Hey everyone....

I just started 'vaping' about a month ago... I have the Pink Ego. I LOVE it, although I feel like I have made so many mistakes, and I have NO idea WTH I am doing. I have been using atomizers that came with my e-cigs, and refillable carts... only it seems like I was having to 'top off' ALL the freaking time. :?: So I ordered the XL atomizer and carts. Now, here is one of my biggest questions.... Why does my ego taste so HORRIBLE??? It literally makes me want to toss my cookies. My second question is how do I clean my atomizers? I am so confused.

If there is anyone out there that can help me, and walk me through this, I would be so grateful....

I just want to use my ego without wanting to upchuck...

Have you tried the cartomizer? You don't have to top off as often with a carto. You don't want to run them dry because you could singe the stuffing and shorten the life of the cartomizer. When a carto's vapor gets lighter or seem a bit drier, try tilting the ecig carto down for about 5 seconds to distribute the juice in the carto. If that doesn't help much then add more juice. And I am talking about standard soft-cap cartos with stuffing. I imagine reservoir cartos that you fill with a special syringe probably can get lower in juice before you add more. Treat a carto right and you can get good use out of them. I have 2 cartos and one is into its 4th week of use.

Re new attys - you need to get that awful primer out. You blow it out into a tissue. Then prime the atty bridge with 3 or so drops of juice and wait to let it soak down to the element. Then vape it off with a dummy empty cart (maybe one came with the atty) but do not inhale. Vape it mostly off but don't vape the atty to totally dry. Blow out and repeat - prime, wait, vape it off until it tastes ok on inhale. Then reprime and use the filled cart.

Re juice flavor - many juices don't have flavors. They have aromas. Your tongue can only sense sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami (MSG). So you can taste the sweet in a juice or the sweet/sour in something like cherry but all of the rest is aroma. Remember to let your nose have some vapor. Let it drift out of your mouth a bit so your nose can catch some on the inhale.

Re manual batteries - your press should come a bit earlier than the start of your drag (like 1 second or so earlier) and let the button up slightly before the end of your drag.

Thank you soooo much!!! First I'm going to blow out my other new atomizer, and then clean my others since I had no idea they were suppose to be cleaned to begin with. How can you tell if your atty is going bad? Mine old ones are probably shot since I didn't take proper care of them...

If I blow out my atty, and fill a new cart, will it taste ok? Should I drop some juice on the bridge as well?

I started with those when I first got my ego, but I didn't like them... I could barley tell I was 'smoking'... but then again I was probably filling them wrong. I feel a little stupid... :(

I have an Ego also, I wish I would have found it a few years ago, because its awesome. I have noticed that when I get a new one it takes a little while to kind of break it in. What I mean by that is get it good with my flavor of choice. I notice that after a while the taste starts to change a bit, and thats when I take it apart and blow out the atty. I also like to keep a few extra atty's handy just in case I change from a sweet fruity flavor to a more mild tobacco flavor, because sometime you can't blow all the juice flavor out. I have learned from reading the responses to your post that you can clean it out with alcohol. I will be trying that soon. Just curious, have you tried flavored juice, or are you just using tobacco flavor? :)

Personally, of the 3 methods of juice delivery (carts, cartos & dripping), I've found carts to be the least effective.

I understand your problems with cartos so far; my first few experiences were gawd awful, and I swore off them for months. Turns out I just needed the right cartomizer, like these Boge 510s: Electronic Cigarette - Cartomizers - Boge Cartomizers

In the meantime, you might try dripping. Just remove the cart, remove the stuffing from the cart, drip 3 or so drops directly onto the atomizer coil (unless it's a new atty, in which case you need to blow the primer out and season it with about 5 drops). Replace the empty cart and go. You're good for about the equivalent of a cigarette.

You're not stupid.

Rainygirl... Thank you for your reply... I've been using flavored juices... right now I am trying Blueberry... it is ehh. I loved peach, and cherry.

And yes I like 311... lol

Thank you PI!! I have never tried dripping... I just might give it a shot. I blew out my other new atty, placed 2-4 drops on the bridge, filled a new cart, and it's barley vaping!!!!!! What have I done now. Someone should write a book... "vaping for Dummies'! Bahahaha
