Im having issues with my protank 2

I have the 4 of the protank 2 and haven't had an issue with any of them leaking. The only issue I've noticed is when they get down to about 1/4 a tank they do gurgle sometimes. sometimes the little gasket over the wick isnt seated properly and that could be the issue. A coworker of mine also told me to try soaking the heads in 8 oz of botted wated with a tablespoon of distilled vinegar then to let them dry for a day. I tried that and I've had no issues with my heads burning out or dry vapes, so i dunno.

I got my Protank 2 about three weeks ago. It worked at first, like they all do. After two days, the gurgling started. I did the usual cleaning, take it apart, dried it, rinse and repeat. It worked for a few minutes, then the gurgling. I gave up.

I bought two rebuildables, first time attempt (from different manufacturers), one worked right out of the box and hadn't rebuilt it. It's got gurgling when overfilled, but it disappears, and I'm sticking with it and loving it.

Seems odd, but I have the opposite problem. My Protank 2 and 3 work great for me but my iclear30 leaks like mad. I haven't fiddled with the iclear much yet to see if I can fix it, but with all the good reviews of them, I figure I must have something loose on it. I did have some issues with a Protank 3 at one point, but I found out that the o-ring on the coil had slightly slipped down on one side. I do have to add that what I am really impressed with right now is a new Smoketech RSST that I just picked up. Built my first stainless wick and coil and the flavor and vapor are unreal compared to the Protanks. Not that I will go to the genesis style exclusively, but really enjoying it atm. I guess my 2 cents is whatever works for you is the best for you, and even if what you tried didn't work well, I think the experience gained is well worth it. Find what you like and go that route, and when you want to try something else, use your gained experience to help decide what you want to try.

i have had a few issues with the pro tanks. but i am pleased with them so far.
the pt i have to remove ONE of the flavor wicks or I get dry hits..when One of the wicks is removed thin juice ( higher pg ) when warmer will leak so keeping in pocket on a hot day it will be leaky..lol but i like in washington state it dont get real hot
now my pt2 is really different.. i just put juice in it and vape away i really havent had issues with it so far..i usually would get abought a week on a coil i dont wash em clean em nothing one week when they start to gurgle they are done..i think you can try to clean em but at 1 dollar each i toss them away..i ilike the 1.8 coils i have had nothing but trouble with every other coil i havent had a bad coil except for the krappy ones that come with the tanks..
they are cheap and easy to maintain they have made my vape experience better than it was when i was using cartos
ohhhh ya nothing beats a killer drippin atty from cisco hh 357 spendy but worth it IMO
btw when on my mvp v2 7.5-8 watts i am getting coils to last alot longer...wierd but awesome my provari mini kills em in a week at 3.8 v

Total newb here, so nothing in the way of knowledge to offer...but in the week or so that I've been using the protank mini and protank 2 mini, I have had no leaking or gurgling at all from either. I grabbed them to get away from the same issues from the el-cheapo clearomizers I had used for a month before. Happy with them so far. Now I ordered one of the Kanger Unitank minis...when it works, it works, but I have lost about 3 tanks just filling the darned thing up! After every tank full I have to take it apart, wash and dry it, or I'm most likely to get some freaky leak that will drain the whole tank within a minute or two after filling it. Too much overhead labor for me and wish I had gotten another protank mini.

I'm glad I read this thread though...I got the minis because I use an eGo twist battery and felt the full sized protank would look odd. I've ordered a iTaste SVD though and was eyeballing some ebay protanks. I'll forgo that decision now a bit longer! :)

Well well well, wouldn't you know it? Apparently I jinxed myself. Not a drip or gurgle out of my protank 2 minis until about an hour after I made that post above, then one of the darned things decided to prove me wrong. Lost about 1/4 tank of my favorite juices when I blew through it to clear it too. ARRRRGGGG! :) Thankfully 1/4 tank in the protank minis isn't all that much (trying to be positive I suppose!)

:glare:

I just noticed a slight gurgle in mine, thought I was pulling too hard, tank was down to less than a quarter, refilled and the gurgle is gone!:2cool:
I have found this to be true. I did some digging and found out that this is a common issue, but that simply breaking the seal is the key. There is a vacuum building in the tank creating these issues. Simply remove the base and allow it to burp, and put it back together.

I've had similar issues on my mvp as well...

You can buy a base for a protank2 mini and it works just fine with the normal protank2. I did it and I haven't had any of the typical issues with my tank since. I know vapor alley sells them but I'm sure they can be had elsewhere.

