I'm too scared to vape in class. I go to a university and it's been getting cold out latley so I've just been vaping in the restrooms during breaks. It's great that we can use them inside, I'm just afraid that vaping in certain places like classrooms might bring negative attention to it. Just because it's not smoke doesn't mean we can do it anywhere we please. Some people might take it the wrong way.

I haven't gone to a bar yet with it. I probably would do it there if I first asked the waitress or bartender. The only non-smoking places I vape in is at the mall (since they sell and demonstrate them there) and at work in the break room, because everyone I work with knows what it is and is cool with it.

Yeah... sure, vaping isn't the same as smoking and shouldn't be treated as such... but still, vaping anywhere you damn well please carries with it an air of arrogance and obnoxiousness. Lots of people don't know what vaping is just yet (and even if they did, it may not matter), and to use an e-cig in iffy places will only invite hostility and disgust. Kinda like walking around drinking cider out of a 40oz bottle... there are far more subtle ways to enjoy vaping, and/or get the word out.

So tell me since it's not illegal, it's not smoking, and it's harmless, why would I not be able to do it whenever or wherever I please? I pray for the day some misguided dope decides to confront me on vaping in public, I am not a sheep and refuse to act like one. There is no reason to hide these or the fact that you use one. WTF people, choose to be cowed by others opinion if you must, I never have and never will.

I vape in class all the time and I don't have to hide it. My professors all think that it is great. They are just glad that I no longer have the urge to smoke analogs any more. By vaping in class, I have already got two other students to convert to vaping and both have successfully ditched analogs all together. I'd say that was a win-win situation. :D

Yep, I have converted a few people that have asked me about it, or at least got them thinking about it. I said it in a different post but I could easily sell a couple of kits every time I left the house if I had them on me, that's no exaggeration either. Like I said I refuse to hide or bow before pressure with something that is not illegal or harmful to others, maybe that has helped with the people asking about it, I don't know I just know I won't hide and it hasn't been an issue anywhere. In fact I have straightened a few people out who like most people who have heard of them only heard the words "industrial coolant" which is typical of most people, they hear only the misinformation from the story, not the truth so it's helped inform people that they have been misinformed.

I suppose, but in a classroom situation, I don't vape (visibly) out of respect. I mean, fog machines are legal/harmless/etc, but i'd never play with one during class.

well, my class is three hours long two days a week, and it covers information that i've already learned and know a great deal about. very boring class, my teacher gets confused by his own words constantly, and the whole situation stresses me out. but like some others have said, PV in the sleeve, and i just hold my breathe for like 3 seconds and there is nothing to exhale, that's more of what i meant, no one noticed because there was nothing for them to notice, i keep my stress at a minimum level and no one gets hurt = win/win :):):)

I've been tempted to ask my teachers if I could vape in class, but I think I'd just keep being sent higher up in the chain or something.

They don't mind me vaping anywhere in the school grounds, though. I don't have to go to the designated smoking area or anything, and I'm allowed to vape in the lounge and in the gathering areas. I can't stand in a hall and vape, but walking through and taking a few hits before walking into class isn't looked down on. I think they also like that I'm using a blue tip so that it's obvious that it's not an analog. I've had school mates ask me about it, too, and especially since the flavored cigarette ban.

My only problem with doing it in class is it being a disruption to other students. If you could be discreet about it, I might be okay with it. However, even though I am all for e-cigs, I would not allow someone to vape during a class when I was in charge of it (I take over about 15 university classes a semester to do seminars). This would just be because it would be a distraction which I find rude to the instructor and to other students.
