Hello, I'm relatively new here, been lurking a while but never posted. I'm very new to the whole world of vaping, and would like to know if you think I should do my very best to not take up vaping. Basically, since mid-late august i found my self smoking more. It would only be socially, like the odd one outside college, and buying a 10 pack every now and again. I found myself wanting cigarettes more, and buying more often. I've always been relatively anti-smoking, not for other people, but myself. I decided to buy myself an E-lite, and found i really liked it. Some friends were surprised because they didnt consider me a smoker, and neither did I. I would enjoy using one, but should I try my best to stop totally before I buy one?

Thanks,
M

That's a decision that no one on this forum can make for you. You have to decide which is best (or worse) for you.

The nice thing about e-cigarettes is you have a choice in the nicotine content in the e-liquid; you can purchase them with nicotine or non-nicotine, but still have a flavor to vape. (There are literally hundreds of different flavors.) Not just the plain tobacco or menthol flavors that cigarettes have.

It's very reasonable to believe that electronic cigarettes are less harmful than cigarettes, as they don't have the hundreds of additional chemicals known to cause cancer and heart disease that analogs have. You can use the e-cigarettes in place of cigarettes for the few times that you use them, and be healthier for you and for others around you.

it doesnt sound like you are too terribly addicted to nicotine. my advice is to try and keep it that way. use the lowest level of nicotine that is still satisfying to you.

but in the end, nicotine is not the substance you want to steer clear of. burning tobacco leaves are what you want to stay away from. vaping can help you do that. first try a low level of nicotine. if that doesnt work, move up a notch.

I had quit smoking for 13 years and then randomly started again a few months ago. And I felt no desire to try to quit because I knew how hard it would be. A friend introduced me to vaping and said it had simply replaced his cigarettes. And then another friend did the same thing. So I jumped in. I smoked and vaped the first week or two but then decided I no longer wanted to smell like cigarettes, didn't want to ingest the 4000+ chemicals in cigarettes (yes, 4000) including arsenic. Once I got serious about vaping only I was good to go.

I can't tell you if you should quit, but I can tell you that everyone I know that smokes desperately wants to stop. Those I know who have switched to vaping have been able to stop analogs completely. There are hundreds of success stories here about people who have smoked a short time to those who have smoke 40 or more years. To me, that says a great deal.

Good luck and keep reading the forums - they are overflowing with valuable information, tips, suggestions, resources and friends!

Hi and welcome to ECF. In the end as Bad has noted the choice is yours. We're merely here to help, support and guide one another in beating this addiction.
A story...
A woman and her daughter used to come home from work and smoke 1 or 2 analogs every day. This went on for years and years and we lost touch. About 7 months ago we ran into one another in the Mall. She said I looked great and asked my secret. We went for coffee and a chat. I told her I had quit smoking and was vaping. She told me their (her and her daughter) 1 analog a day habit had blossomed into 1 PAD. Needless to say they are now vaping and no longer smoking analogs. Besides the nicotine in tobacco their are all sorts of other more addictive chems in tobacco and they have refined tobacco into being the perfect legally addictive substance- much more powerful and gripping than it was 30 or 40 yrs ago because of these additives. I take it that you're in the "younger" stage of life...I only wish vaping had been available 44 yrs ago.
Whatever route you choose Wishing the Best of Luck to You.

I'll add another story along with Vapoor Eyes. My daughter is 18 years old and a non-smoker. Her older brother, her BF, and several of her friends are all smokers. For her birthday she asked for her own mod setup to vape 0-nicotine flavors. Fearing she could one day become a smoker because of the people she hung out with, I complied with a mod setup along with some no-nicotine flavored e-liquid.

She has successfully converted her brother (which I was never able to do myself), her BF, and a couple of her friends to vaping over the last few months.

Thank you for the help everyone. I'm shocked, in a good way, at how helpful everyone is, a real sense of community. I am on the younger side of life, but just about old enough. I think I will get a e cig, I don't want to start smelling of cigarettes and severely drain my rather limited funds. I think I would rather use one of these, than become a smoker. Once again I thank you all for your help, does anyone have a basic starter kit to recommend, bearing in mind I like in the UK?

I had read your story before but not about your daughter converting your Son, BF and some friends. Congrats Bad and I'm really happy for you and your family
Give your daughter a hug from all of us...she's a trooper and a chip off the ole block.
With all the passion and devotion you put into vaping this seems so right

This is a vendor in the UK that sells e-cigarettes. I recommend an ego variable voltage battery with 2 - 3 clearomizers for the juice attachments.

Great advice, patkin, I love it!
Yes... when a smoker feels pressure, what is the first thing that comes into his mind / hand? ey?
And vaping is NOT about suffering, not about missing things, it is about a lovely new way to enjoy nicotine, a lovely new way with all the flavor and the beloved handling... that gives you everything you want... except the harmful smoke as such :)

Earth for now.
I will agree with everything that has been stated. So many more eloquent than I, but I would like to add...
Please do what is in your power to avoid the stinkies and nicotine, I would hate for you to end up like me, a middle aged fat person trying my best to kick cigarettes so they feel well enough to get any exercise. Being addicted to the stinkies for thirty plus years has taken a great deal of my life and now I am trying to regain what was lost. Vaping has been a HUGE help and I am making progress.

I wish you all the best in your journey through the vaping world.

Go for it. If you feel you are on the slippery slope to smoking, then do it.

I would advise you to steer well clear of E-Lites and Nicolites and skycig and all those sort of e-cigs. They are a) very poor and b) very expensive. E-lites hold the ultimate crown (in my eyes) for selling their products for way too much money and telling enormous lies about the product.

How "basic" do you want to go? If by basic you mean you don't want to fill anything with liquid, then basic will also cost more money.

However, what about this

510 Bottom Coil Compact Set - manual - Janty Dura 510 Sets - Janty Dura 510

and use these

www.ecigscrewdriver.com The Home of an E Smoking Icon - Hosted by CaveCom

Those "cartomisers" are 1.5ml for £1.50. That's 50% more than E-Lites (at least) for less than half the price.

OR you could have a look at the KR808 PCC on myepack.co.uk