If anyone here happens to have a mini base lying around feel free to stick it on your normal protank2 and back me up :)

Sun Vapers is a premium Kanger reseller in San Diego County. has them.

Protank Mini II's seem to gurgle a lot less then full sized, bottom coiled tanks. At least, they do out of the ones I have. I get much better flavor and vapor out of my iClear 30 b and 16 b, and prefer to use those despite the slight gurgling I get when the liquid is low in them. I love my original iClear 30 as well. Tight draw isn't a problem for me, and the only time it leaked was do to an overly gunked up coil. A soak in alcohol and a dry burn fixed it. Drawback to the top coils though, is that when you have to get to the coil, you loose all that liquid. It's like watching money get washed down the drain. :glare: I'm kind of phasing out my top coils because of that. The iClear 16 tastes great and I love the very warm vape from them, but they seem to leak a lot on me, for various reasons. Granted, I can usually figure it out and fix it, but to do so means I loose liquid.

Carto tanks have been phenominal for me though. I use IBTanked glass carto tanks and Smok prepunched cartos. Taste is better then anything else I've tried to date, and so far they haven't sprung a leak. Also, they don't appear to be the juice guzzlers that all my dual coil tanks seem to be. Drawback is filling the cartos before inserting them into the tank. I've seen the videos of filling the little silicone boot they come in halfway, and then place the carto inside, but the ones I got from IBTanked didn't come with those, so I had to drip the liquid in. It was a PITA, but since a tank seems to last me a while, and I'm supposed to be able to just add more liquid into the tank until the carto tastes bad (should get a couple of refills, no?) it may be worth it. We'll see how long the cartos last.

Im also having major issues with my Mini Protank II. I know its authentic, I checked the code with Kanger and got from a reliable dealer. 1/2 the time it works okay, 1/2 the time is gurgles and spits fluid into my mouth. I fixed the leaking issue for a bit, but this tank just sucks. A real dissapointment, as the reviews I researched were outstanding. When it works, its a dream...but I have had too many probs with it. I want to like it, but find myself using my little evod tanks more. Just ordered an Iclear30 with the MVP2, so If anyone has a suggestion on a better tank, please let me know!

A few ways to troubleshoot and remedy your Protank 2

Gurgling.
Keep your Protank 2 at least half full. Have you ever had a milkshake and sucked it down to the bottom of the cup? You know that gurgling sound it makes? Ok then. Ever consider that you may have gotten some liquid in your center tube while filling your Protank 2? When I suspect I've allowed liquid in my center tube I unscrew the base of my Protank 2 ( you'll allow it to "burp" as well by doing this ), I then remove the drip tip from my Protank 2 and wipe out any liquid that has collected where my drip tip was, I then blow through the drip tip end to remove liquid that was accidentally let inside the center tube.

Protank not "firing".
Has your Protank 2 pushed the center pin down on your battery? This is known to happen with Protank 2s when over tightened. You can try taking a small flat head or point of a knife and carefully work around the pin raising it, be careful doing this though, you can damage your battery if you're not. Another quick piece of troubleshooting is to make sure your coil head is properly secured into the base of your Protank 2.

Try some of these easy fixes to common issues before writing the Protank 2 off as junk or disappointing. Remember that a lot of these issues are caused by user error as well as not performing routine and regular maintenance. The Protank 2 has advantages over other similar tanks because it is a bottom coil thus eliminating the need to constantly tilt tanks to keep wicks wet. Another advantage is that it is glass thus allowing you to use juices that would otherwise destroy most plastic tanks.

Edit: As far as juices tasting "off", dry hits, little to no vapor, leaking etc., there are many posts through out this forum as well as the internet that will help remedy those issues as well.

I'm vaping an old Protank right now and it works just fine. The gurgling issue is just the condensation that forms in the air tube when you vape. Twist up the corner of a paper towel tight enough that it will slide down into the mouthpiece to the bottom of the tube and use it to absorb the condensation. The tip will come out wet and the gurgling will go away. I have to do that at least once a day, but I live in the South where the humidity levels frequently get up into the 80% range.

Put a clear drip tip on your Protank 2 and you will see the drops forming inside it. When it runs down to the coil, the gurgling starts and the hits get weak.

My current Protank has been used so much that the chrome is wearing off the drip tip end and the copper is showing through.

I actually like the flavor I get from the Kanger TS3 better, but that and my Provari are a little too long to fit in a jeans pocket without sticking out.
