First off, I know you have all read this post 12304593 times before and given the same reply 12304593 times before, but I'm gonna to justify why you should do it again for me.. I'm using a crappy cell phone and can't get the search function to work and can't easily activate threads.. I figure I'll keep refreshing until I see a reply :p

I've never used an e-cig, and I had never heard of them until a couple months ago when a cart selling them popped up in a mall in new hampshire.

I got curious, and now I'm thinking of trying it out... I've got some questions... Is it REALLY like smoking a cigarette? I smoke a pack a day, and I don't wanna spend the money on one of these things if it isn't what it's made out to be...

Is it really less costly than cigarettes? What is the equivilant amount of e-cig cartriges to a pack of cig's? I need an explanation of the cartriges and how long they last in comparison to a pack of butts, and how often these atomizer thingys die out... the charging is simple enough I guess, but I would like to know how long the charge pack I would carry around would last too....

Yeah, please help me decide whether to get into these or not.

It's hard to answer all of your questions because there are so many different models that the answers vary for each one.

However as for whether or not they work and feel like smoking the answer is a simple yes.
I myself smoked anywhere from 1.5 - 3 packs a day for 20 years and I gave up real cigs within the first 3 days of using one of these.

It can definitely save you money but the amount will depend on how many different types you decide to try and the price you pay for cigs now.

Best suggestion is to get a chance to get on a computer and spend a bit of time on this forum because there is a whole lot of info here that will help you make an informed decision on your first device.

I would post some links here to other threads giving you more info but you stated it is difficult to load other pages. If you do get the chance to get online by way of a pc and check in here I'm sure many will be glad to post links to helpful posts.

Cell phone??? Get yer but to the computer OR maybe
15 dollars and some change MadVapes LLC

So, you can try it first with little investment to see if it is indeed for you. I highly recommend getting some juice too though

Cost less then cigarettes YES for me it does by A LOT!
There is a really good review on those disposables and how they last awhile too. BTW there was only 8 left (single pack) of those Mad Vapes Disposable 510's

I smoked a pack a day too. Smoke free since day one on my e-cig / personal vaporizer pv.
I mass bought unflavored DIY juice and LorAnn's flavorings and it saves me tons!

My first pv was from cignot the original joye510. I would have probably started with the disposables had I known about them. They do not have a manual switch that I do really prefer on my pvs.

I am new to this all too. Two weeks smoke free. These are my opinions and time/research will yield a wiser ivestment of your money (usually)

It depends on how involved you get with e-cigs. It can turn into a hobby for some people. There are different flavors to try and all sorts of high end devices, like the Chuck or the Xhaler. It also depends on how long it takes to find your nicotine level. If you have to buy a lot of different flavors and nicotine levels, it can be a bit expensive at first. There are also cartomizer models vs. refillable 3 piece models. Bottles of liquid are cheaper than pre-filled cartomizers, but some like the convenience of the pre-filleds.

A 30ml/12mg $18 bottle of liquid lasts me about a month, but I only smoked 1/2 pack a day. My husband uses about the same amount and smoked 1 1/2 packs a day, but he vapes a lot less frequently than I do and uses 36mg nicotine liquid.

Once you get settled in, however, it should be less than you spend on tobacco cigarettes.

Thanks for the speedy reply.

I pay about 7$ per day on a pack of cig's or about 52$ a week for a carton.

Does that sound like e-cigarette stuff is less costly or more costly than that?

Definitely. I spent $7 per pack (2 packs a day so $14/day) here also. After making the initial investment for a kit I now spend about $1.50 a day tops for my habit. That will vary depending on what you start with and whether or not you refill.

I just figured my costs:
2 starter kits, 1 PCC kit, 2 PCCs, 14 attys, 2 USB car adapters, 5 USB passthroughs, 474ml of liquid (not including the free liquid from Nhaler and DIYflavorshack)

Spent $710.86, which equals $5.78 per day since we (the costs include my husband's supplies) started vaping. But we ordered a lot of liquids that we have barely touched yet and some we don't plan on using. From now on, it's just maintenence and liquids - I've settled on flavors. So I figure about $30-$40 a month vs $240 per month when we were smoking.

Spent way more on this when I first started out than I would have on cigarettes (called analogs around here). On the defensive, I haven't spent anything for about three months, and because I bought so much starting out, I won't have to buy more hardware until I work through about 25 attys (these have the potential to last me for years).
Is it exactly like smoking? No. But darn close and so darn close, I haven't had an analog for 8+ months.
Get yourself a good disposable. If you have to wait for it to arrive----read. There is so much good information on this forum. When you get that disposable, it will give you an idea if you're going to like it. If you like it even a little, go for a good model and you'll love it.

