I've been lurking here for a little over a week trying to gather information to make smart purchases. The latest thing that I'm questioning is the effect of voltage and resistance on flavor. It seems most of the juice reviews I've read are not done with your standard battery and cartomizer, which is all I have right now. I did buy some M3 Clearomizers (ClearoCartos?) to use with my standard batts, but I didn't clean them prior to use and so my juice tastes like plastic. And I also think I'm using a sub-par juice, Vapor4Life. I'm pretty sure I've reached the conclusion that your standard 1mL cartomizer is not for me; too inconsistent. I am gonna try SI's cartos as a last resort. If I may be so informal and unorganized I'm just going to list the questions that I have. Otherwise I'll have pages of text explaining why I have each question.

Q1. If I want to get the best quality of flavor from a juice am I going to have to go away from the standard batt/carto?
Q2. Are dual coil tank cartomizers worth a crap?
Q3. Can you carry a DCT in your pocket and not worry about leakage?
Q4. Can a 3 week old bottle of juice all of a sudden lose it's flavor?
Q5. Is there such a thing as a small VV battery? (I really don't like the idea of feeling/looking like I'm vaping from a sonicare toothbrush, or a wooden box.)

Right now I am frustrated because I have a bunch of flavors that I don't like, either because they're bad flavors, or I don't have a good enough system to deliver quality flavor. I have let them steep for about 2 weeks and still no improvement on the stuff I have from Highbrow (Caramel, Creme Brulee, Belgian Waffle, and Cappuccino Diablo). The Waffle and Butterscotch from Vapor4Life seem to have gotten worse. I have an order in with Ms.T's for Crumb Cake, Bavarian Creme filled Doughnut, and Gooey Butter Cake, but I know that once I get them it'll be at least a week before I can try them because of steeping. In the meantime I'd like to try to get the best "delivery system" for flavor.

I guess what I'm looking for is something small, portable, and delivers great flavor. Can you help me? My current plan is to buy some 1.5mL Phoenix XL BC 808s from GotVapes, and put them on my standard battery. I do live about 10 minutes from V4L, so I can run in there and buy a DCT if that is an option. I believe they have some tanks in the store that are smaller than the standard 3.5mL.

Q1) You're going to get the best flavor from an atomizer. The only problem with atomizers are that you can only drip a few drops on the atty at a time. You can buy cartridges to go with the atomizer and this will help.

Q2) Not unless you vape at high volts on a big device. The reason I say this is because when you are using dual coils, you are heating two coils at the same time. This runs your battery down. You can get the same effect, and same juice volume by getting the XL single coils.

Q3) As long as you are standing up straight all the time. Or if you put it in a side pocket like on cargo pants.

Q4) As juice 'steeps' (sits over time) it can change it's flavor. I wouldn't say it loses it's flavor, it just changes.

Q5) Yes. It's called a Twist. The 650 mAh batteries are about 3 7/8" long, and the 1000 mAh batteriest are 4 3/4" long.

Hope this clears some things up for you!:)

well it is subjective to the user, but here are my opinions:

A1: best, purest flavors come from atomizers, as stated by kay...and it is worth getting a few simply to try juices out drip at a time.

A2:in my opinion, yes, because i like cartomizers, and because i like tanks, the combination of the two is a win, dual coils give better flavor than the single coils (IMHO) and while battery drainage can be an issue, i generally always have two 1000 mAh batteries with me, thus eliminating the worry about battery life

A3: yes, if you're using a decent DCT, i've found that the smoktech DCTs do not leak if filled properly, i own two and have never had a leak, also, a sturdy container to keep it in helps as well, like a hard pencil case or a toothbrush holder to keep it from bouncing around with your keys.

A4: it should change, i wouldn't say lose it, but most likely it will just get sweeter

A5: eGo twist, eGo VV (LCD version), iTaste...thats three i can think of

as for your requests, small and portable, delivers great flavor, that sounds like a mini vivi nova...which is a wise investment as you can rebuild them for pennies on the dollar as opposed to DCTs (i also own a mini nova and LOVE IT), also you might want to try out the CE3s, which i have heard wonderful things about but i have yet to try one, also i'd grab an atty for tasting juices....hope it helps, welcome to ECF!

Atomizers for best flavor. Dripping or bottom feeding will also get the most flavor.

