I have smoked for about 23 years, heavy smoker.

I have tried to give up in the past, using different ways, and the longest i gave up for was a few years ago for about 4-5 months.

Ive used e cigs, patches, cold turkey etc etc

and to be honest ive found getting over the physical addiction to nicotine is quite easy, its the physiological addiction thats hard to get over.

The habit of having a cigarette in the morning, after coffee, after food, with friends, with drinks, all are hard moments to resist smoking.

Now i have tried e cigs before, and didn't do very well with them, i was using the traditional cigarette looking version, cartomisers i think they are called.

I was always frustrated with inconsistent vapor, lack of throat hit, and smoking in that way was costing me almost as much as traditional cigarettes.

Now a few years later, these last few weeks ive been looking at this technology again, i have purchased an itaste 134 and an itaste vv/vw v3.0 obviously im going to use the 134 at home being the beast it is.

And now im buying e liquid it works out a lot cheaper that cigarettes.

So yeah i thought id join this forum, and say hello!

i just want to point out, i havent actually stopped smoking yet, ive only just recieved these products in the post, and have been researching them for the last week, which is what brought me here.

Any advice for someone in my situation is warmly received :)

First off, welcome to ECF!

I was in the same boat. I think a lot of us were. I didn't stop smoking completely until I really got into it. At one point I put the eGo down completely and started smoking again--I know, -_-

But then I got off the cheap corner store juices and made a commitment to quit. Though I'm not fool enough to say once and for all, because once an addict, always an addict.

My advice is always to have a backup. Have a backup for your backup. I now have a ProVari and always tote around an extra battery, coil and juice, or have it somewhere accessible. I really should buy an extra tank too.

Enjoy the journey. I hope yours is successful, even more than mine. Vape on!

It is good you are taking advantage of the new technology and still experiencing the money saved. That technology will give you a more satisfying vape. make sure to re-stock your liquids frequently so you never come close to running out. If you try a flavor you don't like, put it away in a drawer in a cool place - what tastes bad now may taste good a month from now
With the variable voltage equipment you may enjoy a reliable tank like the innokin Iclear30, be sure to get a few replacement heads, total cost about $20 ($15 if you get it from Fasttech). Rinse and dry the heads weekly and you may get a month's use out of each one. you may need to vape 24 mg at first to get your nic fix.

don't lose faith if you slip back to analogs. any time you vape is an analog avoided which means a healthier you. When you take that first sip of coffee and feel the need for an analog, give it a minute, just one minute, while you get your vape on. If you go 10 minutes without that cancer stick, put a quarter in a jar, that's how much you just saved. when you have $20 in the jar, treat yourself to a new flavor or device, you earned it. Browsing this forum will help keep you busy and keep your mind off analogs. you might try some of the support threads, I like to browse the vendors whose specials appear in http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/pay-forward-pif/418767-deals-steals-102.html to shop for that next purchase. I have never had a bad experience with the vendors I have found in this forum.

Good luck and welcome to the forum, you have friends here who would love to be of whatever help they can be.

Welcome to ECF :) My only advice is to just read and read on here, watch videos, read things on other websites, experiment with e-liquids and what you're using as a "topper" (cartos, clearos, etc.) until you find something you really like, and don't put too much stress on yourself about quitting the cigarettes. It takes some people hours, others months to find that they don't want cigarettes anymore, and that's ok. There's nothing wrong at all with easing away from cigarettes slowly. But, if you do wake up one day soon and realize you have no desire to smoke again, that's great, too.

Welcome back onto the vape wagon and to ECF! Congratulations on your tenacity in being willing to give e-cigs another try after having such a negative experience with them previously. You picked good batteries and I expect you will be pleasantly surprised at the difference in how satisfying the vape they produce is compared to cig-alikes.

Focus first on making sure that your gear is working well for you and that you have some juice(s) that you truly enjoy at the nicotine levels that are effective for you before putting pressure on yourself to quit cigarettes altogether. Until then celebrate the cigarettes you don't smoke and don't fret about the ones you do.

If you are using the iClear 16s and iClear 30s clearomizers that came with your batteries to vape your e-liquid be aware that the tanks are polycarbonate which will frost and crack with certain e-liquids, Let's make a list of juices/flavors that crack tanks, ce2's/clearos. You might want to purchase a Pro Tank 2 or something similar with a Pyrex tank to vape those particular e-liquids.

Thanks for everyones advice, its greatly appreciated!

ok i just had a go on both the itaste 134 and itaste vv vw 3.0, wow, very impressed on that throat hit and amount of vapour.

Its definitely a massive improvement on what i had tried in the past.

Only thing i really need to tweak is the e liquid.

i naively ordered 45mg eliquid with a big throat hit from flavour art, and blimey thats a big throat hit.

i had read that you can dilute down your e liquid with a non nic liquid to reduce the nic level, which in turn lowers the throat hit.

im on the lowest power setting as well so i needed too dilute.

and its a better vape now, still needs some tweaking, but feeling very positive i can quit the bad cigs, and vape instead.

