i have only just discovered e-cigs (apart from hearing about gamuccis etc)
I have absolutly no idea where to start!!!

I have looked through a few of the threads on this forum, but it means nothing to me! :(

I just someone to give me a straight answer about what sort of thing i should be looking for? :)

A little bit of info :
I smoke roll ups - 3 in the first hour of getting up, 1 or 2 an hour every hour after that, so id say 15+ a day, i smoke golden virginia, but the stronger i can get it the better, i inhale deeply, so i get a strong hit on the back of my throat

any ideas of where to start? :)

The mainstream vaper in this forum has an eGo or one of the similar ecigs. These employ the 510 thread for cartridges and cartomizers which is wildly popular. Check out the sticky posts in the beginning of the New Members thread for answers to some of your questions. We were all newbies once and had to filter lots of info to get some sort of idea on what to buy.

Check out this thread for a wealth of knowledge and understanding on what people want and why different styles in ecigs are best for different needs.

First, welcome to the forum. Half of work done just by joining. :)

I'm using a Lea with cartomisers, but everyone is different as to what they want out of e cigarettes. I would say to go for a long battery type cigarette. There are some that people seem to like and recommend the most..like ego, riva or e-power. I haven't tried any of them so can't tell you more, but people will respond with their experience soon. People here are quite quick in responding. :D

At a minimum, I would start with an ego "type" model which is the size of a slim cigar or sharpie pen. They will provide much better battery life and "throat hit" (hit back of the throat) than anything that looks like the real thing. Definitely stick with manual batteries (small button) because they don't have a "cutoff" and provide warmer vapor and are safer. Considering what you smoke, definitely get 24mg nicotine strength eliquid and you may initially even need 36mg strength. You can always "cut" the nicotine strength, but you can't make it stronger.

I would suggest you first consider either the E-Power 510 or the Kgo. Both are true 3.7 volt models, unlike the eGo which is only 3.4 volts. More power = warmer vapor = better throat hit.

But another model you might want to consider is a good 5 volt model which will provide warmer vapor than the 3.4 - 3.7 volt models. One of the best in this class (lifetime warranty) is the 5 volt GLV2. Here are some reputable sites to look at these models:

Crystal Clear Vaping

e-Power

5 volt GLV2: Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor

I would also suggest you get some blank dual coil cartomizers to fill with your eliquid of choice. They also provide warmer vapor.

Good Luck

PS: Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

Note: I didn't notice you were in the UK. So I would suggest you look at Liberty Flights UK site for the E-Power, Riva 510 or Riva UNC. They also have 5 volt box mods. Here is their site:

Hi sophhh and welcome to ECF. After 5 posts wait 1 hour and you can post in the UK Forum There are quite a few vapers in the U.K. and some very reputable vendors. It's obvious, like me, you love the TH (throat Hit) and Lung Hit so I would ask what price range are you looking at?
Meanwhile here's an Ecig dictionary:
E-Cig Glossary. Definitions, abbreviations, and meanings. | eCigology
Good Luck, Vapoor.

Hi there and welcome to ECF! The information here can a little overwhelming to a newcomer! You will get a lot of different opinions on which set up you should start with but the truth is, everyone's needs are different!

There is a really good thread for newbies over on the Canada forum that covers quite a bit ~ it's geared toward the Canadian newbie as far as where to get the goods but it does have some great info...here's the link.

My only other advice is to research your options and ask questions!!!

Hope this helps!

I smoked about 20 regular cigs or rollies a day so with whatever nicotine level that was i now use 12mg e liquid because with electronic cigarettes I was smoking more and taking in more nicotine than I needed, probably because the e cig is always on and it doesn't burn down to a cigarette .... so I didn't know when to stop plus you can use it basically anywhere haha. I would suggest staying away from high nicotine liquids, don't wanna over dose :/

I also got a titan 510 tank kit which I really like, it gives you as much vapor as a cigarette gives you smoke (it's the only type I have so I have nothing to compare it to, sorry) the only problem i have would be how long the batteries last. I would suggest buying extra batteries because before I bought extra I would find myself with no battery to use because they take hours to charge and get used up in a couple/few hours. Ugh I'm getting frustrated just thinking about it haha.

Well thats about all I know :) I'm pretty new as well. Oh and as for e liquid, I haven't found any I really like yet but lots of vendors offer sample packs, something to think about :)

Have a spectacular day :)

Welcome! Just parroting what others have said, I guess, but an eGo type battery (riva and e-power are other brands of similar batteries) is likely what you want.

There's a lot of different stuff to put on top the battery, but essentially you need something that gets hot (an atomizer), and liquid to turn into vapor. Lots of cool gadgets have been made to do this, tanks of liquid, atomizers built inside those tanks, cool glass mouth pieces, etc. You'll learn what this all is in time.

I've started with an eGo-T system, which is an atomizer with a tank of liquid that "plugs" into it and also acts as a mouthpiece. It seemed like the simplest system for a new person, and I've been really happy with it. Other people prefer other set ups, of course, just post what you are thinking about buying here and ask for advice. Lots of helpful folks!

Welcome to the world of vaping! It gets a little confusing on what to buy. This is what I got 7 weeks ago when I started vaping. The battery lasts the longest! A day to a day and a half between charges. $44.00 KGO 1100 mAh 2 battery kit

You may or may not like tobacco flavored juices. I would try the smallest possible bottles until you find what you like.

For juice I would recommend Alien Visions or Backwoods Brew. Alien Visions Boba's Bounty is one of the best juices I've ever had and is one of the most popular juices on this forum. I've never tried Backwoods Brew myself but I feel comfortable recommending them because of how highly other people speak of them and the fact that they're known for their tobacco flavors.

You're going to want juice with a good throat hit. E-juice is made up of either PG, VG, or a combination of both. Most people will tell you that PG has more of a throat-hit but I'm not sure totally agree with that. PG does irritate your throat more, so you feel more throat hit in that sense, but VG produces much more vapor. When you inhale a big cloud of VG vapor you're definitely going to feel it so don't think that VG is without any throat-hit. It's just different.

Welcome to the site,

I am a Newbie too and the best advice I can give is to research everything as much as you can. The ego and a Kr808d will serve you well, just remember too order juice as most kits donot come with the juice. I can say any question you ask you will get the best anwswers from the people on the site, they are so helpful! Good Luck on your Hunt!

Glad you found us sophhh! Give yourself some time to look over what is suggested to you. It's understandable to be excited to buy something quickly. Once you've made your decision and received your PV, give yourself some time to adjust to it and decide whether or not it is right for you. Again, ask questions. Good luck with your journey!

............ The Volt is awesome and the batteries last quite a long time. I'd reccommend that set up for sure.

I would not recommed a "mini" battery set-up for anyone but a very light vapor. 100 mAh battery rating = 1 hour of light vaping so the Volt can't come close to the E-Power or Kgo which have batteries that are 1000+ mAh rating. I wouldn't want a battery less than around 700 mAh.

I agree. The Riva I recommended is 650 mAh. That is a minimum mAh rating in my book. More is better.
