I'm starting to give up... Someone help.

I have tried and tried and tried to be self sufficient and teach myself and keep saying i got this, and watch videos and read and research as much as i can, tried everyone on youtubes entire database of videos to try it "their" way. (a bit of an overstatement lol) But I have finally cracked, and decided to stop being lazy and make an account on a good ecig forum and ask the community for help myself.

I have spent hundreds of dollars on RDA's / MODs/juice, right now I am running the Amerivape Skyline / Tugboat V2. I am very in to cloud chasing, yes flavor is still important but I really feel like the builds I am making and the way I am wicking it really isn't producing what it should, so I guess I should post pics and tell you guys the specifics of my coil build and wicking methods. I just want to say ahead of time thank you to anyone and everyone who is willing to help me with my problem.

I am using royal wire, 22g, 4 wraps, around 1/8 drill bit, CAN YOU EVEN DO THAT? lol. I don't see anywhere, anyone with 22g 4 wrap royal on 1/8 builds. Is that too little wraps for that kind of wire on that big a drill bit? I am using koh gen doh, I put enough cotton where it wont pull my coils or even really move my mod for the most part.. "snug" you could say . When I look at my coils and my build, I always say.. this is it!! Finally. and then after i flood the darn thing with juice, I get 1 good hit (juice will literally have to be spewing into my mouth as i'm vaping mind you) after the first hit and halfway into the second one, it jsut won't wick fast enough.. it's almost like its too powerful for the wicking to keep up, which leave me to think that using royal wire with 4 wraps 1/8th drill bit is the problem.. i originally was doing 6 wraps 5/64 drill bit(royal), but i wasn't getting anywhere near the clouds i've seen other people blowing with lesser hardware. clones even. HELP ME GUYS!

If you're getting dry hits with an RDA then you're still using too much cotton. You've got about a 0.3 Ohm coil from what you said. On a fully charged battery that will give you about 60 Watts (depending on voltage drop) on a mechanical mod. That's a lot of watts. Your wicking is more than likely your problem.

How do I know when its too much cotton though? I tried the ( tug the cotton through and make sure the mod doesnt tip over / move thing, i'm at a loss..

I enjoy blowing a moderate cloud or two on occasion, but i never really understood these low wrap, brick wire builds. Vapor production depends on coil surface area (amongst other things), which is pretty low on these builds.

Next, that wire takes a lot of energy to heat up, but once it does things go hot quite quickly which needs to be compensated for with high airflow.
The tugboat really does not strike me like a cloudchaser atty either.

Perhaps give some 26 gauge builds a try. 6-8 wraps, or possibly a parallel build. I honestly feel that slightly thinner wire might benefit that atty.
And yes, it does sound like you are choking your wicks so thats where the wicking issue might come from.

Material and profile; yes that refers to the type of wire.
If you just use kanthal it's a good way to learn; afterwards you can use fancier wire when you have experience.

Leg length: that's the extra length of wire used up between the coil and the post where it screws down; just leave the default value of 5mm unless it's obviously longer or shorter on your build.

diameter of wire: you said you were using 22 gauge; that's the diameter.
Unfortunately its 'Royal wire' that you are using, so unless you figure out what on the list under 'materials and profile' comes closest to 'royal wire' you can't use this.

Ever try a Magma???? Great for flavor not so much for clouds but I never have issues with wicking and dry hits in the Magma parallel coils are great in the Magma

Sweet, thanks. I haven't been on to see all the replies. I figured it out I actually tried the 5 wraps before I read this. I don't seem to be having wicking issues anymore, the problem was the tugboat I have didnt have enough airholes, and the royal wires was just getting too hot for that little amount of airflow. So in reality I wasn't having any issues at all, I was doing everything to the T. I popped on a more open rda (troll mod) with bigger / more holes, and it's chuckin huge clouds and producing great flavor.

lol.. No way, I've been building coils for 3 years now, and using rebuildables. I'll never go back, I'll use tanks when I'm out and about sometimes or for work, very seldom though

Glad you got it working good.... More air flow, better clouds. Also the higher VG the better clouds as well. I usually have about 7 wraps twisted 26 guage Kanthal A-1(@ .3 ohms)and will get really good clouds even though I am a flavor chaser personally.

I'd love to try a twisted pair / parallel build, scared i'll mess up and blow my mod up lol

5mm inner diameter seems pretty gigantic. Personally it'd try a 26gauge build in the tugboat. like 7-8 wrap on 2.5mm is my standard build.