The one reason I still come to this forum,is looking for people like you,yes I'm a troll. No I look for the people who want to quit and are having trouble. I smoked for 35 yrs 2.5 pad. I had tried everything like you,and was ready to give up. April will be 3 years, since I have had a .... Vaping DOES work. I started with the Blu and that was so frustrating,I was ready to go back to smoking, even though they did get me off smoking.(poor batt life and$$) I went to the Ego and this worked, great Batt life and was able to use tanks with cartomizers,so I was set for hours. I wanted more heavier throat hits. I got a Vamo. The Vamo was great, but I switch tanks(for different flavors) all day long. The threads wore out quickly. I'm retired,so not a lot of money, but I bought a Provari, have had it for 9 months and not a single glitch. I have 5 carto tanks and 3 Vivi Novas. I like both styles, but prefer my Carto-tanks. I went from buying juices,to making my own. They are every bit as good as what I paid 6.99 for a 10ml bottle. It cost me.86 cents to make a 10ml bottle. I spent 250.00 a month on fags,3 yrs ago. I now spend about 40.00 a month on vape supplies and there are months that I buy nothing. Like now I have enough juice and cartos and do not need to buy anything, till March. I now go to the gym 5 days a week and swim. My oral hygiene is fantastic. My smell(this can have negative effects)taste, stamina, everything improved 100%. I knew the cigs were going to kill me. A friend, also 51 has stage 4 COPD. You can do this trust me. Surf this forum, ask questions,if what your using does not work, try something new. A lot of good people and helpful info on here. Seek out a guy on here "Baditude",he has some blogs and is very knowledgeable and will not steer you wrong. I'm 3 yrs in and consider myself a noobie, not a lot of experience, but I have quit what I knew was killing me. There is that "Happy spot" and you will find it. Best wishes and Cheers:toast:

Welcome to the boards! Great resource to help you stick with it and move forward.

Here is a list I compiled of various threads here at ECF to help some folks out. Questions about batteries, coil building, safety, terms, and more can all be found in this one thread. Hope it helps you out on your way.

Yeah it was wayyy stronger than i thought it would be.

oh well lesson learned, i didnt buy much of it anyways, and now i can dilute it, i guess it means its gonna last longer. :)

Did you order some unflavored nicotine base of some sort from Flavor Art or is what you have flavored? Hardly anyone sells flavored juice that strong.

Half the strength of the juice you have would generally be more than enough for most people to get started with, particularly with the gear you have as opposed to the cig-alikes you have used in the past. Your new gear produces a lot more vapor. You will likely get nic sick (light-headed, headache, nausea) if you vape very much of the 45 mg. you have now.

If you like the flavor (if it's flavored) you could order some 0 nicotine in the same flavor to mix half and half with what you have to get something more in line with the high end of what might work for you. It would also be a good idea to get some 12 mg. and 18 mg. nicotine as well. The 22.5 mg. is still a bit on the high side of what works best for most people.

However, nicotine strength needed to get off the cigarettes can sometimes be very high for light smokers and lower for heavier smokers. What's important is that you find a strength that works for you so you don't have cravings for cigarettes.

You could also dilute the juice you have with pharmaceutical grade vegetable glycerin (VG). Your local pharmacy should have some. It will cut the flavor of the juice but VG provides a smoother throat hit aside from just diluting what you have. VG is very thick so you may need to add a drop of distilled water to your tank if the juice doesn't wick properly but try it without any water first.

I'm here along the same lines as you. I tried the electronic route about 5 years ago, didn't have all of the mods and tanks, mostly just the cigalikes. They helped, but they didn't do the trick and get me off the analogs for good, just slowed me down. I'm back now to try again. I just received a Provari and a couple of Kayfun Lites, just need to go to a local shop and pick up supplies; cotton, ejuice, etc. I'm hoping I have better, and longer lasting, results than I did the first time I tried vaping.

Welcome! I'm glad you decided to give it another go.

I smoked for over 35 years, and was smoking 3 packs+/day for many years. The "cigalikes" didn't cut it for me and I gave up. Once I discovered mods and the ability to put in your flavor of choice it was a totally different story.

The best thing I can tell you is to find a flavor that really "does it" for you. For me it was graham cracker.

When I started I cut way down on my smoking for a while, but still smoked a cigarette when I felt the need. No stress that way as I didn't feel I was being deprived of anything. It took me two months but one morning I was in a store buying a cup of coffee and the cashier asked me if I wanted anything else.

I started to automatically ask for a pack of smokes but it occurred to me that I really didn't want them and simply replied "No, that's it" and haven't smoked one since. Vaping really does work.

Best of luck to you.

Thanks for everyone's comments, its so greatly appreciated, having a community that is going through the same thing massively helps.

ok so i bought super strong, super throat hit e liquid, made a mistake, but i am diluting it into 4 parts, 1 part of this 45mg flavoured e liquid, into 3 parts non nic liquid, the non nic liquid is flavoured so im getting a jumble of flavours, but i dont want to waste what i have bought.

at that dose its ok, a good hit without killing my throat, i still need to work on it, and find the level that works.

thats what probably this is all about, we have the equipment out there to use, but without the right e liquid it just wont work for you.

id say its 30% equipment and 70% e liquid that's important.

based on what i have.

so i feel very positive i can give up the fags, the way the mods work these days are amazing, so much better than they did before, but i just gotta find the right e liquid.

so because im splitting the 45mg into 4 parts im getting around 11mg per tank which is just fine for me.

the thing im thinking about is what to do when i order next time, on flavour art . com they have this extrabite stuff which is what caused this super throat hit, along with the fact its 45mg nicotine, they also do a smooth, and a regular e liquid, and of course you have to set the nicotine level too, so im a bit confused as to what to go for.

Juice Components
Flavoring usually about 3- 15%- could be higher or lower depending on the flavor used.
PG enhances flavor, TH and lung hit- water like - many of us believe PG to be a throat irritant.
VG= vapor and can mute flavor- thick
Nicotine- TH, lung hit and our need for nicotine. The MOST important ingredient in regards to TH and lung hit.
Standards in the industry are 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG. Many are moving towards a 50/ 50 ratio as it provides a smoother vape.
About 1 1/2 yrs ago friends and I bought and tried a number of TH enhancers. We all agreed they were more like throat irritants.
