I apologize in advance for the rant.

I just turned 27 and have been smoking Marlboro Smooths since I was 20. Anywhere from a half-a-pack to a pack a day. I feel disgusting. I'm 350 pounds, hate my job, friends stopped wanting to be around me, and just all around miserable. I needed to make a change and I knew that I wouldn't get back to my Crew physique from college in a day, my job wouldn't magically become interesting, and I wouldn't turn into a socialite overnight. I made the decision last Sunday morning that this would be my last Smooth. I thought maybe if I do this one thing, I can start chipping away at putting my life back together.

Now a week and a day since my last smoke, I'm struggling badly. Everything was going so amazingly well the first couple days. My local vape shop advised that I get the MVP v2, Aspire Nautilus, and some ejuices I tried out in the store. vaping tasted so good, I literally couldn't believe how easy this was and how stupid I've been for not doing this sooner. As of last Thursday I felt fantastic for the first time in a long time..

All I've had since are problems. First was my Nautilus tank. It started spitting juice in my mouth constantly. I flew back to the store and they told me I had a bad coil. They replaced it and assured me my tank and MVP were fine, and not 2 hours later it flooded again. I've been through 3 coils since and it keeps doing the same thing. I went to a different place and bought a Kanger Aerotank which I guess is fine I don't even know.

On Thursday my real serious issue began. What appeared to be a flick of a switch, I now can't taste a damn thing. My Unicorn Milk ejuice which was absolutely delicious tastes like nothing. My menthol juice tastes like nothing with a gross pepper finish, the other 2 flavors I bought are the same deal. Food now tastes like nothing. Sucking on lifesavers is like sucking on pieces of plastic.

Today is my 4th full day of this garbage. I've been online all weekend reading about vapers tongue/fatigue and tried everything. It only has made it worse. Pickles, vinegar, Biotene wash, gallons of water... nothing. I was perfectly fine and content up until this started, now I'm about to give up and buy a pack.I read on this forum some people saying they've had this for over a month!!! That to me is very serious and all new vapers should be aware that this can happen to them. I had no idea it even existed until I typed "can't taste anything after vaping" into google. I'm at my wits end here and its only day 4. What the hell am I supposed to do?

I smoked 47 years if I can do it you can. That said it takes the willingness to spend the money and try other type tanks and question everything. On this forum you can ask any question and you'll get many things to try. When I first started all there were... were tiny batteries that lasted a couple hours but I knew if I hung in there it could work. The equip is so much better today but the thing that works for some may not work for you so don't give up just keep trying. You will go through times when nothing seems to work and equip just breaks that is why so many of us always say have backups upon backups. You are not alone we have all been there so take advantage of the help. If I can help pls pm me. One thing I learned is the more you read through the threads you can pick up totally unrelated things that will help.

Take a deep breath. Quitting smoking is not easy. Really. I have a suspicion that at least part your anxiety and unhappiness comes from your withdrawal symptoms. Those can be vicious.

Vapor's tongue comes and goes, so just keep that in mind.

Are you getting enough nicotine in your juice? Too much? Something to consider.

Aerotanks are nice--I love mine.

Try to stick with vaping. Good luck!

It's normal, most of us have hit this speed bump. I smoked a pack and half of Winston reds for almost 30 years. It kills your taste buds. Think about a night of clubbing or bar hopping and you smoked too much, the next day it took a while to get that flavor back. Same thing, except that vaping takes longer. A few days on the same juice produces the same effect. It passes. Don't worry about it too much. Just don't give it. Once you start to heal from smoking analogs you become more resistant to the blahs.

Welcome to ECF, congrats on trying to make the switch.

As far as the flooding goes, try taking a lighter drag. You don't want to suck hard like you do on a cigarette, just a light draw in, most clearomizers do better like that.

For the vaper's tongue, drink water like you have been, make sure you brush your tongue when you brush your teeth, and maybe try a menthol flavor. Menthol tends to power through anything.

