I just rebuilt my REO Mini!! I watched the video about six times in a row.....I even watched in on YouTube (instead of on the Reosmods site) so I could make it full screen. THEN I DID IT!!! And it's working. I know a lot of you guys are very mechanically inclined and won't see this as a big deal, but to me this is a BIG deal. Now that I've done it, I can say....it was a piece of cake thanks to Rob's step-by-step video.

That's awesome. Congrats, means that you don't have to send your beloved Reo to Maine to have it rebuilt from now on.

Yep. That's EXACTLY what it means! Even as fast as the turnaround time is, I have to do without one of my REOs for at least a week every time. And I won't have to BUG Rob with my silliness. Did I mention that I'm so PROUD!

Congrats JC!!! You're not the only one that's proud of you ;)

vaping your first good rebuild is definitely an ecstatic moment, was for me at least :toast:

After I got it all put back together, I was holding my breath until it fired! It had a bad gasket and had fried two springs in a row. I put it off.....trying to decide whether to send it to Maine or just suck it up and give it a try. I decided the worst that could happen is I'd screw it up and have to send it in anyway. Actually.....the worst that could happen really is that I would strip the screw getting the delrin plate back on. But I was careful and it worked.

Rebuilding stuff is fun, I can't wait to rebuild one of these little guys and see whats going on inside these things. I love tinkering around with stuff, and I've ripped my iphone apart on numerous occasions to see the insides and change stuff out. lol..

Eewww.....not me. I was a nervous wreck. But I didn't want to send it in.....rebuilding was the lesser of two evils. :)

I am very proud of you! I am very mechanically inclined & everytime I hear stories like this where someone "thinks" they're not & succeeds it puts a big smile on my face. Never know and can't learn if you don't try! :toast:

Just curious, did you break the nipple of like how Robert shows in the video? I have not rebuilt on of my Reos yet but I have disassembled the 510/firing pin assy. I unscrewed the nipple & screwed it back on after cleaning. Wondering if the nipple breaks off with ease?

Yeah I know what the nervous feeling is like. I totally rebuilt one of my ATV's from the ground up. I had this thing stripped to the frame, rebuilt it and did like 3 grand worth of modifications to it (and this was my first ATV build, I've always been a Dirtbike guy). But I got it put all back together fueled and oiled, and went to start it up. I was completely covered in sweat because I was afraid I did something wrong or missed something, but I turned the key kicked started it once, no start, kicked it the second time and it fired up. It was a great feeling, and I was full of pride and felt really good about myself.

Feeling prideful about something you accomplished is the most rewarding feeling you can ever have. IMHO

I've done it both ways, had to break one off because the slot was wore off the center pin and I couldn't unscrew it. It breaks off easily but you can't reuse either piece afterwards. I prefer unscrewing if possible and I don't super glue when putting back together.

Jan, YOU ROCK!

My daughter had a few REO's that were in need of a rebuild. She bought kits and did them all. I told her that I would be scared to try. She sat down here pulled out her Grand and proceeded to take it apart. In a couple of minutes she had everything out, let me look at the parts and then put it all back together. She said she was scared doing the first one. But after that it was a piece of cake!

I am still on the fence about doing it if it is ever needed.

You and her give me more confidence that I should at least try!

Thanks for sharing!!!
