I've been reading a lot in the Modding sections but trying to avoid doing it. It doesn't take much to get me obsessed and I knew just one would be all it would take. I came across a thread where a guy was using NiMH AA and AAA to get 4.8v little box mods. I've felt like I wasn't getting enough out of my 3.7v gadgets and was trying to decide if I needed to try some LR, HV, VV or bottom feeder to get a better vape. I thought this "harmless" little mod would be a nice and simple way to check out if higher voltage had anything to offer me. "I'm just gonna do this one, to see how I like the voltage!" Thats what I told myself. A quick trip to the Shak to get a few pieces: a 4xAA box and a 4xAAA box, stopped at CVS and they had 8x AAA NiMH for $11 @970 mAh. A slow night at work and here is the result: I wound up hollowing out the AA box and putting the AAA in it. None of my push button switches were low enough profile to put them anywhere I'd want them so I decided I'd just use one of the switches from the boxes. The battery connection isn't in real solid so I put an extension on it to grip while putting a carto or atty on it. Everything is temporary right now, just wanted functionality. Well once I got it together couldn't wait to try it. First hit off of almost choked me! Lots more vape and WAY thicker. Some of my juices that were kinda bland now popped with flavor. I probably about OD'd on nic I was trying so much stuff. Anyway you guys have created a monster and it's all your fault! Here are a few pics, nothing fancy but it serves its purpose:

Some foam weather tape under lid so no rattle:

Here's how tight the fit of two boxes is. Wires are soldered but taped:

Yea, while I was in RS I was eyeballing the cellphone shells on their display. I've got lots of flashlights but they are kinda my babies. I work nights and hunt nights and they've all got their special purposes. Even if I buy a cheap one I'd mod it into a good light. For some reason I keep thinking about the old Atari controllers. I'd like to do one of them with a carto or atty in the joystick, batts in the base and hit the big red button for party time. Even if I didn't like the look I like the form factor. Big solid base and big fat button. I got a ton of other ideas running around in my head, the wife's gonna go bonkers. But I'm blaming it on you guys.

I did install a button finally. The same used on The Puck. I ditched the nut and soldered as low on the legs as I could get. Then I clipped off the legs as short as I could. It fit but just barely. Planned on just using it to see how I like the voltage, turns out I'm using this thing almost exclusively. I was worried about leaving the switch in the ON position by accident. I've got LEDs I could put in it but I like it better without them. I can hear the DC carto's sizzle when its active so don't need lights.
