Peter said for transport, give the atty a couple of turns which will free up the button contact. Turn the button contact slightly to the side to prevent firing.
did I say that? I mean, yeah, I totally thought that while I was designing; but I didn't realize I'd posted it. Probably a bit more hassle than the alternatives. (but doable nonetheless)
This mod would be just as difficult to autofire as any other unlocked mod: be it a sumpin' or any of the other popular BF mechs. I would not advise pocket or purse carry if jangling around with keys or coins. If a small piece of metal gets under the button and bridges the gap between the contacts .. . . then, THEN you got some autofiring. However, the button doesn't press by itself any more than on any other such mod. It's footprint is the same, and it requires roughly the same amount of pressure as we're accustomed to. As I've said before, the complex, convoluted motions required for snagging are almost inconcievable (not to say that nobody will ever hoople it; but not in everyday use).
There are a dozen simple ways to disable it tho, for more-than-casual carry. Say, I was going to throw it in my purse, with my keys and miniature button-pushing gopher, and I wasn't going to use it for a few hours . . . just snatch the silver contact pin out of the mod. Depending on how you choose to set it up, you can just let it drop right out into your hand with the battery pulled aside for a moment, or you can set it up so it doesn't come out unless you pull it out with purpose.
The only way we're going to be able to stop speculating on things that I, personally, have had no problems with tho, is to get some of them out there, into different peoples hands, and see what they say. And, yeah, it is a little bit different . . . . . which is cool.
(things can't get better if they can't get a little different)
