I'm off to a real rocky start.

Hi - just got my Johnson Creek juice in today.
Put Red Oak in both my mvp2 w/ i30 that came with it & also put it in the vv3 w/ a protank mini 3.
It tastes terrible & I don't think I'm getting very good hits, especially with the vv3.
I remember I tried a few puffs of JC tobacco flavor thru a JC Vea a while ago & I liked it.
This stuff tastes bad & there's no way this will get me off cigs.
Now I'm sure a lot of this is due to my own inexperience & I think I have to go & do a little more studying on proper way to fill
& use the tanks & also how to draw correctly.
I also got a 5pk sampler of other JC tobacco flavors, so maybe one of them will work better for me.
I'm just noting my 1st impressions.

Can you be more specific?

JC is a good company, but their juice for ME tends to taste a little "mesquite-like", which is wonderful if you like that smokey flavor.

Maybe it's just not for you. That was my first ejuice, as a matter of fact, and Tribecca, which tasted like sewing machine oil to me LOL

So is it just the taste or something elese that is bothering you?

Which Red Oak is it?

I bought a 30ml of their Red Oak "Domestic" a while back. Definitely not my thing either. I taste a lot of charcoal in it and I just couldn't get into it.

For me, trying to match the taste of cigarette became a disappointment. It really can't be done. Which is good, because cigarettes taste like crap. ;)

What I eventually discovered that I liked were some sweeter flavored tobacco e-liquids. My favorite being Smooth Criminal from Ahlusion. I also recently tried a couple from Heather's Heavenly Vapes, and they are also a good quality.

Do you have a vape store near you? If you do, I'd recommend going there as just about every one I've ever been in has a tasting bar. Go in, taste until you find something you enjoy, buy it and vape happily. Don't let a bad tasting juice be justification for not giving up cigarettes. Just don't do that.

My favorite JC juice is Tennessee Cured & it's great in a mini protank 3. Be sure to use the updated coils & to let the coil warm up. First few hits may be like steam, but keep hitting it. If u don't mind a bit if fruit with your tobacco, a local company I foresee going national has a GREAT blueberry tobacco

Castle Blue

I can only assume, since the tobacco flavor is so good, their best seller "Hicktown" is also good. I was vaping JC TC when I wanted a cig, to get that tobacco flavor, but now I go with Castle Blue. Such a smooth tobacco with a very authentic blueberry flavor. I promise you, it's great stuff & I have no affiliation with them whatsoever. THREE never-smokers have LOVED it, believe it or not & every quitter who has tried it has ordered it. good luck & don't quit quitting!!

I'm intrigued. Going to give it a shot. Always looking for another great tobacco flavor. Price is reasonable too.

If you order, please let me know what you think. I went into the store looking for my usual dessert flavors (not at all looking for a tobacco) & walked out happy as a clam with Castle Blue. What sold me on trying it the fact both staff claimed CB as their ADV, for many months. They sell Sash Sauce (sp?) & Mountain Oak is why I walked in. They also have this Orange Mountain Dew flavor & they told me I would taste the carbonation & I could! Strangest thing ever.

Thanks for the tip about steeping, gonna go read it after this. I removed the Red Oak Tn. Cured from both tanks & cleaned them. Tried JC Original in the mini protank & 1st 2 puffs tasted overly sweet & slightly medicinal. Set it aside & took a few more puffs an hr. later & it actually tastes pretty good. Put the pg version of Tn. Cured in the
iclear & it tastes slightly better than the Red Oak version.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but....I told my friend that if I ever started talking about liking fruity flavors or cherry bubblegum that he should come to my house & 'beat me up',lol.
And based upon my 1st impressions with these tobacco flavors & what you are telling me & what I'm reading elsewhere, I might actually be trying these non traditional
flavors & maybe even liking them.
OMG, what's happening to me!
Seriously though, if this gets me off tobacco, any flavor will do, even cherry bubblegum.
And I'll say this again; you people are an amazing group, didn't expect so many replies to this post.
Well, off to read about steeping.
thanks again.

While its normal for most smokers to try and stick to a tobacco type flavor, there is nothing wrong with liking fruits or dessert types. What ever works for you is what is good for you.

That said, I still prefer tobacco types. However, I do NOT like the synthetic (made in a lab) flavors and prefer something called NET which stands for Naturally Extracted Tobacco. These are flavors derived from tobacco, normally pipe tobacco though cigar is used as well. These tend to have a more 'robust' flavor. There are many vendors out there, each with their own spin and favorite tobacco used as a base. My personal favorite is EtherVapes.com. The tobacco flavors, to me, are the smoothest and with the strongest showing. Not covered up by too much added flavor or sweetness and does not taste 'medicinally' or 'florally'. The blends are just right.

Give my personal favorites Top Leaf, Nomad, and Confederate a try... you wont be disappointed: Timeless Tobaccos

Almost everyone thinks they are only going to like tobacco flavors @ first. I remember thinking that too. But go to any B & M & the owner, a serious vaper, will be hitting berries & cream or something like that. Cigarettes are nicotine delivery systems. Classical conditioning applies. Pair a desired drug with a taste & that taste becomes desirable. But in & of itself, if never paired with the drug, tobacco doesn't taste that great to most if us. In contrast, we are hard-wired from birth to like the taste of fruits, survival imperative. One flavor (tobacco) we have been conditioned to like, the other flavor we like from birth. Therefore, most vapers move to sweeter flavors over time.

Also, JC is pre-steeped and I do not find it gets better with steeping. In fact, after a month or so I store mine in the frig, to stop the steeping as much as I can. JC juices are just finicky, they gunk up coils so they need to be cleaned/swapped out more often. I stuck with JC for a long time, having ever found a tobacco I liked, until the Castle Blue I mentioned. Juices like that one are just so much easier to work with than JC.