Q2. Are dual coil tank cartomizers worth a crap?

Nope not unless you're running enough power for 2 coils. Stick to single coils for tanks.

Q3. Can you carry a DCT in your pocket and not worry about leakage?

I do every day.

Q4. Can a 3 week old bottle of juice all of a sudden lose it's flavor?

Unlikely but not impossible I suppose.

Q5. Is there such a thing as a small VV battery? (I really don't like the idea of feeling/looking like I'm vaping from a sonicare toothbrush, or a wooden box.)
Ego twist.

there is a small vv the ego twist had mine for 2 days now it is the same size as 2 aa stacked and vv. i use these cartos on it and they are good at 4v Super Shorty 1.7 Ohm 510 Chrome Cartomizer - 510 Cartomizers - Cartomizers - PV Parts the only bad thing you have to fill them all the time so you need your juice on you at all times. it is also good on a 3.7v but better on my twist. i have to refill it every hour to 30 min depending on my usage. also easy to fit in your pocket :2c:

1) SI cartos suck. You can search for them here but Bloog (bloogplanet.com) has the best 808d blanks. You'll see SI cartos all over the boards here for crappy padding which I can attest to.

2) Clearomizers will suck your money away --the QC is lousy. Expect to get a great box, a defective box, a great clero, a leaky piece of crap.

3) Try buying a Vivi Nova 2.5 or a vivi mini. I just got them--they mute your juice but if your juice can handle it it's a great NON leaky delivery system, really great on the ego twist. I'm up to like day 11 with the same head I washed which means 0$.

http://www.gotvapes.com/

has the nova and mini. The mini is like 10$ try it out when you get a twist. Nova is like $14 but has 3 heads.

4) V4L flavor juice blows IMO. It tore up my sinsues and IMO is crap. Johnson Creek is where I went next--it's great quality but expensive.

I'd say some small ego twists and a vivi nova or mini for work/out.

The Twist has 510 threading, so anything with 510 threading will work.

You can buy atomizers, cartomizers, tanks, Stardusts, clearomizers etc, and as long as they say 510 threading, it will fit on the Twist. If you want to use something that has an 808 threading, you need to buy a 510 to 808 adapter like what I've linked here.

Adapters - PV Parts

SI cartos are quite good 808s. I use them. They have a bottom coil for even heating. They also have an XL size which I think holds 1.4ml. I have even boiled up some of my very well used ones to clean them out and they are working fine. I honestly thought one of the boiled ones was a new one while vaping. Lots of people use them. I don't find them crappy. They have been better than some others I've used.

Thank you everyone for your replies! I'm going to go with 2 eGo C Twist 900maH batteries (one just won't do!), a pack of GotVapes PHOENiX™ Bottom Coil XL 1.5ml Cartomizer 2.4-2.6ohms, and two GotVapes Sapphire 2012 v4 Bud Atomizer 1.5ml 510 2.2-2.4ohm-2PK.

I do have three more questions if no one minds.....

Can the 900mAH battery handle a dual coil tank like this - GotVapes SMOKtech Clear eGo Dual Coil 3.5ml Tank 1.5ohm - CLEAR? The description says it's for an eGo battery, but I wasn't sure if I would need to get a 1000maH battery to handle the tank.

How would the flavor compare on a GotVapes Vision Mini ViVi Nova™ 2.5ml 2.4ohm vs the SMOKtech DCT with the eGo C Twist?

And lastly, is there a performance/flavor difference between a regular atomizer (can only handle a few drips), and the Sapphire that I'm going to get (cartridge attached to atomizer)?

Thanks.

Q1: yes that tank will be fine. You don't want dual coil cartomizers though. Stick with single.

Q2:flavor will be slightly muted on both. I like the vivi nova just for its simplicity.

Q3: not familiar with the sapphire but I'd have to think performance wise the atty on its own will perform best.

Out of curiosity, why would I want to stay away from a DCT? Would it make a difference with a 1000maH battery?

DCT is a generic term indicative of a dual coil tank. In fact any tank other than on a mod of some sort is most likely only a single coil. A single coil cartomizer in the tank instead of a dual coil. Reason being with 2 coils you need high volts because you're splitting the volts between the coils. The 1000mah only refers to the available charge of the device. The output voltage is still going to be restricted to at most 4.8v. Which is more than enough for a single coil but not enough for a dual coil.
