Cat you get fined because when you're in bear country you're not supposed to have anything in your car that would entice the bear to break into it.

At Yosemite you have to watch a video about the bears. They say they have to put down the bears if they break in. I searched and searched for for anything, gun, chapstick, mints..... OK I know, I have too much sheeet in my car![]()
I can't get it to load either. I don't know what they say to the public, but I know what they do. Relocating problem bears has never worked... they just keep coming back. It sucks, but that's what happens when we encroach on their land.
I don't remember if I mentioned it, but last fall our owner got called down to the bakery in the middle of the night. We had a sow & 2 cubs having a buffet in the walk-in. Had to spray them down to get them out of there. Between the bears & the spray, the contents of the entire cooler had to be trashed. They got trapped & put down a week later. Now we have a big ... chain across the door. I'm sure it'd slow them down, but I'm guessing a very determined & hungry bear could still get in.
Standard procedure at the bakery last night... Open door just enough to see the back porch. Wait. Wait. Wait. Sprint for the cooler. Run like hell back inside. Slam door.![]()
All we've got is a measly coyote.
I winterized today. House is ready. Owner is far-from-it.
Happy Saturday, Isaacville!
If you're talking about a bear that hangs around a campground, sure they'll move him. I'm talking about the ones that have learned that dumpsters = food. That cars = food. That our walk-in = food. Once they learn that, it can't be unlearned. They could haul that bear to the other side of Helena & it'll be back next week. Their homing instincts are unbelievable.
It's not the bears fault. They're just being bears. Snow's falling, it's time to fatten up & that means play find the food. They don't know any better. The key is to train the people. Our dumpster is bear-proof. Not everyone else in town will spring the extra money for one. People leave sheet in their cars. People litter. We're a small village in the heart of bear country... there are going to be bears around no matter what. They'll be curious & snoop around, no matter what. The difference is if they find anything. The people are the ones that need to be more responsible. Unfortunately that's not happening, or going to happen, in Big Sky. Most of the locals are pretty good about it, but for every local we have 100idiotscalifornianstourists. And quite frankly, 'most' doesn't cut it.
If the bears were just hanging around being 'nuisance' bears, we wouldn't even relocate them. We'd tell theidiotscalifornianstourists to just leave them alone. The problem is we have bears who've learned where the easy food is at. And yes, hungry bears out looking for food in the vicinity of idiots is very dangerous.
I understand what has to be done, and why. But it still sucks. Poor Yogi.
DP this carto is going exactly the same as it did when I put it in. Has not had one dry puff. Billows of vapor. I love it so far.
Guy that sold me this printer was supposed to send a replacement because it wouldn't work correctly. He forgot or his shipping dept forgot, I don't know which. Anyway with a pile of ink and 3 or 4 printers laying around I got tired of waiting and fixed this one. Emailed him and told him to forget the replacement. He was a happy camper. Great vendor though because he did stand behind his products.
Growing up we had deer in the yard many times. A few other critters came through too. Coyotes are good DP.
So hows your time away from the job? Are you having a good saturday?
