do you pull the cotton out

dry burn the wire

then replace with new cotton

;)

Nope, I just soak it in a small shot glass that's filled up close to full. I mean taking the tank apart, not the coil itself. I will pull it after 2 hours and look at the bottom, if it looks cloudy then I dump it and start over. The e juice will migrate to the bottom and just sit almost separated, like water and oil. 4 to 5 hours and the cotton comes out pretty white. I made a mistake once and didn't wait long enough for it to dry out all the way. I filled the tank and primed the coil and took a hit a few minutes later. I've got say that vaporized vodka will buzz you pretty good!

I USED to do that , back before I rebuilt

used to get an old juice bottle (15 or 30ml) & fill with vodka…
then IN THE CAP of the juice bottle, place a kanger coil inside
and fill with vodka…

fit perfect, worked great, and used VERY little vodka
dump cap, screw back on the juice bottle and it made a nice little kit...

those flat top caps stood up good enuff to soak for awhile

:)

I use cheap vodka, stuff that's only been filtered 20 times instead of 200;) I ran out one time and had to clean the coils but all I had was some mid grade single malt scotch, it worked ok but I used it sparingly. I felt a little bad, but it only cost $36 for a fifth which is almost criminally cheap for some decent single malt. Still, my brother would have called what I did with that single malt "alcohol abuse".

Everclear works well and evaporates quickly. Only about $18.50 a fifth here in LA.

I feel like a huge criminal. I watered my front lawn for TEN MINUTES!!!!
Yep. What kills me is that the local shopping mall is building a new parking structure and they're just spraying the water away in a futile effort to keep the dust down.

Yes, but they HAVE to spray that water to avoid getting fines for making dust. Sort of a "darned if you do and darned if you don't" thing. The building and air pollution codes require that almost everywhere now.
Indeed. Also, it is a water pollution issue, as the sediment also gets washed into the ocean.

But! If I, as an average citizen, hose down my car for five minutes or forget to turn off my sprinklers for 48 hours after a very mild drizzle, I can be fined for up to $2,000.

Fairly soon they won't have to do that. In the future, when we turn on the water, dust will be the only thing that comes out. egads.

Here is an interesting podcast containing some testing and commentary about temperature control.

Sitting down, facing forward.
I definitely agree that TC is in it's infancy, exact control with the current methodology is approximate at best and that the manufacturers should provide good test results for their products. On the other hand, the argument that TC is being pushed out for vapers to be guinea pigs is kind of a "strawman" argument. How'd e-cigs get started in the first place? Exactly the same way and the same is true of every new tank/coil/wick configuration, VV/VW mod and every other "innovation" that has come along.

I can also say that TC does offer another, very big, advantage in my opinion...very reduced maintenance when compared to similar setups in kanthal. I'm passing 400ml in my current TC setup with no degradation in vapor or performance. Non-TC with kanthal has a problem reaching 100ml in comparable setups.

Yes.. it's really a matter of, do you want to be an Early Adopter and suffer the many and varied vagaries as the technology matures, or hang back and wait for it to be great? I tried the first option, was disappointed, so now I'm hanging back.

Strongly disagree, and this was the rationale that got me to try it. My super-gunking juice can go 2, sometimes 3 days without needing a dry-burn/rewick using kanthal... with titanium, after one day, it just won't make vapor anymore, thanks to the gunk buildup, and titanium is too expensive to be replacing the coil everyday. It's just too fussy and fidgety and troublesome (at least, the Evic-VT is), the way the tech stands right now. So I'll wait for something better to emerge, or I'll just stick with kanthal indefinitely.
