So be gentle =P

Reviewed a few threads and everyone seems to have the opposite of my bathroom problem, as in they're all constipated with fits of farting.

Before vaping, I would have a bowel movement every 2-3 days. Unhealthy, I know, but it worked for me. Now, it's every day and its really getting annoying. Not only that, but it might as well be borderline ........, which I completely don't care for. I've read that higher amounts of VG can make you have to go, but I'm already at 80% PG. I just want to go back to what was normal for me because I'm so unused to having to go so often. I don't see how all of you put up with it, it's such an interference.

Aside from wanting to know how to get back to normal, I do have another related question. Is having to go all the time related to my weight loss? I'm 5'8, and before quitting analogs, I was sitting at a comfortable 132. Now, I'm at 126. That's 6lbs in a little less than 2 months. I haven't changed my diet any and in the 130's is really where I look my best, but I don't want to start overloading myself with food when I'm not hungry. So is it possible that I've been carrying around lbs of crap? (hah, gross)

Oh my, honey. You'd think you'd be more happy going every day! LOL I don't see it as an interference, I actually feel so much better being able to 'go' twice a day. Let me guess...you don't like 'going' in public bathrooms (at work, maybe)? I used to be that way when I was younger. Got over it really fast when I realized how much better I felt when I didn't hold it in.

Every 2-3 days IS unhealthy, and even though it did 'work for you', it isn't good to have all of those toxins stuck inside your guts. But, I'm not telling you anything you don't know. With that said, borderline runs aren't good, either. My guess is that you're finally getting rid of some of the sludge that was in your colon, and yes, your weight loss is most likely because of the excess waste that finally came out.

The borderline runs will go away soon, after your colon cleanses. ;) Hang in there.

Is it a sign of too much Nicotine? I'm not sure.

I've been smoking Ecigs for two years straight and in the last 7 months have had horrible digestive problems and have been diagnosed with IBS.

I WISH I was only twice a day.

I vape PG liquid, but I think it still has glycerol in it, which is a laxative. However, I have NO idea if inhaling glycerol produces the same result as ingesting it.

I have a terrible terrible idea to back to normal cigs for a few days and see what happens.

WOW, I'm so the opposite, I USE to have a problem and that has cleared up (YEAH!) and after having lost 45 lbs, gained back 6 (so I'm thinking you sent your 6 lbs over to me?:O)......I'm sure too that our bodies go through a massive change dropping out 4,000 chemicals for each analog we where smoking and our bodies need time to adjust and I'm sure it is not just a one month thing...I'm sure it takes time, and depending on how long we all smoked for as well....just greatful to be less all those chemicals....

Thanks for the replies! I do feel a little bit better about this, I just wish this stage would pass by a little bit faster.

Pheisty - I do have problems going to the bathroom in public, but I can't even pee if I think someone can here me. lol. The honest truth is, until recently, I didn't go as often because I didn't feel like I had to go. It's not like I was putting it off until tomorrow (even though I am a procrastinator =P), I just didn't have to go.

HzG8rGrl - That is a good possibility too. I've been meaning to cut back because of how often I vape. At night, and I know this is bad, I vape until I'm light headed because of the effect it has on my dreams. I use to be a pretty heavy dream root user until I had a very real, traumatic dream and I've found that excessive vaping gets me to a good point, like when I was building up alkaloids in my system, but it stays short and fun.

Rorschach - I'm sorry to here that! I'd like to tell you not to go back to cigs just to test this theory, but in all likeliness, you wouldn't be able to stomach the nasty taste =P

I'm really hoping it's just the whole expelling of chemical things because as Shadzi mentioned, no gut cramps.

humarock, congratulations on that amount of weight loss! You can just send those 6lbs back my way. Winter is coming and they'd have more fun in Florida =P

Well, y'all ain't alone in these sort of problems. Back in the summer of 2000, out of nowhere, I developed IBS. I have to wonder if this was a result of some sort of additive that went into cigarettes at the time, because since I've switched to e-cigs my symptoms have changed. I'm still suffering from IBS, but my symptoms aren't as bad anymore. Recently my doctor put me on Sertraline, an anti-depressant that has a side effect of reducing the symptoms of IBS as well. When my problems started there was no treatment for IBS, but if you are suffering from this please ask your doctor again. There have been some advances in treatment. Okay, that was personal enough for me.

Hey not for nothing, but what is your diet like. If you were going every 2-3 days that is anything but healthy. That's chronic constipation and you're used to it. I had the opposite problem for as long as I can remember. I would go 3-5 times a day. I was very regular about the times but often it was pretty messy.

I recently went on a health kick / diet. I'm eating MUCH better both quality and quantity. Every day for lunch I have a 1lb green salad from the salad bar near my office. This, and this alone, has been the biggest remarkable change in my bowel movements.

If you aren't eating a salad every day you are not doing your intestines any favors. I'd start there and worry more about my diet than my PV.

Good luck.

