OK, so got my first batches of tanks (ViVi Nova and Splitfire) and RBAs (Storm Genesis, Smok Vivi), and I have to say I really enjoy rebuilding coils! The first 2 are not RBAs per say, but they had their internals torn apart and I rebuilt the coils using Walmart brand 'Peaches & Cream' cotton yarn wicks and some of the wire left over from the Storm Genesis kit. I also did the same for the Smok Vivi, as I did not like theirs also (Also enlarged the wick holes on this one!), and all I can say is "DAMN all three of these things rock!!!".... No more silica wicks for me!

The Storm Genesis is very good also, just wish the hole lined up when fully closed on the top. Also, I have a few questions on this setup....

1. After each tank full it seems like I have to either remove the remaining liquid or when refilled the new tank full tastes like .... Is this normal? If not did I do something wrong in the building of the SS Wick/Coil?
2. While I like the 1.8 ohm coils im making, I would like to make some 3 ohm ones....what is everyone else using in way of Kanth gauge wire to achieve this?

All in all it looks like I might as well get some wire on order as I am truly sold on these!

1. Not sure, maybe your juices are mixing and making the flavor like that?
2. You have 2 options, you can either wrap more coils. Or you can increase the gauge of kanthal wire (i.e if your using 30 get 32 or 34) so that you can keep the # of wraps down. The higher the gauge, the higher the resistance per unit of measurement. There is a sticky at the top of the RBA section that you will find useful.

Also about the air hole not lining up, I know some people have sanded down the bottom of the cap lightly until they can get it to line up with the wick.

Good luck

You should be able to achieve 3 ohm with your 34g Kanthal, I personally would not use the 36g, you are asking for tempermental issues. The taste issues may have to do with hot spots or a dry wick, you were a little vague in your description. I have not noticed any flavor changes unless I am vaping a dry wick with a hot spot? Good luck.

The nasty. I believe the nasty comes from sugary carbon buildup from sweeter juices. I think the coil gunk leeches its way back into the wick and back into the reservoir. I find it happens more with my cotton ball wicks then it does with cotton candle wick I figure its because they hold a higher percentage of juice overall.

This is my biggest beef with the ViVi mini.

I am vaping my Welches Grape Soda (Which is crystal clear when put in), but I did notice that the very bottom of the tank ends up with a brownish/red separation after vaping for about an hour or so. I am going to stop using this thing (Going to be hard) till I can find out what this is....I was worried that it was rust, but everything is nice and clean on the top side....Ill see if I can get a picture of the liquid as an example....

This is the result after 1 hour.....notice the brownish color at the bottom of the tank.

If you oxidized the h3ll out of your mesh, the carbon tends to seep into the juice. It happens naturally, and continues to happen as more carbon builds up on the coils. As the juice vaporizes, it can leave behind a residue that also seeps into the tank. Your problem seems to be more about the juice than the device.
