yes, indeedy it is . . . . and that was exactly the type of reaction I was trying to counterbalance: to pre-load the shot in the musket of reason and sanity, if you will. To grain-of-salt down the po'k belly of practical-minded-thinking before the rats of unbridled desire started up a' gnawin' at it. To provide at least some thin prophylactic shield of common sense to guard against the raging, yowling, heartrending passionate desire, nay the foolish love of the maple-done-spalted . .. . .. if ya' catch my drift.

My brain stopped at the word musket and then started heading towards "I need to clean mine. And probably make up some rounds. Do I have enough black powder?"

Curiosity got the better of me and I really want to know why you thought today would be THE day when you could get us all to see reason in the face of the Spalted Maple? Just by virtue of using the word prophylactic almost worked but fell just short.
