I'm about to give up with cartos!

I've been vaping with the Riva 510 SE for 6 weeks, and during that time, I've had almost zero sucess with cartos. Dripping and carts work well for me, with little hassle. Every now and then, I try again with a carto. I ordered some a few weeks ago from my go-to supplier, Liberty Flights. They didn't have Boges in stock. I got a no-name brand. I have learned that I was probably overfilling them. Today, I filled a new one using a syringe, using 1 ml of juice. It works good. I filled another the same way with a different juice, very tough draw and little vapor. This has been the main problem....tough draw and little vapor. I'm frustrated as hell with these things. So, given all that, if I got the Boges, which I hear are very good, will it make much of a difference?
Also, how often do you top these things off? 20 toots? 40?

Cartos work best with thinner juice. Could the ones that draw hard and don't produce much vapor be a thicker juice? As far as when to top off, I just wait unit I start to taste a burnt taste then refill. BTW, I use the condom method of refilling cartos. It's just so much easier than using a syringe.

Neither juice seems thick to me. One is cherry and the other is a fruit mix. They both seem the same as far as thickness. Again, I'm wondering if the Boges would be an improvement?

This may seal the deal for me. If I'm limited to certain juices in a carto, then I won't bother with them.

Get some dual coil cartos, you can get them from LF. Take the clear ones, so you can see what you are doing filling them up.
Easy to fill, dripping from the bottle. No leaks, no burnt taste, clouds of vapor, good TH. strong taste. They are amazing, and at Riva SE I had them myself, works like a charme. Best carto ever, most close to direct dripping at a ato. IMHO

I'm using my 2.0Ω Boge carto from Liberty Flights on my 510 auto battery right now. I love it. And I like the ciglike feel of the 510 battery. Most of the time I use my eGos and 3.7v Rivas with either eGo-T atties or Boge cartos--2.0Ω ones on the eGos, 2.5 or 3Ω ones on the Rivas. I'm using mostly 70%PG/30%VG juices.

I top them off early and I top them off often. As soon as the vapor begins to diminish or the flavor seems weaker. The 2.0Ω ones in perticular should be kept moist at all times.

You should give them a try. I believe they are back in stock at LF.

I am following this thread with interest as well... never had luck with any cartos except the kr808 ones i used to use when I had my vapor king...

i too use the 2.0 ohm boge cartomizers when i use a carto - i am basically a dripper or use a bottom feeder. i have never noticed a problem with the hard draw on them.
i'm curious if you tighten the carto and then unscrew it a little less than a 1/8 to 1/4 turn if that changes the draw at all for ya. it's worth a try.

I prefer the cartos myself and recently went back to the 808D-1 just because of that reason. Since coming out with the next generation of the 808 like Smokeless Image carries, it has been fantastic.

Priot to that I used my RIVA 510 and EGOs with Yeti cartos from AltSmoke (LR version) - these were the only ones I really liked on that setup. I'm really glad I made the switch as dripping was getting old (tiring) and I really wanted a slim analog style that carried a great punch.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose? This is what I do now, whether I'm dripping or using my trusty cart. (with the teabag mod, which works wonders for me)
I think I'll just stick to what works for me. I don't mind topping off the carts often. I get great and consistent vapor that way.

You need to go with Boge instead of the knock-off brands. Boge blow them out of the water. When the flavor starts to change or vapor drops off, time to refill.

I love my Boge 2 ohm cartos, but no cartos aren't the vaping happy land that they're made out to be. I use a bottom feeder, and generally add more juice every 5-6 hits or so.

Generally they work great for me, but I have one juice in particular that just clogs them up terribly, Love that juice, but it clogs it within an hour or so.

Have you tried filler-less carto's such as the Edition2's and G4's?

I started out with cartos but once I started dripping that was it. Atomizers give out a much better taste and last longer than those cartos. I tried going back and reevaluating cartos but no dice-I didn't get the taste-they seemed dull. Get you a bottom feeder with a good atty and you'll see the difference.

Bottom feeders, imo, have the most muted taste out of all the devices I've tried. Liked it's ease of use, and the 18650 gave a great hit. But the taste was gone. I've come full circle back to cartos, and shelved all of my mods. The horizontal coil design gives me all I need. I've never used a 510 type carto, so I can't make a comparison. But 808's(bloog,nhaler MF style) will pop your eyes out. At 10 bucks for 5, I'm getting a week or so per carto. The cost isn't that bad imo. Especially compared to smoking analogs. That, and I got so sick and tired of attys just dying out of nowhere. They always seem to catch you at a bad time.

I may try them just to see what all the hoopla is with them, it's just that I'm tired of shelling out so much money. To me, it may not be worth it.

Agreed. Thanks for all the input folks. I'll stick with my attys which last me about about a month so I shouldn't complain. I just thought using cartos would save from having to add drops all the time. That doesn't seem to be the case, and the flavor, as mentioned earlier, is just not the same.

I don't understand why people give up over a flow or clog problem- does adding a few drops of water dilute the flavor so much? Won't the atty also not flow well w/ the same juices that give problems on a carto?

No. Again, I'm tired of spending a ton of money.

Carto's with filler/cotton are a waste of money in the long run. They simply don't last long.

I have a few Edition2 carto's that literally lasted 6 months per carto. In fact, one of them kept going for longer until I decided to throw it out since the outside of it was deteriorating due to excessive usage. The carto was still performing almost as good as new. If you use a clear juice, they should last months.

Do the math, if you are paying $2 for a normal carto that only lasts a week, how about paying $2 for a carto that can last 6 months and performs better (almost as good as some Atty's).

Normal carto's: $10 for 5 carto's per week, times 52 weeks = $520 per year
Edition2 carto's: $10 for 5 CE2's per 6 months = $20 per year

Even if they lasted 2 months each, that is still $60

All I'm saying is, there are some great carto's out there that are worth trying.
I can't say the same for the new G4 carto's since the ohms are too high for 3.7v (they are great at 5v), but they are probably the easiest carto's to refill on the market. Lower ohm G4's are on the way.

I'm always willing to try new stuff. Usually as long as I don't need to buy a new device to fit it. 520 bucks a year, in the long run is nothing compared to my 12$ a day habit I kicked with ecigs. I'll take that loss any day lol. My problem with getting attys\cartos to go longer periods of time is..... well, time lol. I despise washing gear out. I use something until I feel I'm not getting what I need. Then I toss it. Most economical way to go about it? Nah. But it works for me.

But anyway, I have a lot of experience with the Edition2's and I can assure you they are worth trying since they perform great and last waaay longer than cotton based carto's.
At least grab one pack on your next order (and perhaps a pack of G4's as well, or the lower ohm G5's from NHaler), you may be pleasantly surprised
