I called Representative Kathleen Willis’s office this morning to politely voice my opposition to HB 3362. I also called my Illinois House Representative and had a pleasant and long conversation with one of his staff about my opposition to the bill and to HB 5689 (a bill that would ban the sale of liquid for e-cigarettes until the Illinois Department of Public Health establishes packaging standards, also introduced by Kathleen Willis). I don’t know if signing the petition or either of my phone calls will help, but I’ve invested just a small amount of time that seems better than doing nothing at all.

Looks like Illinois Rep Kathleen Willis killed her own bill to ban flavored e-cigs and e-liquid.

Legislators do that when they know they don't have enough votes to get the bill approved (or even out of a committee), and don't want to be embarrassed by losing a vote on their own bill.

The greater embarrassment comes from propounding the bill in the first place.
