Bingo!! I know that what I wanted. When the OP list that as a requirement I usually avoid posting cause it in there head they need for it to look like a cigarette. I guess its only natural. Who wants to step outside with their co-workers for a smoke with this weird device. Well I need to rant and thanks for letting me. I remember my first 510 batt and it was the beginning of my last cigarette I ever smoked so.......then it was the beginning of a declining bank account! lol

Yeah, me too. I've been on my way to the poor house ever since I started vaping.lol But I love it!
I started with a Janty JETS as soon as they came out with it. I thought; Well, I'll get a tank system from the people who invented it. It's gotta be the best one you can buy.
I like my Janty and still use it but I have a Reo Woodvil (it's Jatoba/Zebra) that I got in the mail yesterday and it's sitting here looking at me because I haven't got the batteries and other goodies to go with it yet. But I will have the other stuff soon enough. I've got my Woodvil and that's all that matters. And as far as ordering a Reo, you have to do like me and everybody else does, get on the Reo sub-forum and do some research. I bought a Woodvil because I wanted to upgrade(i hate that word for some reason) and while researching I realized I liked all the Reonauts. I get a kick out of following the threads in that forum. Everybody is laid back and sociable. Maybe that's why it's becoming difficult for "unsure" to put up with the people who only like forums so they can tell everyone else how smart they are. The Reonauts are real. It's a family on that part of ECF. I haven't seen to many know-it-alls on the Reo forum and I'm on there, keeping up, quite a bit. I don't say much but I'm there, learning.
BTW, I lol at a lotta' "unsure's" posts.

I'm a new vaper too, and am pleased and impressed with the veterans for their patience. You guys answer the same questions over and over and over in an effort to help a stranger with a problem. For that you are appreciated more than you'll ever know....

We're glad to have you here. This whole phenomenon is pretty amazing - quitting smoking is hard work, and here we have thousands of people who have been successful using the e-cig. And while most of us have experienced some level of frustration along the way, we believe in it, and strongly enough to want to help you stick with it and avoid the problems we've had. I know I was never this enthusiastic about a box of Nicorettes.

Unsure, it's still VERY important to make sure the new vapors know there are other options than the store bought, and "most-of-the-time" over-priced cig mods. It took me going through kr808's, LF's Riva SE's, and getting sick and tired of all the work it was to get a consistant, satisfying vape. I followed vets like YOU, and many others, going so far as to check profiles and look up posts made by you and the others. That led me to sub-forums like this! Without folks like you and others that offer hard earned wisdom, new folks like myself waste a LOT of money before they make it here. I wish I has started here or with B.Smith inexpensive box mod instead of the $200+ worth of pv's that didn't satisfy my nicotine cravings. The old saying applies even in a forum full of good and helpful folks... There are aholes in every crowd. Just fewer here than some of the other tech forums I frequent. Just ignore their ignorance, block them from being able to pm me you in your profile settings, and keep on trying to help when you can. If they post in a thread where the mods can see it they will get what they deserve. I know, I've seen El and Joker to name a few, biotch-slap some members that were rude and hateful. Trust me when I say, the good your doing far out weights the bad they can!:2cool:

Hey Unsure I wish I could have had your advice when I was on the new members forum but now that I have caught you here could you suggest a mod for me. I do not want something expensive or hard to maintain but one that produces lots of taste and vapor and also let me know some good vendors that sell them and what accessories I need to go with one I have read that the reo mini was a good one to go with but am not sure

I think the Reo would be EXCELLENT for a newbie that is dedicated to stop smoking. I sure wish I knew about the Reo before I invested tons into joye 510 crap, and the Ego-T. (still have an ENTIRE bag of that blue fishtank cart stuffing crap sitting in my house) hahaha

I personally think the newbies are looking for "something that looks like a cigarette"........

Honestly, box mods had me intimidated for quite a while. I thought I had to know about ohms, electronics, and stuff like that. The Reo has made it so that I fill up a juice bottle, pop in a charged battery, put my atty on & go! If only the dedicated newbies could see just how EASY vaping really is with some decent hardware!!!!

