buying a VV grand and gutting it to stick the dna in there but I learned from my last dna build that the dna doesn't like juice all over it, so by putting it in the bottom instead I'll be able to keep it away from juice, actually I think I might be able to fully waterproof it down there, would be nice to keep the reo submergible if I could.

well, my smooth reo stayed black for only a day and a half :) , I would have kept it black but doing this mod kind of killed that idea, I had to refinish it to get my dna extension completely flush to the reo, the reo has a bevel all around it's edges and I had to machine a lot of that smooth, my 2 side seems are not perfect because I didn't want to make the sides of the reo much thinner than I had to, and those bottom corner bevels were pretty deep. I may go back and fix those 2 side seems eventually but it's not so bad as-is for now. I'm going to wire it up and finish converting it tomorrow night, tonight and tomorrow all day I'm still using it mechanical, wanted to keep it functional until I have the time to fully convert it. here are some pics. the extension is stainless steel. I will replace those screws with flat heads, I may do some side grip insert things on this too, not sure exactly how I want to finish it off yet, going to use it like this a bit and decide :)

one cool thing is now the door can't slide down, only up :)

still much smaller than my other mods, but being polished it fits in better, still needs more polishing though :)

and this is how I hold it, still fits in my hand even with the extension

I think I'm going to keep the adjustment knob for the variable wattage inside the door compartment so I can't accidentally vary the wattage while it's in my pocket.

The nice thing about the DNA20 is that you pretty much eliminate vdrop to the atty. I have attys on mechs with low ohm coils that I thought were great and then I put them on a DNA mod at 20 watts and have to turn it down or recoil. I can get a DNA mod to outperform a mech in every senerio, at least for me. I usually find I can run coils in 1-1.5 ohm range on a DNA mod and achive a similar vape as a sub ohm mech setup.

Can't wait to see how the Reo with DNA turns out!!! Looking great so far.

a good mech with good clean contacts and a good switch setup should be able to deliver the same power, problem is that as soon as you clean all the contacts the whole oxidation procedure begins again immediately, so performance will drop as oxidation builds up, especially in the switch. this is why some high ends use silver or brass plated contacts, silver and gold don't oxidise nearly as much or as quickly as most other metals. this is also why using something like nolox helps too, it coats and prevents oxidation quite a bit

the dna 20 uses an on board electrical relay so all of the making and breaking of contact is handled internally with this electronic switch, as long as your battery contacts are clean and the wiring used is adequate the dna20 should be more consistent and reliable contact vs a mechanical switch, the mech switch itself is usually the weakest link there

Ok, so I have some sterling silver from jewellery hobby (many years ago). Can I make a more effective switch with that?

as a contact, yes. a sterling silver contact will not oxidize much and remain a clean contact much longer, and then clean easier too when it does come time to clean. you of course have to get a really good contact from your silver tab to whatever it's connecting to as well, resistance all comes down to the weakest link, each weak link adds up to more total resistance.

I took the whole reo apart tonight to convert it to electronic ignition but was unable to finish it, I winded up having to make a new firing pin to feed the 510 connection to the atty because the stock firing pin turns out is chrome plated brass too, and I'd rather have all stainless steel in the juice path, no brass. I needed to make my own switch to get it to be exactly how I need it to be too. still some work to do to finish it up. the reo is so well made that I can't really do any butcher work on it, it has to be a very clean install to maintain the integrity and neatness and durability of the reo, I don't want to hack it up, I want it to be precise and high quality so it's going to take a little while longer, making my own switch from scratch and having everything fit there cleanly is a bit tricky. I'll put up a thread with all the details when the whole conversion is complete

almost finished, used it a bit tonight for the first time... it's pretty sweet. I'll put up a thread soon when it's all done but here's a peak. this mod will allow much more usable battery capacity while giving consistent level power. combined with squonking this is so sweet, haven't had it a week and already i'm all the way to the point of absolutely loving my reo  :)
