I wasn't saying regulation would make anything safer but would let the consumer know what is in it. Allot of people seem to be thinking the worst will happen when that is not always the case. Just sitting back saying we are screwed is probably the worst thing that can be done. Best to think positive and help come up with ideas to make things work for us all :)

All this administrations past actions, combined with the known actions of Big Pharm, Big tobacco and the ANTZ's (funded by Big Pharm), do not leave any doubt that if they can ban or severely restrict our ability to vape, they will. It's better to face reality, become active and get all of us to ban together and fight now than just sit back and hope and pray.

I took the time to read the link the OP provided at Post #1 .. don't really see anything bad in there that most here on ECF don't already know .. it's business .. companies exist to profit .. we supply that profit by using the product .. if we don't buy, there is no profit ..

The cig-a-like market is where the money will be made ..

I don't think Lorillard would spend 135 Million to buy Blu with the Hopes that Future regulations will go their way.

They bought Blu because they knew Exactly what the Future Regulations would be/are.

This is faulty logic on its face. They certainly didn't win the battle with the big lawsuits the gov't won. I suspect they have some insight (they are the same people arguing with FDA about Menthol in cigarettes) but I doubt any guarantees exist. They took a reasoned business gamble. These companies have to do something. When companies become profitable vice very profitable they usually start looking for future markets. The good news is that it seems to be us. The bad news is that we're in their sights again.

Sometimes we get a little irrational about BT around here. The vast majority of us have been (or were) supporting them for years. The risks of tobacco haven't been a secret for a long time as in decades. I've seen some pretty tall horses going by.

I read the article also. It indicates the strategy that BT plans to take. It is to provide fear mongering about our un-regulated vaping community. Once the battlefield has been properly conditioned it will provide cover for the congressmen and senators that BT has bought and paid for all these years to start passing regulations. Regulations that somehow BT will be able to abide by but will be completely out of the reach of the small vendors we rely on. Then soon one day our current vendors start going out of business one by one. Unable to clear the numerous hurdles that the BT owned congress critters have so helpfully implemented, then that day you will get to drive to the local 7-11 and choose from the selection of cig-a-likes, all provided by BT.
It is just business. But it's a business where one side owns all the chips and will provide the rules they wish us to play by.

I don't see any of that as a surprise .. business has operated that way for centuries ..

No one would care if they just marketed their vastly inferior product and stayed out of the political arena. The point is they are working diligently to make their product the ONLY vaping option through regulation.

If you are fine with only having Blu like products to vape with, you are in the vast minority.

I hear you.... They even mention the energy drink which a few big name cola outfits bought out the key players and lobbied to regulate all the rest right out of business. Do you know beer can only be bottled in certain sized bottles in the US? They passed the regulation stating it was to keep bottlers from confusing the public. All just for us dummies... Mean while that keeps 99 percent of the worlds beers from being imported because they don't use the sizes regulated. Regulations are never for the good of the public...They are alway to protect the fortune 500.

Actually having ecigs go the way of beer seems like a decent future. Sure Miller and AB would love to control all beer sales and the profits that would entail, but the consumer still has a huge amount of choice. Shelves are filled with brands from small breweries, not to mention local breweries that are too small to distribute nationally.

The Lorillard piece looks to me like propaganda meant to justify to retailers why they should sell an inferior product at an inflated price. It's not hard to imagine how many operators have been told where they can put their Blu after their customers discover good electronic cigarettes. I'm sure management is aware of this feedback. What is uncertain is what they will do about it. So far, big advertising budgets and this type of propaganda have made Blu the leader. Let's hope they leave it at that.

I wonder if vendors will just adapt like the other "smoke" shops when they tried to regulate them.

Re-label devices as vaporizers and juice as incense or something. Just by re-naming things they are legally something different, I think. Also, how can they stop me from making my own juice? I could make a PV from flashlight parts.

I think we have too much momentum at this point to stop us. At least I hope so.

Faulty Logic?

Which sound like Faulty Logic to you.

A company spending 135 Million to get into a New Market Not Knowing how it will be Regulated? And what products Will and Won't be able to be Sold.

Or a Company Spending 135 Million Knowing what the Future Regulation are going to be and how they will Fit Into those Regulations?

I think you are looking at the Concept of e-Cigarette/e-Liquid Regulations as something that Isn't Finalized Yet. And is somewhat Up in the Air Still.

It has been Finalized and Agreed upon by all the Players for Quite some time. Now we are just in the Phase where Procedural Issues like perhaps a Public Comment or a Review needs to be done to make it Law. It Isn't going to change the Outcome. That was decided Long Ago. But Procedures still need to be Followed.

And so what if a BP or BT funded a Lawsuit that lost. It didn't cost them anything really to file it. Throw it out there, maybe you'll will get Lucky. Stranger things have happened in Court.

I'm pretty sure I understand the point .. my point, if you missed it, is that business exists to make money .. if politics furthers that cause, why is that a revelation .. ??

As well, the majority prefer and want a cig-a-like ..

I'm not saying I'm one of them, however, reality is what it is ..

Yep first qtr Blu revs= $39 mill. Next/ latest qtr Blu revs= $57 million. Lorillard is really pushing Blu hard to squeeze out profits "ANY" way possible. For most Vendors this is a passion intermingled with a sense of business. With Lorillard it's all business and profit. A major part of the profit picture is in forming an alliance with the FDA. Coincidental that just before the ongoing FDA discussions Lorillard buys out a major Ecig player. IMHO I believe they underpaid for Blu given the future potential IMHO.

Also all these sites you buy your supplies/ ejuice from...all the BT would have to do is say these simple words to the public "Your kids are in danger from being highly addicted to nicotine, can even die from a simple bottle of this so called ejuice" All these kids have to do is say they are over 18 by a few clicks and have nicotine sent right to them without you even knowing.

Tell me that wouldnt cause a crazed mothers against nicotine rally..

If they feel enough of a threat, they will take drastic measures. Ecigs will never be safe as long as they are in the free market.

Anyone can buy Ajax or Comet cleanser via amazon with a few clicks. It's also highly toxic.

I think that in a Free Market, 135 Million sounds about Right. Seeing that it is an "Entry" e-Cigarette. And that their Core Base are New Vapers.

But in a Regulated Market, where say Liquid Nicotine Products are Not Allowed, or Severely Limited, and Pre-Filled Cartos are the Norm, then I think 135 Million was a Very Wise Choice.

But Of Course. This would Depend on a company like Lorillard Knowing in Advance what the FDA is going to do.

You ban Ajax and Comet and you Don't satisfy any Group. In fact, all you will do is Piss Off a Bunch of People.

You Ban the sale of Liquid e-Liquids and the ANTZ will feel that they have Scored a Victory.

Maybe not a Complete Victory.

Because a Complete Victory would be a Complete Ban on e-Cigarettes, and that Can't happen because then we Can't Tax them. But a Victory None the Less.