PhishGreenLantern -

Do you really think salads were a big piece of it? I don't eat salads. Ever. I won't eat leaves by themselves but I also don't like a single kind of dressing, not even ranch and vinegar is my kryptonite. On top of that, I might as well have the palette of a 5 year old. As to what I eat on a regular basis --

Breakfast:
I have a bowl of frosted mini wheats (mostly) every morning, and if I'm in a rush, a can of mt dew.

Lunch:
Usually plain cheese pizza, a sub from subway (bread, ham, and onions only, every time), or left overs if I had an actual dinner the night before.

Dinner:
TV dinner, grilled cheese, or the occasional home cooked meal.

But I snack constantly throughout the day. I eat about 1-3 star crunch cookies, welches fruit snacks, a granola bar, and about 300-450 calories of candy. But on Fridays, I eat about 3-5 donuts too. (Donut day at work =)

Yeah I think a balanced diet is a huge part of it. It doesn't sound like you overeat which is great. But I'd make small changes if I were you as they can offer a pretty big payoff. Actually, not unlike switching from analogs to digitals. Yeah, you're still "smoking" and maybe it would be better if you weren't at all, but the difference is remarkable and the change, not that tough to make.

I'd stay away from a can of soda for breakfast, ever. It will get you going 'cause there's a lot of sugar and caffine in it but there is little in the way of nutritional value. If you don't have time try something like an organic cereal bar. There's about 110 calories in it, and it may still be sugary but all around a better choice than a mountain dew. If you want something sweet for a cereal but still pretty good go with Newman's Own cereals. The strawberry one is real nice. (They give money to charity too but I've never really looked into it.)

For lunch, I'd stay away from more than one slice of pizza. I know you don't eat leaves but spinach and onions go well together. Try it. It adds a little greens. Really having a small salad with the dressing on the side is a good way to go. If you like ketchup and mayo you can ask if they have thousand island or russian dressing. Go for the low fat if you can but really any way you do it you'll be taking in greens. You need to.

If you do a sub, just add some veggies. do one at a time and ask them to go light. See if you like the taste or not. If you do add another one. If you don't, change it to something else. It won't cost you much but you may be able to get some more greens in. Try green peppers, again spinach if you can and/or musrooms.

What do you cook when you cook at home? Where are your skills at in the kitchen? Cooking for yourself is really a wonderful thing. I never did it. I do now. It's awesome. It helps to do prep on Sunday though.

For the snacks... try fresh fruit. I never liked fruit but I do now. It is tastier than candy and chips (honestly, a ripe fruit has incredible flavor). This will also help regulate your.... um... bowels.

Pick any one of these and try it for a week, maybe 2 and you'll be sold. The thing is this. The diet you are feeding yourself may have short term sustainability, but in the long term this will not bring you health. I'm 31. I'm starting to change my diet now. I'm eating healthier. I wish I had started 10 years ago. I realized driving home one day that I was on a collision course with obesity and a heart attack. So I decided to change it. In 1 month I lost 10 lbs and my belts have gone in one notch. I was 5'10" 194, I'm now 184 my goal is to reach 175, maybe even 170 if it is healthy to do it. After that I've learned how to eat well and I look good doin' it.

Almond honey, I can only encourage you to do what's been suggested to you. Going every 2-3 days is toxic to your body. Get yourself on a healthy diet, fruit/veg, whole grains... you've heard it all before. Give yourself a junk treat now & then, but get yourself on some good food. See your Dr too if diet doesn't improve things. My dh has had that 2-3 day habit for many years. Over a long period of time he has really screwed him up good. Trust me you don't want that to happen to you.

We all have toxic bodies from those damn cigs we've been using for years not to mention the nicotine part. It's going to take time for our bodies to detoxify and heal. If you are finally going almost too much, it's possible that your body is cleaning itself out. That's a good thing. Time may take care of it, but it's important that you help. Drink lots of water to keep from dehydrating.

@Almond: Well I tried really hard to smoke regular cigarettes again and the taste is terrible. Maybe try one a day and cut down on vaping.

I know what you're talking about when you say you smoke until you're light-headed at night. At home I feel like it's really easy for us to OD on nicotine. I remember when I tried the patch some years back it gave me the most lucid dreams!

But anyways. You say you went every 2-3 days and as most people have said, that is not exactly normal. What is it now? Just every day? Or several times a day?

@James Wall: Have you looked into hypnotherapy? I just met a therapist for the first time ever and I'm starting a regimen of hypnotherapy for IBS. It sounds crazy, I know, but I work in the surgery space and read clinicals all the time, and the clinicals for IBS hypnotherapy are surprisingly positive.

As for medication I've only been prescribed donnatal but of course have plenty of OTC remedies.

That is one of the signs of too much nicotine.

Barring changes in diet or a legitimate health problem, this is the most likely answer. Nicotine is a diuretic.

However, it's probably something you should see your doctor about rather than self-diagnosing it as a symptom of vaping or asking unqualified people such as us.
