I can change a carto in about 5 sec. I just put the adapter in each end of the carto and push the tank from one to the other. Don't even have to empty the tank.

Yeah, but it takes a bit to prime it. I can recoil my KFL from scratch to vape in maybe 2-3 minutes, including building the coil. The cartos don't soak up juice fast enough to get a perfect prime that quickly, even if you drip/shake, drip/shake, drip... oh dear... Kat, there's a softball for ya. :D If I'm just rewicking... I can put in a new wick, prime it & have it reassembled in 20 seconds tops.

I have 2 KFL's & plan on getting a 3rd. I had 5 IBT's, but I sold 2 & bought a new 1 (getting rid of my 19mm's, buying 22's) & I plan on getting 1 or 2 more.

Edit: Just saying that rebuildables don't have to be about tinkering & making things complicated. They have that option of course... and for 'better'... whatever fad those kids are doing is going to be toted as the best, whether it's subohming or microcoils or whatever they think up next. Doesn't mean it actually is (I haven't seen one of those fads that is yet), but that's the way they're going to spin it.

I've got convenience covered a few times over already :) I have plenty more I didn't list (my grandfather was a Marine & got me started pretty early in life). Although the P229 will probably move my current daily carry to a backup carry, everything else on the list are just toys to fill in the blanks.

And I knew what you meant about what was "220"... you just missed my joke about loading you up in a trebuchet :D

Duh. Never mind. I'm the doofus.

I have 2 KFL+s that I absolutely love. But I love my cartotanks too. The KFL's are actually less hassle than a cartotank, but I'm not fiddling with it or chasing whatever fad these kids think up next. I can build a coil, install it, wick it, prime it & fill the tank faster than I can change a carto. The wicks last as long as an Iken & the coils... I couldn't tell ya... I've put several wicks through this latest coil & it's going strong. All for pennies. The $100 up front is pretty heavy (but fair), and when you consider the cost savings between that & a carto tank, it catches up pretty quickly.

Just out of curiosity, Oz, how DO you change your cartos?

I use a tank tool like the Slap Yo Mama (just a cheaper Delrin one that I got before Big Daddy started making them), or I hot swap them. I used to plug the hole with a toothpick, drip & shake it down into the carto multiple times until the top stays slushy... which takes a couple minutes.

Now I do it the lazy way which takes longer but is less involved - I have enough tanks that I'm never in a hurry. I sorta use the Thingy method - they way it's described (crank down on it a dozen or so times) makes the carto flood before it's all the way primed - so I figured out if you pop the cap on the Thingy just right you'll get one big bubble, then every second or two a little bubble... but if you leave it alone, it'll just keep bubbling. Ever once in a while, I'll give it a jump to keep it going. When it won't bubble anymore, I finish it off the old fashioned way.. but since the Thingy got it 3/4's primed it only takes 3 or 4 drip/shakes to top it off.

That wasn't what I was comparing a speed build to, just the way I do it now since I really don't care how long it takes me to fully prime it.... same with the KFL builds... I've timed myself at just over 2 minutes, I could probably do it in 90 seconds... but I'm typically not doing it for speed. I was comparing the fastest possible way to do either... and I could build a coil slightly faster than I could prime a carto, using the fastest method possible for both.

Not that it really matters, it was more to point out that not every RBA build has to be some "innovative" quad coil, .5 ohm, squirrel shaped, wicked in a mandala pattern build. RBA's can be just as easy as a carto tank. I gots love for both. (and personally I think those cloud chasing, subohming, "innovators" really need to find something productive to do with their time - but whatever floats their boat I guess)

Thanks. I'm a SYM guy too, so I was just wondering. I'll admit that you take much more care doing yours than I do mine. Not a bad thing, that. As I've often indicated here, I break stuff. Not proud of it either - I assure you

Let's just say patterns, repetition & having a critical eye for detail come very, very naturally to me.

The 5 sec. includes priming. Just give it 2 or 3 hard puffs and vape on. I challenge anyone to hook up one of those attys faster than I can change a carto and start vaping. If I change it on an empty tank the pressure of pushing the top back on primes the carto too but that way takes me longer. I've been doing this a long time too though.

I use a SYM too, and prefer to punch my own cartos. Since I keep 3 PVs going I'm rarely in a hurry either so I punch, fill with about 20 drops, tank it and dry pull like J5.

Clumsy you say? I cracked ribs on the stair banister last year by missing a step. A few years before that I broke two little piggies while playing chase with my dog, stubbed those toes on the sofa leg  Grace is not my middle name!

Evening Ikenpeople!

:pop:

Think I'll just stand here and watch the challenge.... unless someone needs a cheerleader... (pom poms optional)

Can't get any easier even with juice in the tank.
