The purpose of this post is to find an individual that has researched as many different menthol juices currently on the market. I've read numerous posts from individuals that tried one or two different menthol products and concluded that A was better than B, but I'm looking for something more substantial.

Has anyone performed an extensive review of many menthol juices and made a determination on which is closest to analog menthol?

From my understanding, many menthol offerings are just mint variations. I'm not looking for that.

Thank you, in advance.

I had smoked menthol for 25 years and have tried about 15 different menthol version over the past 6 months... They are all way to minty for me and nothing has came close to menthol taste....

Then came Halo.... Try the NewPure, I love it! This is the closest to analog menthol yet... It has a very slight minty flavor but is pretty darn close to an analog menthol...

Halo has 3 different menthol versions and I have only tried the NewPure so I can't speak to the other 2 flavors but there is a nice review of all 3 menthol flavors here on the forum...

Try the Halo, I think you will be pleased.... Plus it's made in the USA with top notch ingredients...

Use the code ECF4Halo and get a discount.... That makes a 30ml bottle only $20 with free shipping and you get a free 10ml sample of another of the Halo juice line...

I like Halo Freedom and it has became my everyday vape... I hit the NewPure for the occasional menthol fix.....

Thx Raqball for the reply.

I was able to limit my search to "Halo" and found a review here for the 3 menthol versions they offer. I think it merits a looksie. I'll put in an order for Newpure in a week or two and give it a whirl.

Much thanks!

I would like to add that Halo menthols are amazing. I have run the gamut, and there is a certain crispness with airy vanilla taste to their menthols which are distinct.

Also, Halo menthols are the only PG liquids that have not given me stomach issues. I tried 3 different VG menthols and they all tasted like cough syrup.

Another major point is that Chinese made eliquid is notorious for being manufactured with Pesticide-Grade Nicotine, and industrial Propylene Glycol. These contaminated ingredients pose an increasing and unnecessary risk to e-cigarette users throughout the world.

Halo FTW.

Just curious if you have any evidence to support that statement.

No, I have no personal evidence. However, as a Chinese American, I stay far away from the neverending tainted products that come from China. If they can't keep drywall or baby forumla safe, I wouldn't have much confidence in their e-liquid.

Better safe than sorry.

Hey there Unperson,

Just dropped in to quickly scan over the newer threads etc. -- This last weekend didn't provide a whole lot of opportunity for me to engage in ECF stuff.

Anyway.... I see that you've recently ordered some juices and (presumably) are still awaiting their delivery. Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering which PV(s) you decided to go with?

I certainly can't claim to be much of an expert, but if you're interested in menthol.. I CAN recommend the option of DIY mixes using true menthol crystals.

I've investigated that route myself and find it to be the closest to "genuine menthol" as any of the several other pre-mixed juices I've tried. I wasn't previously a menthol anolog smoker per se... but rather someone who had no aversion to smoking whatever was either available or handy. As far as my interest in menthol flavors for vaping, I was just looking to gain wider exposure to different flavors & throat-hit characteristics etc. -- I still occassionally use a few drops of menthol-mix to spice up a small daily batch of juice for a change. :p

EDIT: For the record, I've found that tweaking-up a batch of menthol-mix with small amounts of vanilla, or RY-4, or DK-Tab, etc. -- can really add a terrific enhancement also.

If you haven't run across it yet, there's a very good thread on making up your own 'menthol drops' over on the DIY forum here:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/20590-menthol-drops-recipe-menthol-lovers.html

cheers,
fisch :D

p.s. I'm hoping I'll gain some time later tonight to properly respond to your pm. ;)

I think you'll find that a huge portion of the people on this forum use Chinese eliquids, so I'd stay away from making blatant generalizations that are unfounded and unnecessarily alarmist.

Not sure what your heritage has to do with the subject matter.

Just to get back on topic here:

For anyone else who's also interested in Menthol ...

Here's a bit of additional information from a thread elsewhere on that subject.

Actually TTRP ..I'm afraid that's not quite right. While it is true that the usual 'Mint' flavors are ordinarily NOT the same as the Menthol flavors... the confusion often arises because of the actual source of true menthol.

