Information and predictions about the European Union Vaping Excise

I wouldn't mind a fair excise tax of 5-10%, but these taxes of 70% and 80% that some states are charging are just highway robbery.
It is highly likely that the tax will be low in the eu. The excise tax is supposed to "depict the health benefits compared to tabacco products" however also meant to "not encourage non-smokers to start using vape products"

Your comment is universal, European politicians, US politicians, Asian politicians - the desire to be a politician should be the first prohibition to becoming a politician.

Look. We protested against many things. The Government in Europe does not give a damn about their citizen. All they care about is making as much money as they possibly can within the shortest amount of time.

E liquid used to cost about a quid per mil in England. Since regulations kicked in it now costs that much for 10 mil whether it's in the shops or online. Everyone was getting seriously, seriously ripped off pre regulations (Ma's n Pa's cottage ind) with sales pitches that say stuff like 1 mil of e liquid is equivalent to a pack of 20. Or some crap like that. In fact that was a primary sales technique on most online vendor sites. Not seeing any of that old crap now though.

We've been paying tax to begin with. Taxation isn't a brand new idea that's just been implimented. We've always paid tax on the goods we buy. Or maybe it's the case i'm wrong about this and no tax has ever been levied on e liquid (because it's special).

Why are people surprised when someone says "the government is going to start taxing sales of e liquid ?.

Where have they been living ?, on the moon !?.........

Your reasoning is partially wrong.

We are talking about ''special'' taxes not the regular tax we pay everyday.
Take Spain for example,in Spain it is called IVA (Impuesto sobre el valor añadido),for most common products you pay a 21% tax which is included in the final price.
So no need to whip out the calculator when it comes to buying something be it food, clothes or a new washer, the price that is on the tag is the final price.

Now if we dive into the smoking scene that 21% doesn't apply anymore,so now we talking about a 78,4% tax on the final price of a pack of smokes.

That is the tax we talking about,we already know we have been paying taxes on everything be it a mod, batteries, cotton, coils or e-liquid.
The taxation that will happen (atleast in Spain) will be similar to the one that cigarettes have.
