Thanks guys! I try my damnedest to post the mumbo jumbo in layman's terms, but at times I even fail that. This convo reminds me of some of the convos VM, WW and I exchanged last summer - absolutely invigorating 
@ 5card didn't want to confuse the issue any more than it was LOL which of course the Provari uses or any other VV device that uses a single 3.7V battery. The chief advantage of boost circuitry is that you are using a single cell vs stacking batts. OTOH battery life sucks, but there is always a price to pay for performance.
