There is no fuse. There is no collapsing spring. It's just like most other mech mods: you, your wits, and a pretty damn nice track record for the reputable IMR and Hybrid batteries we've all been using for the past few years. Still, if a person feels they need "protection", this would not be the mod for such person.

You are not giving up your #99 for one of the newer mods, unless you choose to . . . . I'm still going to base distribution on "the list", tho . . . seems fair . . . . so, you do have a choice to make.

I don't care about a fuse, I just thought all springs were fuses. The dibi is the first mod I've ever had that even had a fuse, so it's not important. I've wondered how collapsing springs could be fuses anyway (since the spring in my overheated mod is still just fine thankfully).

I'm sorry Peter, I'm confused by the choice part. We can opt for the newer model, but the older model is already made, so what do we get to choose? Are you saying that the already made older models in group 9 can be converted to the newer model if we choose that?

yeah, maybe i've been a bit confusing . . .

there is no "beta testing" list to sign up for. i am choosing some experienced modders (some of whom have a turn due anyway) to get a mod from the first batch (like 2-3 people). I'm confident the design works; but they have good ideas, and may see some longer-term issues and make suggestions. There's a short list of people who signed on for "the new mod"; back when I first started musing on what the next mod would be. Then there's people coming up on the list, who's turn it is to have a mod made anyway.

I had felt that I should get this prototype published before the people in run#9 commit by buying and receiving delivery of the mod I'm making for them right now. It's unlikely, that someone would have chosen a custom mod, and then not still want it; but I wanted to avoid a situation where I'm selling you something (me knowing full well that there's now a new option) and leaving you wishing you'd known about "the new thing". So, that leaves us with, if you like the new design so much better than the old, you can still not accept delivery on the mod I'm making right now, and opt to be on the first-run list for the new mod. This harkens back to the policy I initially set up: wherein the buyer has opportunity to approve their finished mod before purchasing, and can choose a different material and be in the following run. (this was from back when I thought I'd be making more mods on spec)

So, short→ you can buy your mod as intended, or you can pass on it, and opt for the new design. AND, there was no list you could've signed on to, except one (kin'a silly one) months ago (. .. one that I really don't see the validity of . . . but whatever, I guess I gave it some validity at the time . . . . DOH:facepalm:).

What nobody here has mentioned is that, for those who would like a mod with an active locking mechanism for the fire switch, this new one seems to be purpose built for that. A small piece of wood shaped to slide onto the top of the mod, with a piece somewhat like a divider sliding into the gap. This would make a 100% foolproof "switch lock", for those who have the fear of sitting on it and making it fire inadvertently.

or just a scrap of paper. or anything. The way the switch plate rises off the deck , it's like a little wedge place that'll grab a thin slip of anything and hold it between the contacts. (not that that's fancy . . . .). Also, one can loosen the atty a hair, turn the contact away from it's location, and snug the atty. Also, one can just remove and pocket the bottom 1/2 of the contact mechanism. It's one of those super simple mechanisms that will allow for multiple personalized user solutions, for those who feel they even need it.

These aren't "vape it every 2 minutes and stuff it back in your pocket solutions". These are throw it in a purse or bag for a few hours solutions. As for pocket . . . c'mon. (I should'a made a vid of me trying to get it to pocket fire)

can I order up some materials here? am I gonna be making a few of these newer version mods?

(rhetorical)

EDIT: done.
Well when #3 comes up for me put me down for one. And might as well put me in the back of the list for number 4(gotta get a Dublin in there somewhere).

I am confused by the different names. Are these the names given to each one when there is a change implemented? So mine is an "Oliver". When was it made, and what is different about it compared to others?

I, too, am confused by the different names, as well .. . . too. Not to worry tho, you'll know it when you see it. :D

Well I certainly like the suggested name - it has its own theme song :)

Not to mention, it looks like you could send a telegaph message with it. And who doesn't love to say, " I'd tap Dat!"?

"Hope this works!"
