Guys this is classic market manipulation.
Rule #1: demand must always exceed supply.
Strong marketing and low production numbers ensure this.
This is a very very common practice by small specialty companies in every industry.

Remember not to fall for marketing and understand the value of the item you buy.
A battery tube isn't worth a car payment to me.

If you aren't familiar with the story of Amsterdam and the Tulip, google the topic.

It's just a battery tube and a button switch

far away...
I do not think this is the case here: the guy is a craftsman who started out with flashlights and produces everything himself locally with a few machines and egg cartons...

We are not in a Chinese factory, so the production capacity would necessarily be lower; and demand is high because the product is good and it is the only one less than 100 bucks.
The only marketing that I see here is that he had the idea of offering anodizing, so colors.

If it was just a battery tube and a button switch, people would trade Caravelas against Maglites.

look at the kayfun massive amounts of these hit the market every month, even many clones now available, still they sell out in a few days.

Almost everyone forgets it's a very big world out there and the people we see in the ECF community is but a very very small part of the worldwide vaping community. several countries have forums just as crowded as this one. all those people want the same products we do.

this argument is getting worn out lately. noone seems to think how long it takes to do all this stuff by themselves.
ok over the next few days they will mill tubes, 50 to be exact.. now for a week they will mill switch parts and end caps. then the caps need to be tapped and the pins inserted after they sit and plate them for a couple hours. then switches assembled, now the tubes need to be sanded/buffed then anodized with the proper color selections. while thats happening it's time to cut the tank windows into the top tubes. ok time to assemble everything then test them all, now they need to take pictures and prepare the shipping materials.

oh while they are at it they might want to eat, sleep, pay the bills, run their private life and do some laundry. then they need to run to the machine shop for more CNC parts, and while they are out maybe pay the electric bill so it keeps running.

many times people think yea i went to work today got paid and could make one of these in a couple hours for cheap, I keep telling everyone who complains - do it, prove it can be done for next to nothing, see what the reviewers say, see how many sell. then tell me how little you would be willing to do all that work for.

Thrasher-
I'm NOT being confrontational. I get it.
I have a "hand blown functional glass art" collection that has been featured in magazines.
I used to set up demos at trade shows for artist.

But creating a high demand for a Niche market is business 101 and I am not convinced anyone smart enough to manufacture mods isn't aware of exactly how to maintain brand value.

It boils down to this:
If you are paying for aesthetics, then the sky is your limit.
It's worth what you are willing to pay.

If you are paying for quality and functionality then it is obviously a matter of production costs on a very basic electronic system.
I built my first pass through on my third day of vaping.
How much DOES it cost to thread a tube and wire a switch and connector?
I understand business and I accept it.
Doesn't mean I personally would drop 300$+ on a mechanical unless I wanted it for the artistic aspect.
But that's just me

All that said I'm all for paying a higher cost for original art.