It sucks that you are honestly trying to help and people wanna be weird about it. I'm sorry. I got flamed hardcore last week when someone was talking about whether or not his 510 battery was dead. I suggested a Reo and added a smiley face to it and bam.............the hate was on. I blocked every single person that attempted to direct hate my way. I was only trying to be helpful.

I try to look at it just like I look at kids...........you can tell them time and time again...........but until they experience it for themselves, well only then will they thank you (and understand that you were right).

redheadone, if it helps, I started with an eGo and got a REO Mini about 1 1/2 months later. I am so happy all I think I want are more REO's.

bought my reo 1 month into vaping.........started with the joye 510, then went to the Ego T.

If you REALLY think about it........newbies are gonna spend AT LEAST the cost of a REO mini just getting all the goods for their 510/901, extra batts, attys, pcc, cartos, cases for all of the goods they will need to carry while out and about.

Honestly I think when people first want to try vaping, they want something that resembles a cigarette. I did, and most everyone on the newbie threads seem to lean that way too. I think it's a subconscious/comfort thing kicking in, something just like a cigarette. Well, that soon goes away,or it did in my experience. I think this is why most people suggest a ego/riva or something similiar to newbies.

Don't give up unsure...you might help one person to avoid all the cost and hassle of a multitude of devices before they try a mod. And, if you helped one, then it was worth it.

Hugs

unsure, I hear you and agree with your advice 100%. I regularly recommend eGo's/Riva's simply because I veiw it as a better option than any analog sized PV and know I will get a ration of sh** if I recommend what I know to be a better PV such as the REO. But I know that any well made better battery PV will out perform the eGo. I won't even say "mod" due to the negative connation. And then there are the mini PV lovers who call anything other than a mini a "fat battery" PV which to me is an intentional negative referrence to better battery devices as a means to sway people away from better performing PV's.

And when newbies state they want their PV to be as close to an analog as possible, I personally think what many of them want, without knowing how to say it, is that they want the "inhaled feel" of an analog. They won't get that with an analog sized PV. Although I agree with you ClumsyGirl that many do think that they want the look of an analog. To me that is when you want the seasoned, experienced vaper to explain the differences.

Hi Unsure --
((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Unsure)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
I wish I could remember the name of the person who first posted about the REO so I could thank them...I think it was about a month after I started vaping that I started reading about the REO -- and that led me to do some research on Robert's mod. If it weren't for that poster, I hate to think about how much longer it would have taken me to find the perfect solution for me.

I haven't stopped by the New Members Forum in a long time because these days, I log in and right away click on the Reos Mods Forum. But I remember the last time I was there, it was the same situation as with you, Unsure. A newbie, asking for suggestions -- well, I wrote my whole PV journey and how I came to the conclusion that a REO was for me... right after my post there were dozens of posters who indirectly responded to my post by saying that a newbie doesn't need to spend hundreds of dollars on a MOD, that all they needed was a 510 or EGO PV.

I remember feeling a little attacked, but then I had to admit to myself that when I first started, I was looking for the most economical kit available. I agree with the other posters here that everyone must go through their own journey, or their own evolution of PV use. But again, I am so glad that someone posted about the REO and planted that seed in my mind... and after several weeks of dripping and cleaning up and napkins and paper towels everywhere and a dozen chargers for the three separate kits I had purchased in my hunt for a PV with less mess and consistent vapor... I remembered that someone had posted about the REO... and I am so grateful... or I may have gone the route of EGO, and then Tanks, and everything else -- which still could not deliver the vaping experience that I get from this unconventional but elegant REO MOD.

I spent nearly $200 on three kits full of hassle -- when I could have spent the same amount for one REO setup and live in vapor bliss. Live and Learn and Vape in Bliss.

Unsure, I'm glad you're here and glad to know you! If you don't go back to the New Member's Forum, it's their loss!

I'm also new to vaping. I don't really ask alot of questions because you veterans have answered them so often I just need to do a search. So thank you and please keep giving the kind of advice you do.