Thanks for all the speedy replies everyone. I'm on my computer now so I've been able to read around a bit more. I'm interested in finding a type of e-cig that is flavored like a tobacco cigarette, is relatively inexpensive, and uses this 'juice' stuff over prefilled cartriges... Those sound like they cost more over bottles, I guess?

Also, is there a guide to abbreviations used on this forum? :p So far I've figured out that atty = atomizer and analog = cigarette. However there seems to be a huge amount of e-cig lingo that I need to learn.

Maybe someone should type up a guide for new users to commonly used terms?

Any reccomendations on what type of stuff I should be getting would be a great help. As I said, a tobacco cigarette flavored thing... The types of parts I need to get extra of and all... Yeah, help!!! :p

I did some math and I spend roughly 20-50 cents a day with my e cig, as opposed to 3.50 a day. I use a joye 510 (35 bucks at cignot.com), I drip on the atty (manual batteries) 2-3 drops is about a cigarettes worth to me. I smoked about 15-20 analogs a day for about 11 years, and have completely quit for about a month now...actually a month as of today. Anyway GL and Welcome!!!

Bought a Joye 510 from Healthcabin.net. Received it on Wednesday 1:00 p.m., and the unit had paid for itself at about 7:00 p.m. last night. That doesn't figure in the cost of juice (probably used about $3 worth so far, and a lot of that was experimentation) or the cost of shipping, which is huge if you buy from a China supplier, but the products themselves are less costly. Madvapes seems to be the cheapest U.S. kit supplier, and phenomenal customer service. Like those guys should get a reward, seriously.
All in all, you can start up with a 510 kit and juice for fifty bucks or less. Cool factor on these things alone is worth the fifty bucks.

Taste is really very subjective and many people have a different idea of the best "tobacco" flavor out there.

Here are some recommendations though to get you started(quoting myself from another thread because I'm lazy):

Ok so since you did state that you think you'll prefer a 2 piece model:

yes V4L is good as others have mentioned

but to give you some other options for the KR808D-1

LitecigUSA - great vendor, good prices, also carries numerous other models including the 40x mentioned below and the 501

Good Prophets - great vendor, good prices and also carries other models

PureSmoker.com - Home of the USA Built PV !!! I've never dealt with them but they have a good rep from what I've seen on the forums and do carry the KR808D-1 at a good price

another 2 piece option which is similar to the KR808D-1 but has different threading and therefore is harder to find other vendors who supply replacement cartomizers

Electronic Cigarettes By Bloog Bit more expensive than the KR808D-1 but a good product and a 30 day return policy if you don't like it along with a 3 month warranty. Good customer service. This was the first e-cig I tried and have yet to have a problem with mine that I've had for 6 weeks now.

also as a 3 piece option as ethirty stated the 40x is a good choice as it is comparable in size to a real cig and has great performance and flavor

some vendor options for the 40x series

Intellicig Great product and customer service and you can also find alternate vendors here in the states who are resellers of their products. Just recently obtained a set and they have now replaced my Bloog as my primary device

TrueSmoker: M401 Dragon Haven't purchased from him yet but his Dragon and Phoenix are really great if you're looking for something stylish. He has a good price for what he carries and is a good guy to deal with.

There are way to many styles and vendors out there for anyone to state what is going to be best for anyone other than themselves. Even more than I mentioned here so be sure to shop around. Hope this helps.

Also if you'd like to try a 510 which is a 3 piece style that is pretty popular. Madvapes.com has disposable kits for $9.99 that could be a good way to try out that style.

Litecigusa, Goodprophets, Madvapes, and Cigeasy also all have good prices on 10ml bottles of liquid to give different flavors a try until you find some you want to stick with.

Nevermind. Found a guide to abbreviations in the stickies.

Sorry for double post

Actually if you mouse over any of the following .... TH , PV , atty , and others, when you see them in a post, it should pop up a tooltip that tells you what they stand for.

Joye 510 Vaporizer <<<from litecigusa.net

Is this what I should get to be starting off? does it come with all the stuff I would need for a while? Can I refill the cartriges or if I get that do I have to stick to getting cartriges?

USA Mix E Liquid <<<from litecigusa.net

Would this be similar to a marlboro red? Has anyone tried it and could tell me?

Apparently I'm not allowed to post links yet :p

Are there any spare parts I should buy right off the bat for a while? I figure I'll end up getting a car adaptor and one of the PCC charging case (since it doesn't look like the kit comes with one).
