I would expect to see a 45A 18650 pretty soon from another no-name new seller. It is a trend from Chinese sellers claiming inflated spec. as a marketing ploy to lure not so knowledgeable customers (30A - 35A - 40A - ??A).
I must be a not so knowledgeable customer. Before purchasing a battery a read the mfrs specs. How does a knowledgeable customer purchase a battery?

Would need to see the manufacturer spec sheet, but only 1600mah I'll probably stick to VTC5's. I never go over about 20A, so I couldn't imagine close to 40A. I'm sure someone will buy them and someone else will likely also cause them to vent by pushing the limits.

Judging by the picture on PBusardo's latest video I think some clown may have just done so at VapeBlast 2014.
Unfortunate that the name of that con will now and forever be ironically linked to the incident.

First of all, you want to purchase only an IMR or IMR/hybrid battery, and not an ICR Li-ion battery.

Next, what will the application of the battery be for?

  • For a general purpose use (factory-built coils) with a regulated or mechanical mod, any 10 amp 18650 battery will suffice. Choose one with the higher mah rating (the higher the mah number, the longer it should last on a charge).

  • If using a mechanical mod and using sub-ohm coil builds, you want a 20 - 30 amp 18650 battery (continuous discharge rating), and again choose one with a higher mah rating.

  • If using a 30 - 50 amp high wattage mod (DNA), you want a high drain IMR with at least 12 amps continuous discharge rating.

I bought two of the Imren 18650 35 amp 2600 mah green ones yesterday.
It took almost 7 hours in my I-4 charging them alone in the same channel, bays 1 & 3, about 375 mah so the 2600 part seems about right.
My load for testing the voltage drop is .09Ω. In this test I am comparing these Imren's to 3 Sony VTC4's (a little used but good).
The batteries voltage drop pulsed 2 sec 3 times all came out about the same, 3.71 volts to 3.78 volts.
How these hold up over time I don't know, same with their discharge curve.
In previous tests on other Sony 30 amp batteries the voltage was the same.
Previous tests on Vamped 40 amp and Efest 3100 mah 20 amp batteries yielded around 3.30 volts to 3.37 volts
Could these be Sony VCT5's re-branded......I'm not going to say it.
Bottom line, they seem like good batteries but it's early yet.

I have been trying to figure the 35a 2600mah batts out myself. I did not buy any but I figured someone would have by now and tested them but I have not seen tons of info on them. I am about ready to dig into the flashlight forums.

Shame that batt info is so sketchy all the way around.

I have two of the yellow Imren IMR 18650 2000mAH 40A batteries. I believe these are 40A pulse discharge running at 20A continuous discharge. These were the first batts I bought from a B&M. I wish I had known more about batts before I bought these.

They are good for casual vaping but not for sub-ohming. I need to get some testing equipment to provide some specs, but I can say there is a noticeable drop in power after a few minutes of sub-ohming compared to my LG batts.
