And if there is one with a fire button like the old one then @pdib what number am I on in the waiting list? ;-)

Hi Rob! Nope, you wanna suck steam, you gotta tap my funny dingle (I kid). (I'll have pics of completed switches, somewhat refined, some with little hats on, in a few days here.) You are #215 on the list. So, a few batches away . . . maybe, IDK, 3 months?

Hehehe sweet! And please save me some of that WHITE Wood from the previous picture! It is just damn awesome! And OK I will live with the funny fire button! ;-) Look forward to seeing them with hats on! ;-)

It seems my mission for today is to disappoint you no end, my dear Robfisher.

That wood (stabilized oregon maple burl from burlsource.us) was a custom purchase by the mod-papa. It's unusual in it's whiteness, and came from a batch many moons ago (batch at burlsource, that is). We could look for similar in a stabilized Box Elder, or other Maple Burls, tho.

OK I have 3 months or so to nail a piece... will keep an eye on Mikes stock! What is the optimum size for a Dibi? (or minimum size piece)

for the Li'l Pinch, minimum size for a block is: 1 1/16 x 1 13/16 x 4"

(the 1 13/16" width can be a little under; but it's gotta be greater than 1 3/4")

(the 4" length is ballparky. It's got to be greater than 3 3/4" fo' sho')

I was adding a note in your info, Rob, regarding this light maple fetish of yours; and I saw I had "Seward Park Maple Burl" as a previous note. The SPMap isn't white . . . . but I could pee on it a little and maybe it'll bleach out in the hot S.A. sun, no? :|

Yip I just did a search and saw a Dibi made from that and yes that has MASSIVE potential! ;-)

I assume it's this?

That's Oregon maple, not Seward Park.
Try this link for all the various maple ones that have been made:

I have missed this thread for sometime because the noise to picture ratio is so high and a mate pointed me to this Pdib (yes I still call them Pdib's).

And all I can say is WOW so beautiful and love the fact that the internals have been redesigned and the base is now solid! But I haven't seen a finished mod other than the ones a few thousand pages back with the funny fire button. Is there a new fire button for the redesigned PDIB's other than the one that hits so hard and looks funny?

And if there is one with a fire button like the old one then @pdib what number am I on in the waiting list? ;-)
I'm with you Rob. I love the white woods - my first Dibi was copper and cream. So beautiful.

Ok, so here's what the button switches will look like on this first batch. Well, they won't look like this in that they won't be this Rosewood Burl. Also, too, tho, this one has some quirks that won't be SOP. I did mine first, as the guinea pig button. I established some good techniques and discovered a handful of hoopdies. Took me all day, but I think, not only did I get 'er done; but I'm pretty sure I've ironed out all the kinks for the rest of them. Speaking of kinks, this one has a little lump in the "flat" part running along the cap. That was a snootcher-method for shortening it's footprint and getting on with the rest of the steps. The other switches should not be kinky. Also, I didn't finish my button properly. Again, won't be the case with yer-allses.

Given that this took me all day, I'm only getting to the other 9 switches tomorrow, and those will likely take more than a full day . .. .

IS THAT ENOUGH PICS?

i'm concerned that that wasn't enough pics of the exact same thing over and over and over and over. . . . .

Gotham really is too dark a town for a beam of sunshine such as yourself. You should come further south to see that a lollipop from a pajama pant wearing unicorn could appeal to a particular twist of the mind.
Then again Gotham needs your touch of color and there just aren't enough unicorn lovers in the world anymore:cry:

Oh? Where would this mysterious unicorn refuge be found?
