ok, lessons learned. don't set up wick until you know the freakin thing is firing! so, it fires on a tube mod, not on the sumpin. another atty will fire on the sumpin, so it's not the battery. I've tried making the pin longer....I just turn it with a screw driver, right?

never mind again. yes. now it's firing, but I just broke my coil trying to get it into shape again. now I have to wrap a coil. not now. I'm too aggravated. later.

Actually taking a lunch break today and saw this so I thought I would drop it here.

I recall watching a build video on that Noname when it came out. Looked like a pia to build, so I didn't give it much more thought.

However, your 510 is different from the rest. As I recall, tho, it's mostly the drip well that's deeper. The 510 itself IIRC is only 0.5mm deeper than on my standard top caps. That translates to a little more than one full turn of the screw. In your case, I gave the screw an extra 1/2 turn (you were extended to about 4.55mm). So that leaves you giving the screw maybe another 1/2 turn (180°) to get to contact. It may require a half turn beyond that, but I hope not. Keep an eye on the juice feed holes in the topside. As long as they're still half exposed, you should be fine.

tail options:

cut it shorter

don't.
Actually, there's another option: Taper-cut the tails. This is popular among those using rayon as wick material. In an atty like the nuppin, it gives you a lot of wick surface to pick juice off the deck, but without an too much wick retaining an excessive amount juice in your warm atty. Taper-cutting is best done before wetting the wick.

so what happened to the tails? did you keep them?

T

I kept them long, but I think I might shorten them a little next time because I can taste wick.

So, all set up

photo(3).jpg

so, I wrapped my first coil ever cause the one I broke was the last one Sedge made for me. I wanted, or so I thought, 0.8 volts. I used 28g kanthal on a 1/16th drill bit. did 6 wraps. checked it on the provari cause I don't have a meter and it came out to 0.8 v exactly. so that was exciting.

it's a little too hot to get take in a good deep hit though. next time I'll do 7=8 wraps. The air hole is almost closed too. I also need to get some tools, like a magnifying lamp, because I am now blind. and that tool set that Peter put up on his spec thread....

but there you go. I'm the litmus test, cause if I can do it, anyone can!

My first 10 coils achieved Mach 0.7 as i tossed them across the room!

I use a magnifying headset when i build mine, because it leaves my hands free, and a weedburner LED table lamp.

If you open up the airflow, you may find (oddly enough) that it cools the vape down a bit, and that is the basis for people using really low resistance coils with huge airflow.

Open the air hole a bit will help cool it down. I think you mean .8 ohms not .8 volts

oh, ok, I'll try it again. it seemed harsher with the air holes open. didn't know the provari measures ohms. but your right. measuring resistance, not volts

at a certain point, with air holes "too open", you can't do mouth draws "hard" enough to draw sufficient air through. It's kind of a sticking point between mouth and lung draw.

ValHeli and I found a very satisfying single coil vape using the dual air configuration. Both holes are utilized but one is hovering over the coil-less opposite side.

Also, pull the top cap up just a bit (1mm-ish).

And, the closer your coil is to the air hole, the more effective cooling you get from the airstream.

loaded it up . . . . felt like loading a dual barrel shotgun putting the batteries in.

which . .. .then you put it in your mouth, right?

anyway, I glowed the coils to chase out the shorts . .. . . looking good . .. :?:

melted the Nichrome.

Anyway, I've got some 24 Kanthal. I'll go build a couple coils with that and try again.

OH! I guess it fired, now didn't it. :D