I can honestly say that from my first welcome thread, it was suggested I look at the reo mini, (Thanks mlinky, mliky was able to read what I really was looking for and suggested I look at the reo mini) that was the kind of advice I was looking for. Yes I do love my vGo, however, I have found it to be lacking for me during different times. I will be ordering my mini reo on the 5th (IF I am lucky enough to get an email from Rob).

Also I seem to be the odd ball out here, but I didn't want mine to be like or taste like a real smoke. I was looking to cut back, but hoping I would love this enough to drop the real smokes. And in my mind if it didn't look, feel or taste like a smoke my chances of being able to quit improved. I needed this to be so different from smoking that I wouldn't want to go back. And I can say that I haven't.

So thanks again to all those who have tried and succeeded in helping a noob out!

So please keep giving advice, we noobs need it

There are many new threads daily opened by 1st time posters seeking advice on what PV to get. Almost all responses are the the traditional starter kits. Which is great!!! Btw those kits stopped me from my very last cigarette......good right? So I say continue with that advice. All I do is once per thread offer an option of a mod.....NOT A REO or any hi-end box mod...but an inexpensive one. Again just as a option to the 99% egos & rivas being pushed on the new members. My purpose is to try and save some of them money by-passsing all the accessories and upgrades a lot of us have gone thru. Box mods are not for everyone but I dont see the harm in exposing newbies to the possibilities. Evidently my opinions in a sea of many is seen as harmful. I have been commented on and PMed to quit suggesting mods to newbies. Screw them. Im done and tired of being attacked. We all have good intentions to help but I guess Im seen as some evil pusher selling crack to kids. What important is they quit smoking cigarettes which at least is one thing we all agree on. Maybe our new 1st timer REOnouts can make the case better than someone like me with over 3500 posts and sporting a big ol' fat REO signature. lol
When someone asks me to recommend a PV I will give my recommendation and if someone don't like it that's too bad. It's my recommendation. If I said Ego like everyone else does I'd be lying.

I'll bet you'll love your Mini, MamaD! And if for some reason you find you're one of the few people who don't, they sell very quickly in the Classified section here, so it is a no-risk proposition.

I've recommended the REO's to some newbies, too, depending on their indicated needs/wants, and have also been gently chastised for it. Out of the gate, the simplest device for a beginner is probably a 2-piece with pre-filled cartos. Once you decide to step out of that space, it really doesn't get any easier than a REO. And there isn't any comparison in performance or cost-effectiveness - the REO wins hands-down.

Okay...so I just gotta start by saying....I think this is my all time favorite thread. The love and support is palpable. And I am thankful for each and every post. Since I took on the responsibilities of Supplier Associate, I haven't been able to post in the new members forum....which is fine, because our own forum here has gotten big enough that I don't have the time to keep up with the others on a regular basis, anymore. But I have to say, that I know there are quite a few who have benefited from the advise from people like you Unsure, and mlinky, and MX, and others. It is too bad that so many forget that starting the transition to vaping is different for everyone. Their needs, wants, and misconceptions are all very different.

Just the other day, I saw a post in the General Discussion where someone was frustrated with former smokers being all holier than thou about quitting cold turkey, thinking that because they did it that way, we all should be able to do it that way. Unfortunately, some of us vaping veterans seemed to have forgotten that the transition doesn't work the same way for everyone! I congratulate, nay, envy even those who have been satiated by the cigarette style pvs and who have completely transitioned to vaping that way. But there are those of us out there that need so much more.

I agree that to hammer on a new member about mods will more than likely end up being counter productive for everyone involved. But letting them know the options available to them, gives them the ability to make better informed decisions every time they make a purchase....and that's what is really important....Helping them find the information they need to help them achieve their goals, whatever they may be is what we're here for. Unsure, I know you're frustrated and I totally support you taking a break....but I do hope that at some point in time, you feel comfortable stretching the boundaries for the newcomers again. You already have made a positive difference in several members' vaping experiences, and you should feel good about it, my friend! :)
