There is a coil that fairs well to last long. thou not many fans of this style coil. That would be Kangertech's Juppi.... This coil ( and its wicking ways ) has been one of my many favorites.
With a light torching, and new band of top shelf cotton, this is, IMO, a taste & cloud pleaser...

One big concept I like about this coil is: The cotton is wrapped around the coil, and not directly in the path of intake,,..
This tank has never given a dry hit. And the juice flavor gets a high score.
A big plus for DIY Juicers, ( You can easily add a drop of flavoring to the tank when looking for a key flavor. ) I've used RDA's to try new juice flavors, but it never worked as well as the Juppi.
That's the way all of the bottom vertical coils I own are built, and I agree that this design extends the amount of liquid the unit can vaporize during its useful life.

Again, coil life is not measured by any unit of time. It's measured by how much liquid it can do.

I have a three year old Smok Aro coil. It's still alive because it has vaped about 5ml of juice since I bought it.

I've vaped since Jan. 2014 using the following factory coils in a variety of clearomizers and tanks. All have been with 60/40 eliquids with 12-26% flavoring in them:

Innokin 16D - 8-9 days, 7-8mL/day through them (cost me avg. of $1.10/coil)

Kanger Single Coil for reg. Evods, PT & PT2 & Minis - 7-8 days, 7-8mL/day through them (cost me avg. of $.77/coil)

Kanger Dual Coils for PT3 & Mini, Aerotank & Mini, Evod Mega - 7-8 days, 8-10mL/day through them (cost me avg. of $.92/coil)

Aspire BVC Coils for Aspire ET-S, Aspire K1 tanks - 7-8 days, with 8-10mL/day (cost avg. $1.44/coil)

Ego One CL - 9 days, with 10-12mL/day (cost avg. $1.56/coil)

Kanger OCC and SSOCC - 6-7 days, with 8-10mL/day (cost avg. $1.80/coil)

So in the long run, for me...the factory coils are still plenty cheap! Yes, it's much cheaper for me to make my own coils and wick them, or buy the pre-wound ones from FT and wick them...for the RBAs I use. But, sometimes the advantages of factory coils being easier & quicker to swap out, easier to pack and take on trips, etc. makes them a better option for me.

I keep tanks with stock coils simply because I hate to wick any rta. I have 3 rtas going right now and love the vape I'm getting. That being said, I'm ready to take one out and replace with at least one stock dependant tank. I love sweet citrus vapes. Wicking and dry burning coils at least twice a week is a fact of vape life.

Soooo many factors to consider. Oddly, Nautilus coils run for longer in my Kabuki than they do in my Nautilus 2, maybe it's airflow issues. Depending on juice and coils they last anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks... I have to use max VG and also I am not yet great a building coils, so the convenience is good for me. I order my coils cheaply and I rinse and reuse them once, and I think that's decent coil life. Coils have not been my biggest expense. I think MTL coils are harder to maintain, as many drop-in sub0hm coils seem to have been designed for viscus liquid and high volumes of juice that run through them, but they are in fact designed to do that and more expensive than many coils. Also, materials used in the coil itself can extend life, so it's really hard to generalize.

Anna
Couple years back when I ordered a Nautilus, ( From China, ) they gave me a bag of 5 coils, FREE. Thought it was very nice of them. Turns out the coils were not only duds,,,, but had stripped threads, which messed up the tank base. This was not from Fasttech, but some other free shipping Chinese site.(eCigarette.com)
Ten percent of all items purchased from them was garbage,,, But shipped FREE.. LOL.
Everyone loves free shipping with no minimum purchase price.

Nope...retired teacher. Reasons I know that stuff about coils I've used or still use is 1) I was interested in seeing how long different ones lasted and what each one cost me; 2) When the people I've helped (and am still helping) to switch to vaping ask me about the longevity, cost, etc. of different coils...before they decide on a clearomizer or tank to start with or change to, I can tell them what I've found out based on my own personal experience with them.

It really didn't take much effort either:

Write the cost of the box of coils on the box.
Write down the dates I installed one & changed it out.
Make a mark when I refilled the clearo or tank it was in.

Only did it for a month for each type of coil, as I got different clearos or tanks that took them. The only exception is the Ego ONE CL coils that I just started using about 3 weeks ago.

I just posted this in another thread but it bears repeating here. Vaporesso ceramic coils will outlast anything. There newer euc style coils are also cheaper than just about anything out there. They are self cleaning ( within reason). I have used the same coils daily for months. They also have a remarkably clean taste. I own many rta's but always keep the Vaporesso in rotation. I use it with my sweetest juices and they just last forever.

I hope your friends appreciate your help JCin. You gave them all many specs on vaping which could/should be helpful to them....

I am beginning to agree--but I've only had my Vaporesso Estoc for about a week. I've been through about six tankfuls (~2mls each fillup) and it tastes like I just primed it. This is with a DIY Reese's knockoff with 1% sweetener on top of 15% flavoring. I made the liquid--just for this tank--the day I placed the order.

Which model do you suggest, the NRG mini,,, NRG 5ml,,, or the Veco. Looks like an interesting tank. And I like the Veco with top air flow, and the cheaper coils.
But what is the sleeve for on the EUC coils? I see a 10 pack/ with sleeve for $10.00 at Fastech.

Sounds like a nice sweet juice Reese's. I posted the MFPB clone by Vapergate. Very simple juice to make, and my son and I believe it to be spot on. BUT to much Peanut Butter and need to switch it up every other day. So I go 50% my MFPB, and 50% of my newest creation I call Coconut Pie... Another easy juice to make.

The sleeve is the part of the tank that the coil drops into. You literally drop the coil in, reassemble and go.

Edit: I have the Estoc. It's not Vaporesso's latest and greatest, ergo I got it on the cheap. ;)

The sleeve will allow you to use it in other non-Vaperesso tanks. I am using the sleeve with the EUC coils in my Eleaf Melo 3 tank which came with my Eleaf Pico! I agree that the EUC coils are great coils and last forever.

I own the Gemini. I've had it for more than six months. They make many models that work with their EUC ceramic coils. The coil just drops into the sleeve. You just have to be sure to order the sleeve that fits your model. As someone posted their coils do fit nicely into some other manufacturers models although I would not attempt to list those that do. You can google it and come up with tons of info. The sleeve lasts forever and the drop in ceramic coils last months. Very easy and cheap to use these. Cleanest taste you will find in a premade coil. Also note it is very thick rich vapor produced from these coils.

I got started with rebuildable atomizers after becoming disgusted with the one day life of Protank coils. The coil legs were resistance wire soldered to non-resistance wire to prevent the rubber grommet from burning. The solder melted and they went open in a day or less. I started keeping the shells, winding coils to go into them, and using cotton ball wicks. That was a little tedious in the small space but yielded great results. Nautilus was next, but those seemed a little too tedious to rebuild.

I learned about the Kayfun and ordered a 3.1 several years ago. Once I figured out the best method to get flavor with the right coil size, wick bulk, and height above the air hole I stopped buying Protank coils.

I get a couple of years or more out of a 100' roll of wire and at least a year out of a bag of Kho Gen Do cotton sheets. I change coils when they lose their shiny appearance and smooth feel after washing and dry burning. Wicks last me a few days to a week. I change when the flavor begins to drop off.
