I've moved around the world quite a lot. Last time I visited Izu peninsula, Japan I had a thought moving there some day. I used to live there for some time in 90th. Nature is fantastic, people are the nicest in Japan :) But there's no jobs there... Other dream places include Thunder Bay on the lake Superior and New Zealand but I've never been there, have to go and see.

I was born and raised in Thunder Bay.

:)

Wierd to see someone wanting to go there...most want to leave.

But it has it's pluses. Low cost of living for sure.

That's funny. I think I'd enjoy a remote place (grew up in countryside Western Ukraine myself). But I have had to stick to downtowns to make money. Hope this will change some day (and hope I will still be enjoying it ;)) Oh, and my childhood place with a little house on the hill by the river is another possibility :)

would also like to live in the middle of nowhere in the woods surviving.

That's not me. I like my cable/internet/toilet, etc too much. I would just like to live far enough away from the city that I could enjoy some quiet solitude surrounded by nature. I had it down to Anchorage or Juneau, but I think in the end Anchorage will win out. Bigger city = more job opportunities.
