There is no doubt in my mind that state legislators vote on bills that they have not read, and do not understand. I also believe that should be grounds for removal.

I Don't Believe that is True.

But even if it is True for small fraction of Legislators, you are Absolutely Correct that this would be Grounds for Removal.

In 2015 there were 570 Senate bills, and 667 House bills introduced in Indiana alone. Granted, not all of those went to vote in the full House or Senate, but some of them were supposed to read them.

Hmmm? That's a Lot of Legislation.

I can see why some People tend to want Less Government than More Government.

Soon after the excrement hit the fan in the press, I talked with a legislator in a casual setting. He voted for the law...

He honestly had no idea what he voted for. HV was not allowed to address the assembly, only the committees, and the committee chairs painted a completely different picture, which is what he voted on.

Honestly that is how it typically works.

I agree it is a horrible way to govern, but that is our current system. Getting reelected is important. What they do between the elections is run for election. Everything else is low priority.

This is Unacceptable on ANY Level of Government.

And when the Consequences is the Complete Collapse of an Entire Industry, it has crossed over into borderline Criminal Negligence.

Exactly. It's been this way for so long because most don't care. I've seen a number of advocates burnout because they thought it worked like it is supposed to work. The fact of how it is and the overwhelming apathy, even within our own vaping community, depresses people and they just drop out.

They can't deal with it. I don't blame them really. My beautiful wife says I'm too stubborn for my own good and she's more right than she is wrong.

Pence signed it because the "movers and shakers" of the Republican party machine wanted it signed. I seriously doubt he read a single word of it, or actually cared. The same people that pushed this were featured on an advertisement for a 5 figure, per plate, fundraising dinner for the Trump/Pence campaign in Indy awhile back. These people have money and influence that a bunch of vapers and shops don't have even if 50% were to actually pull in one direction. Actual vapers and shop involvement is much lower than 50%.

If we could have mustered 75%, we would have been able to stop it, but with less than 5% vapers and less than 50% of shops, we have only the courts to correct it.

This is what Blows My Mind. And I'm seeing the Same Thing in CA with Prop 56.

And it seems like the Only People getting Up in Arms are those who want to see tobacco Products/e-Cigarettes Taxed up the Wazoo.

True. The anti-tobacco orgs were against us too. They are well oiled and well funded. Matching t-shirts, working phone banks, letter writing campaigns, and professionally made signs in what seems like a few minutes. They can even trot out a slew of children with rehearsed speeches at the drop of a hat.

It's actually pretty amazing to witness...

The Key Word is "Well Funded". I don't think Most People understand just what kind of Funding is Needed to Fend Off something like this.

And that Funding needs to come from OEM's and Retailers. As well as from Individuals. Both Vapers and from Non-Vapers.

Lawsuits are still going forward. Hoosier Vapers in state court. The Kentucky group in federal court is appealing. Goodcat won for themselves only in federal court and expect judge Young's decision to be used by both.

Due to FBI and media attention, one of the senators that pushed it through has made it up to the level of "mistake" that he plans on addressing with the other people who pushed it in the next session. (Still dancing and pretending even with the FBI going through his garbage.)

"Rep. Alan Morrison, R-Terre Haute, said he sees no conflict of interest in taking a job with a division of Mulhaupt’s, the Lafayette firm that is at the center of the controversial law regulating the vaping industry."

Why is the US Attorney General not involved in this?
