I got my volt kit about a week or so ago and now everything is falling apart.

My first automatic sealed battery died on me the second day. Whenever I inhaled the LED would stay on and continue to burn away at the cartomizer. I had to disconnect the battery from the cartomizer and let it sit for awhile until it decided to shut of on it's own. Kinda scary because it will stay on for a minute sometimes.

My other battery was okay. Every time I would inhale the LED stayed on until it blinked 2 times, I'm guessing this was the 5 second cut off, apparently the other battery didn't have it. But even if I only take one small tiny inhale the LED stays on until the light blinks.

Now for the past few days the only battery that works is starting to fail on me. It takes forever to start up. I literally have to inhale for 15 seconds until the LED comes on. The only way I can describe it is starting a lawn mower. Once it's started it's easier to use. After that the battery works, the LED seems to flicker when I use it.

I contacted the smokeless image website and they replaced one of the batteries but were out of the color I wanted so I decided to play it safe and ask for a manual battery. But this was over a week ago, I should be getting the new battery today....

BUT I have yet to tell them of my OTHER battery that is slowly diminishing.

:( at least I still have my joye 510 auto....

Anyone else buy a kit only to have both batteries die on them? or do I just have horrible luck?

I have a few volt auto batteries and never had this happen. When you inhale its supposed to light up and go dark when you are not inhaling. if its blinking it means it needs to be charged. If it continues to light up after you put it down you probably got some juice in the connector end . Is it a sealed auto or the original auto? Do you remove your carto when you refill the juice? If its an auto you should- if its unsealed its a must.

They are both sealed autos. I don't drip and when I fill my cartos I take them off first.

I charged my batts to full.

They usually blink many times when they are dead. I'm guessing when it blinks twice it's the 5 second cut off.

I also tried to clean them with a dry tissue.

When I compare it to my joye510 auto the volt battery just isn't working right.

I did check out the thread, it is huge like shilohcalista mentioned.

The thread mostly consists of everyone raving about the product, which I'm not doubting.

I'm sure my batteries were just bad, it happens once in a while I suppose. I have a few months left on the warranty. I'll try to stick it out for another month. Maybe the performance might increase. It sounds very strange that I wouldn't want to replace the battery, but smokeless image has already replaced one battery, and the one I have now is fine for now.

Its not too bad. It's just varies from good to bad once in a while.

If I was you I would contact them and tell them what you told us here. You don't want to end up with only one functioning battery and if there are some kinks with the new sealed autos they need to know. JMO. Good luck sir -- I only had problems with the pass thru's I bought from them and they took care of the problem with the first one.

I've been quite careful to not get a drop of juice on these batteries. Although they were "drip resistant" I still made sure I treated them like any other auto battery I've had.

But I cannot dismiss your comment. Is there a way to fix this if this is the case? How exactly does an automatic battery work?
Could you answer this for me?

You can try to place them in alcohol Mylose sir, but the success rate is very low. The way an auto works is there it's a switch that activates with negative pressure. If juice gets in there the switch gets stuck, causing it either to never cut off after activation or not activate at all. Horizontal coil cartos have a bad habit of not showing they're over filled until puffed on from what I've seen. You may not think they're overfilled but all of a sudden they leak after a few draws.

There are two different types of automatic battery switches. The old style actually had a condenser microphone in them which detected sound, and after a certain threshold (the wind from the suction is quite loud in those little tubes even though we don't hear much), they would kick on. This proved to be an issue if they were too sensitive, or the owner carried them in their pocket to a night club or concert where there were loud sounds.

The newer style uses a magnetic switch. A weak magnet holds a metal shim in place until enough suction is applied through the tube to pull the shim off the magnet and make a connection to a contact behind it and complete the circuit between the battery and atomizer. These generally shut off the second that there is no longer any suction as the magnet pulls the shim forward again, and off of the contact.

It is highly likely that you have the ladder described switch - the magnetic one. If short draws are keeping the switch activated until the cutoff circuit stops it, then there is simply an issue with the metal shim sticking to the contact and not being pulled back by the magnet. The magnet could be too weak, the shim could be too stiff, or there could be a sticky substance on the contact. Either way, the batteries are most likely defective and should be RMA'd.