Hang in there Jesse, it will get better. I went through the vapers tongue thing for about a week and a half and it wasn't much fun not being able to taste the good vape I wanted so bad but I stuck with it and it went away and the flavor came back. Yea everything didn't taste right but knowing I wasn't smoking helped me get through it along with reading all the success stories on here.
Keep on vaping even if you can't taste it, you will get that nic fix you need right now and feel good about yourself that you aren't smoking! Hang in there, things will get much better very soon and remember you have a huge support system right here! Read this forum a lot, read the success stories and learn about all the cool equipment out there, just keep your mind occupied with vaping and before you know it your taste will be back and you will be feeling great about yourself for making a big accomplishment in your life!

Welcome to ECF Uncle00Jesse. :) You've gotten good advice. The learning curve looks like the profile of El Capitan, unfortunately. It does get easier and believe it or not, you're off to a better start than many. Your taste in juice is going to evolve as your taste buds revive. Slow and steady as she goes. If worse comes to worse, someone just swore on another thread that a shot of hard liquor got rid of their vaper's tongue, lol. Hang in there.

When I first started I had many days where things were haywire. When I got to the point I was ready to scream I sat down and smoked a cigarette. As the days went by those times happened less and less. Once I found a system that worked for me I had to have a cig every so often to see if I really wanted them. They began to taste really bad and I was amazed, I kept asking myself how did I smoke these damn things all those years. It really was amazing and if you truly want out you will keep at it. It does help to learn as much as you can about the coils, their ohms and how it affects vaping.

Yeah man hang in there it'll be worth it. The vapes tongue will go away on its own but like that said above me, a shot of hard liquor is never bad for taste (or for the nerves lol). I went through a similar struggle. It felt like everything was coning apart at the seams. ECF is here to help you through it.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add:
I know you told yourself no more smoking, but that is a very tough thing to do, even with vaping. If you slip and have a smoke, it's not the end of the world, making the switch is about the cigarettes you don't have, not the ones you do. So if you normally smoked 20 a day, and you only have 15 because you started vaping, that's 5 victories that day. It's a process, and we're all here rooting for you.

You can do this Jesse, you know you can! Try to remember that anything worthwhile (especially quitting the analogs) is worth the effort, and it takes time. As many other posters said, we all have issues with our hardware from time to time, but in the end it's worth it! As far as the vapers tongue....get stubborn and tough it out. Like any of us will tell you....this can be done.

I feel ya, Jesse. Not only am I dealing with quitting smoking but I've dealt with depression and weight issues too. You don't get your life back together in a day, but celebrate every victory. Also good to have support, I'm doing a lot better since joining ECF, it's not a perfect social outlet, but it's something, and there's plenty of support for quitting smoking here, so you get that aspect.

Had the same problem with my nautilus mini spraying my tongue with liquid followed soon by a total loss of taste. Apparently it can take a little while to get the coils to break in. I noticed that it did it more with some thinner liquids. Still using the same coil and it seems fine now. Theres been a few people complaining about that same thing on aspire's site and they just say to open it up to the biggest airhole to fix it but who knows really the coils can be hit or miss. Good luck though!

It's gonna get better buddy. My bet on what's happening and what I think is partly responsible for vape tongue is chemical withdrawal. You're still getting the nicotine your body is used to, but the delivery method has changed and it takes the body awhile to get used to that and also start cleaning itself out of all the junk that's in your mouth, throat and lungs which takes time. I've been through withdrawal a few times myself (I was on prescription opiates for a couple years) and for a week or so everything tasted like ashes. And when I started vaping I had numb tongue and couldn't taste much of anything and was gagging on the vapor and just really getting frustrated and tempted to have a cigarette. This stuff is going to go away. But like i tell everyone, if you have a symptom that lasts for more than a week, get it checked out by a doctor to be on the safe side.
Oh and my nautilus does that too. And the airholes are constantly leaking. I've had no luck with aspire products honestly. And that system is a little complicated for beginners who don't want any fuss and just want to be hassle free while they deal with trying not to smoke. Even when i get it working okay i never get through a full tank in a day and when i set it down on the dresser when i go to bed, by morning its flooded and not working.
Honestly the kanger evod was my starting system. And I still use that on a daily basis. I just picked up an EMOW Mega. And it's deadly man. Great vapor. And so far none of the problems I've had with the nautilus, which honestly is going in the garbage.
Oh and I've been vaping since June. And i still have an emergency pack of cigarettes around here somewhere. Just in case. And i still slip up and have the occasional smoke. But at this point they just make me gag and taste really bad and make me want my vaporizer lol.
