Thing of it is, I do think LiPO packs will take over in vaping, maybe slowly, but it will happen. There are 6000mah LiPo packs available now and that would last most people two days or more. Yes, they're more expensive but not prohibitively. The other thing is that their discharge curve is "flatter" than IMR, they maintain full voltage with load better than IMR. I know, with VV/VW/TC who cares, but it even helps those electronics as well.
I know Innokin makes the SVD, and VTR, which take 18650 batteries and aren't truly proprietary. But, if you think of how Innokin has started, the VV/VW was proprietary with a magnetic head. Thankfully they changed that to a fixed Ego/510. The VTR was "optimized" for their tanks, iClear series which made it sort of proprietary. Now they're trying again with the Disrupter but at least are introducing LiPo as part of that.
Again, I'd love to see the VTR in a 40 watt, temperature controlled version that also takes at least a 22mm tank. That, to me, would be the best of all worlds. In the mean time, I'm working on my own version of exactly that. If I can't buy what I want, I'll d&^% well make it!
