I have some juice that is lower nicotine that I like. It is 12mg. I want to raise it to 16mg. I didn't do that well in math so apologies if this is a dumb question. I just want to double check so I don't make myself ill.

Say I have 10ml of the 12mg juice - being I want to increase by about 4mg with 100mg nicotine can I simply use an ejuice calculator and pretend I'm making a recipe for 10ml of 4mg nicotine and then add that amount the calculator gives me to the 10ml of store juice?

I don't know why this is screwing with my brain so much. When I'm figuring out recipes and all that regular DIY stuff the numbers make perfect sense to me.

Just thought I'd revisit this, and post a way to solve for the exact problem.

One of the simplest ways to calculate this stuff is to realize that milligrams per milliliter (mg/ml) shows the way. If you have 10ml of 12mg/ml liquid, then each 1ml has 12mg of nic in it, so 10ml has 120 mg of nic. 120mg / 10ml = 12mg/ml.

By doing the fairly simple math that I did in the previous post, where I calculate total mg of nic divided by total ml of liquid to figure out the resulting concentration of nic, you can just plug a few numbers in there to get close. It becomes very easy with use.

Another way to look at it is in the form of an algebraic equation. Using the above example, the following equation can be formed to solve the problem of how much (x) 100mg/ml liquid to add to the 10ml of 12mg/ml liquid to get 10ml plus how much (x) you end up adding, of 16mg/ml liquid:

10ml of 12mg/ml plus xml of 100mg/ml = (10ml plus xml) of 16mg/ml

which makes the equation:

10 * 12 + x * 100 = (10 + x) * 16

or, in a more algebraic form (using mg/ml * ml here):

12(10) + 100x = 16(10 + x)

There is a handy equation solver that will solve either of those forms, and give the result:

x = 0.4761904762

Anyway, I have no idea if any of the various e-juice calcs will do this type of problem, but I've seen this type of question pop up here several times. Hope this helps. :)

This came up on reddit yesterday and I worked it out. Be prepared for HS algebra word problem flashbacks.

Vd = ( Vo * ( Sf - So ) ) / ( Sd - Sf )

Vo = Volume Original (ml)
So = Strength Original (mg/ml)
Vd = Volume Delta (how much base you add) (ml)
Sd = Strength of Delta (how strong is the base you're adding) (mg/ml)
Sf = Strength Final (mg/ml)

Eg. Take 10ml of 12mg/ml up to 16mg/ml using 100mg/ml base.
Vo = 10ml
So = 12mg/ml
Sd = 100mg/ml
Sf = 16mg/ml

Vd = (10*(16-12))/(100-16)
Vd = (10*4)/84
Vd = 40/84 = 10/21 = 0.476190476190476

Eg. Take 10ml of 18mg/ml up to 24mg/ml using 60mg/ml base.
Vo = 10ml
So = 18mg/ml
Sd = 60mg/ml
Sf = 24mg/ml

Vd = (10*(24-18))/(60-24)
Vd = (10*6)/36
Vd = 60/36 = 10/6 = 1 4/6 = 1 2/3 = 1.66666666666667

WOW WISH I Knew this formula existed i wouldn't have wasted a whole night breaking it down from my ejuice calc. but i'm glad i did the mental workout took me a few hrs but got the same answers u did
