Charly1954,
Do you have that pick you posted of the vote? I can't find it. I'm not sure if it was the HB or SB. I'm curious who the opposition was, or will be in the house on the SB. It might be good to let people know to hold their reps accountable.

We don't know if the senate bill will even get to the committee in the house. There are some reps in the committee that are chomping at the bit to offer amendments.

It is likely that HB 1432 is it and they wait until SB 539 dies in committee and 1432 goes to conference committee to be married with the unaltered SB 539, then that report goes to the governor's desk.

So, 539 can die in committee, but still wind up on the Pence's desk?

If HB 1432 is amended or is enjoined with SB 539, doesn't it have to go back thru the Senate Loop again?

Yes, because 1432 was identical.

Right, calling a conference committee bypasses that since 539 made it through the senate and the identical 1432 made it through the house and the senate, it only has to be married with 539. There is a circular structure to the process here with many rules that can knock a bill out of the circle. Conference committee is actually fairly uncommon and most bills never go through one, it just goes through the senate loop again. There is too much force behind this one to do the loop. It's a testament to action by vapers that this isn't already law. We have estimated that the machinery behind this push cost someone around 5 mil. Unfortunately using law to secure market share is a common practice in the US anymore and voters aren't outraged by the notion...or even care for the most part. So these kinds of tactics are the typical instead of the rare.

HB 1432 was passed by the senate. SB 539 is still in committee in the house.

The list of house sponsors on HB 1432 should give a good idea if what we are facing. There are over 50 sponsors listed on HB 1432, but only a few senators on SB 539.

The Hoosier Vapers will be putting a call out, with talking points, for a letter writing campaign to Mike Pence fairly soon and I will repost it in this thread.

So only 15 voted against it, how many does that leave who voted for it, we're all screwed. I see Head was one of the 15. Head is our towns(logansport) legislator, maybe all the complaining helped.

Also I don't know where to look to find those 50 sponsors. I googled "house sponsors on HB 1432 " and found nothing.

Most readers probably don't know where to find them, we're not as knowledgelbe as you are in politics so can you post a link or post the list of 50 sponsors.

*** CALL TO ACTION ***

It’s time to start calling, emailing, and tweeting Gov. Pence. We are urging the Governor to VETO HB 1432. Please ask your friends, family, co-workers, and fellow vapers to call, email, and share this post.

PHONE: (317) 232-4567
EMAIL: Governor Pence: Ask Mike
FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/GovernorMikePence
TWITTER: @GovPenceIN

Talking Points: (Be Respectful and Polite)

1: HB 1432 puts nearly 200 small businesses and over 1,800 gainfully employed Hoosiers in jeopardy. The lack of product choices and the cost of compliance will force many small businesses to close their doors.

2: HB 1432 criminalizes home brewing of e-liquid, for personal use. Home brewing, or DIY, is currently allowed for beer, wine, dry tobacco, and other adult products.

3: HB 1432 will place unheard of and unlawful restrictions on out-of-state manufacturers. This bill tries to assert authority over an out-of-state manufacturer’s production process, facility design, security measures, and personnel. This is not done to any other industry and is clearly unconstitutional.

4: HB 1432 sets up a closed market that benefits large powerful companies at the expense of small businesses and hard working Hoosiers.

I'm tired of all of the banter. Zoidman is right. If half the time ranting on here was spent writing to legislators, we could beat this.
I suggest we post out letters here, or in a new specific thread. Moderators can decide. Kind of a put up or shut up thread. It would also help those that are leery of writing... Hoosier posted great points, but once you get started.... Hell hath no fury...
I'm in the middle of my letter to Gov Pence, and I must say that polite and respectful is a challenge considering his past performance...