"...Menthol is an organic compound made synthetically or obtained from peppermint or other mint oils. ----....Mentha arvensis is the primary species of mint used to make natural menthol crystals and natural menthol flakes. This species is primarily is grown in the Uttar Pradesh region in India."
from Wikipedia

There are a number of threads on Menthol & recipes in the 'Tips-&-Tricks' section (in the DIY-eliquid subforum).

Here's the one I studied before buying my own menthol crystals and making my own menthol-drops.
Menthol Drops Recipe for Menthol Lovers

All I can add... is a strong echo of the advisory that with respect to menthol crystals... A little goes a long way!

I'm fully aware that many members here use Chinese eliquids which is why I offer my humble opinion and will continue to do so. No need to be melodramatic as I am not being alarmist. I'm just simply inferring that if Chinese manufacturers are incapable of doing quality assurance on something as precious as baby formula, then I can only imagine what their screening process is for eliquid.

I mention my heritage precisely for the reason that people do not make me out as being an alarmist reactionary that is "anti-chinese."

Feel free to provide documentation on the safety of Chinese eliquids though.

Nice post Unperson!
I never smoked menthol analogs before I quit. In fact, I hated them. But to my surprise, I am really liking menthol vapes. It adds a certain cooling analog sensation that I like. It would be an all day vape for me if I could find the right juice. So, I'm going to keep an eye on this thread.

Thanks for that link Fisch! I haven't done any DIY yet, but it is something I might be into in the future. Until then, I'm going to try adding crystals to some Virginia or TAB when I get some crystals in.

BTW, halo juice is new to me. Does anyone have a link for that:confused: Thanks!

Crashtest is right, nhaler does make some great juice. USA mint tobac is one of my all-time favs, but it is IMO definitely a mint tobacco. I've had their super menthol too. It is pretty good, but not quite what I'm hoping for in a menthol.
BTW, that halo juice sound good. And a decent price for USA made. Eliquidplanet is supposed to have a v. good line of USA juices and menthol, but the price is too high for me.

You're absolutely being alarmist and spreading rumors. You said Chinese liquid is "notorious", not inferring but stating.

matrixdutch and tmbrown327, please don't use this thread for a debate on '*.cn' vs the world. I've no issues with debates as they "can" be informative, but the issue you two are addressing isn't germane to the OT. Start a different thread to continue the convo if you like.

{back to the OT} :)

Heya FizzleFisch :D,

You brought up an interesting point; specifically, menthol crystals. I'm not afraid of going all 'mad scientist' with my ejuice use. In fact, one aspect that seems the most appealing about the whole pv scene is being able to produce a personal ejuice that caters exclusively to my tastes. I've already started looking into setting up a mini-mixing lab.

In my search for "all things PV," I've visited several sites that sell the menthol crystals. I haven't read too much up on them or how to use them (mortar & pestle?), but I was intrigued.

Definitely need more research...

Let's see...

..a few drops of menthol

..one or two regular tobacco

..smidgen of vanilla

..one or two of chocolate.. nah, maybe whiskey.. hmm..

{drifts away from the keyboard in deep thought}

Interesting find from:

Peppermint Essential Oil - Pure Undiluted! - 2 oz.

Prices works out to $5.99 for 60ml

Excerpt:

There are several species of the Mentha arvensis perennial herb that can grow to 1 meter in height, spreading due to their underground 'runners'. Peppermint has hairy leaves with serrated edges and purple spiked flowers. Peppermint Japanese is known for it's high menthol content. It is so high in fact, that menthol crystals sometimes form right on the leaves.

...

That site also has a lot of other pure extracts including clove, etc..

I'M RIGHT HERE
i have 300 ml of 36 mg "menthol" that i will never use. it is true, that every suppliers menthol seem to taste different. by far the best vendor menthol juice i ever vaped , i purchased from myfreedomsmokes.

these days i make my own. a perfect blend of unflavored nic juice, menthol crystals, and just the right amount of tobacco flavored juice.

i have been a vaper almost a year now, i see all these members who vape all kinds of flavors, i just dont get it. if i want watermelon flavor i dont vape it. i go buy a watermelon, if i crave cherry cheese-cake, i dont vape it . i go buy a cherry cheese-cake.
