Ummmm, where to start...
I guess last question first, 20 drops per ml is the rule of thumb, most recipes and mix calculators use that as a base number. Now the other question, why are you even considering 46.7mg/ml? That is something I do not feel comfortable giving values for. Sorry

vaping almost 50mg is not too wise i say.If you add 5ml of 100mg too 5ml of 36mg,you will get 10 ml at 68MG. Just add 36+100 and diivde by 2= 68.
Thats doubled up,so if you add 5ml of 36mg to 1ml of 100 mg you get 6ml at 49.6mg,a 1 to 5 ratio is 20% so just take 20% of 68mg=49.6mg....no?

Your math on the first part is right. 5 drops, even if they're big drops, probably won't be anywhere near a ml, though.
There are some very useful calculators available that takes the guess-work out of DIY mixing. Please be careful with your Nic and using a syringe is always preferable to drop counting...

eJuice Me Up - Best eJuice Calculator There ia a calculator down load on this sight. Takes any guess work out and math errors. You are vaping a pretty high nic content. You might do some research on recommended nic levels. Also what the effects of nic over dose is before you push the envelope.

In your example:
(5 ml x 36mg) + (1 ml x 100 mg)/ (5 ml + 1 ml)
180 + 100/6 = 46.666

I bought just a basic starter kit, it looks like a cig with the screw on cartomizer when I was in Florida. I hadn't planned on quitting reg cigs but it's been over 2 weeks for me now. I tried several strengths and I liked the highest one that they sell ( I think 36 mg). The problem is that first of all I live in Canada and can't get the nic here. Also, I find that even with the 36 mg, I still don 't get the same satisfaction as smoking. Plus the vapour is very variable. The battery seems to be weak because it's blinking all the time. I don't know if I'm doing it correctly? Anyway, I will be in FL Feb 4th and I ordered some e juice and nicotine to my place there. Thhe nicotine I wanted to add to the lower nic cartomizers that I have ( 18 mg)...cause with those I feel like I'm sucking air!!!!
Maybe, I just need a better device?

I started with 24 and am happily at 12 now I know what you mean at first is was just not quite there but I was able to quit smoking and the Im missing something feeling goes away. Cig alikes suck to be blunt! Its where most of us start but soon learn they are not it. Try you an ego and then if you feel like its going to stick move up to a battery mod.

OK, the first step is probably to get a device that puts out thick clouds of rich, creamy vapor. Once you have done that, many other problems just vanish. There are a thousand opinions on what equipment is best for that so I'll pass
Generally speaking you have to get a mid-size device (eGo etc) or an APV to be sure of getting good vapor. You can be lucky with a mini, there are some coming out now that actually work, but it's a bit hit or miss.
The reason you may want high nic in a mini otherwise you still get cravings is that they usually don't push out enough vapor - simple as that. Intellicig did some clinical trials on this and found that beginners with minis often don't get sufficient nic to make it work. As a result they introduced a 45mg strength to their Ecopure range. There is nothing wrong with using this at all if:
1. You still get cravings with your current set-up even with 36mg nic liquid; and:
2. You don't get any symptoms of nic OD like headaches or dizziness etc.
As they will get a full medical license for this liquid soon, it indicates that using it is safe for the purpose it is designed for (as above).
Using that liquid when you know how to inhale properly with an ecig, and with high-performance equipment, is another story. In that case you should probably be a little cautious at first.

Thats only if you use 100% nicotine,mixing and matching say 36mg nic is very safe.

Why are you buying juice from china,canada sells juice with nic all over the place,try adding some 0mg VG to you mix,you will get more vapour.
Go to the Canada forum here, they will sort you out. PM someone in there if you have trouble.
