Jaka,

I know exactly what the issue is. The top piece that screws down onto the big o ring arround the top of the atomizer is too tight. Try these 2 things and it should help.
1. make sure the top o ring is well lubed.
2. (this is the most important part) when you install this piece tighten it down to seat the o ring and then back it off. Now tighten it just enough to not be loose.

That whole top section is gripping the atty and loosening the atty as you adjust the liquid control. I know this because I have accidentally done this with my UFS.

You just want the top part to seal enough to keep the juice from leaking out.

Also remember that when tightening in the atty that the batt compartment should be loose with no pressure on the center pin. The atty needs to be fully screwed in tight to the connector before you tighten up the batts.

Exactly as Inq said, and also screw the atomizer very well on UFS connector. You will not have any problem like this Jaka:)

Thanks! I had a hunch the problem was something of the kind, but I was blaming the o-ring itself, not the very top collar that applies pressure to it. Didn't even think of that. I've been tightening everything down extra to prevent leaks, and thus causing the problem -- funny!

I'll try the UFS again tonight and keep that top piece juuuuuuust barely tight enough instead. Cross your fingers for me, and thanks again for the voices of experience!

So far, success!

I took my hiatus as an opportunity to clean the whole UFS apparatus and get silicone grease on the threads -- I think it actually came with some (thanks, CoV!), but I washed that off cleaning it up. Got it reassembled and ready to go, tightened that top ring just a teensy bit, just a whisker past where the threads catch, the point where one finger lightly stroking along the side indentation is no longer enough to turn it.

I pulled off the drip tip and looked straight down at the bridge of the atomizer to see if it turned when I turned the tank. Nope. Tightened down that top ring, opened the (dry) tank all the way, then closed it, and watched the atomizer spin off with the tank. Put it back together, left the top ring loose, no atomizer spin. Screwed it down, repeat, popped off the tank. (I can't help it. I'm a computer tech. "Can I reproduce the problem?" is probably etched on my bones.) Put it together one more time, careful with the top ring, and filled it. Slung it around a bit, held it upside down, no leaks. Opened juice and air just a little, pulled a little juice into the atty, and vaped away for a good 3 hours, adjusting the juice up and down at whim, with no problems. The sweet spot seems to change a little with liquid level, but once I've found it, it's pretty easy to adjust back to optimal. This is the experience I got so excited about those first couple of times!

I can tell there's a fine art to getting the mix, the draw, and the volume all balanced just right, but that's the fun part of the learning curve.

Sounds like you are well on your way to mastering the UFS. Everyone goes through the same trial and error when they start.

Since my favorite driptip is a shorty from SuperT; a modded extension does come in handy.

I can vouch for that Para! But I must reinterate that the helpful tips and tricks that guys like you and others have been posting for a while along with the good videos available, it was a LOT less painful.

In fact I had read so many things and watched so many hours of video that I found myself automatically applying some of the suggestions and advice on it's first inspection and use. Granted I "cheated" the first go with a carto though! ;)

I guess it's like any other profession you are in for many years. After 3 decades, it ceases to be what you do and becomes more of who or what you are. Training and always having an alternate plan of attack was critical to success in my profession.

With learning the UFS, those same principles have already served me well but again, it is only possible due to the material and experience being made readily available by GG Family UFS veterans!

Seconded! Even before I got the UFS, the whole process of buying batteries and a charger for several configuration to try things out would have been daunting without this community. After I'd had it about a week, I cranked the collection tank cap too tight and cut through the o-ring. No problem; I had it replaced in a few days (thanks to CoV's o-ring pack and the diagrams here) and bought some food-grade silicone grease to make the threads seal better and spin smoother, to be nicer to the new o-ring. Advice in the GG forum was what led me to buy the UFS, and I don't think I'd have been able to use it without the videos and tutorials here. I might have given up on the UFS entirely in my frustration if it hadn't been for the advice in this thread. Instead, I'm sitting here learning how to use juice and air controls to get just as good a vape from the last few drops in the tank as I got from the first. (Well, maybe not the first -- the atty still floods at first. But shortly thereafter.)

Is there a single "How to get started" guide for the GG and accoutrements? I have the "User Guide" pdf, which has lots of diagrams that are very useful once you already know how it works, or if you're the type who can figure that out from schematics, but I haven't found anything along the lines of an unboxing-to-first-vape howto.
