So, I stayed away from the cigarettes for 3 months completely................but then I got lazy. I didn't feel like re-filling all the CE3s for a half hour every night (cleaning them, the syringe, etc.). I don't really even have an excuse, one turned into a couple and for a weekend, all cigarettes. I have backed it out a bit now, the only cigarettes that I am smoking are during the day and I don't have any at night at all.

I was just curious what you all did if you happened to fall off the wagon.

I have been off the cancer sticks for 9 months. I have slipped up here and there, mostly when drinking, but it never went more than once, and usually ended up in me being grossed out by the nasty taste. With that in mind, I could see how it could definitely be a struggle if you didn't have the right juice/equipment combo for you. Maybe a different sort of tank like the clearo or nano would be easier for you to work with? Keep trying, eventually you 'will' get it!!

If at first you don't succeed....:vapor:

I made it through drinking during the three months, which I thought would be the hardest part but I was actually fine with it. Right now, I have the best set up that I have looked at. The cartos has a cotton taste to them, the Clearos are a pain to clean, the nano were just awful and the tanks are usually big. I want the easiest solution with not much upkeep and the best result which, right now is the CE3.

The issue right now is that I can keep the same flavor in the CE3 and toss it when I get bored without cleaning it but that doesnt last long. I enjoyed mixing flavors and having different things with me on a daily basis but that requires cleaning them every night.

Part of my problem is recently, I have been keeping cigarettes as emergency and I need to just stop keeping them with me. My laziness to maintain the PV will supersede my laziness to go and buy them.

I quit on May 28th, the day I got my order from SI. Had one stinky a couple days later just to compare.

There have been times when I was hit with a craving hard out of nowhere.

However, just in case, I kept a half pack of smokes in the door of my vehicle...all summer...in Phoenix, Arizona...115' heat. So that, if I ever gave in to the urge, I would have a nice crispy stale smoke...lol. Now I just gotta throw them away.

What I would recommend, buy a few extra boxes of CE3's, enough that you can fill up multiples of your favorite flavors, then do the refilling all at once. That way you would have days worth of vape, giving you flexibility on when you decide to refill.

The first week of vaping, I was able to go all day without a real craving for an "analog." I always took 2 cigs with me to bed, though - just in case. Sure enough, I would smoke them. After each one, I'd feel guilty and realize they didn't do any more for me than vaping.

What worked for me was "daring" myself. I left the cigs on my desk and went to bed. I made it through the night, and every night after. I had one more cig, 3 days later when my dog died. I thought surely that cig would feel amazingly good. I didn't even get light-headed.. and that was it.

I don't recommend forcing yourself into a situation that you usually smoked cigs. But if it's something you do everyday.. dare yourself to go without them.

good point....I would have to let myself run out then just not go to the store to buy more....tried to stay peaceful on the couch and vape for a few days... and just ignored the anxiety of not having cigarettes....soon enough full time vaping.

Well, I'm with Mudhill in that my pv's are my crutches. I gave up the smoke, but not the nicotine. I fell off the wagon exactly once - I was so upset and po'd about some things at work that I bummed a tobacco cigarette off a neighbor and I smoked the entire thing, even though my throat hurt and my eyes hurt and I was gagging - and I was in turn po'd at myself for doing so. I only had the one. Then, I went back to my pv's and overviewed my liquids stock and realized I still needed the nicotine and started ordering 11 and 12 mg liquids instead of 0 and 6 mg. The cravings are still there, but not as bad since I upped the mg. As for tossing the nicotine, well I will eventually, but I'm in no hurry at the moment.

I wish I was brave enough to DIY, but there are two things that prevent it: 1) I know myself well enough to know the commitment to DIY won't be there, and 2) I have that beautiful 2-yr-old pup that gets into everything - I do mean everything!

I plan to get into DIY at some point, but I'm just going to buy some unflavored juice w/the nic already in it and add flavor to it. No way I'm messing w/pure nic, that stuff scares me.

That's how I've been thinking too, at least for now. But again there's the time commitment involved.

Good point about the nic levels, Kia. I couldn't come close to quitting without a higher nic level.

I know what you mean about the cleaning the CE3's and not wanting to spend the time or the hassle.

I had a week where I had dirty clearos that didn't vape right and I filled a couple of Nanos and one had a tight draw and another wouldn't fire at all. I was stressing over money in general and the money I spend on vaping in particular and I didn't want to buy more stuff for a few more days anyways. My funk started when I posted I was worried my supplies would be late due to Hurricane Sandy and several people made comments about how shallow I was. I was ready to quit altogether and then I went back up to 6 or 7 or so cigs a day.

Here's the thing - those people who made the comments were out of line. It's like going to the AA meeting and having people be all over you for problems throughout the nation instead of encouraging you to keep up the good work. And I am not starving so a bought some more of my faves - the clearos. I dusted myself off and told myself to keep going and to buy more materials. So, on Black Friday or Cyber Monday I will be online making sure I have the clearos I love and plenty of juice.

I don't hate myself for smoking. I'm only human and smoking does great things for me. But the downside is that smoking is smelly, expensive and could cost me my freedom and independence. I hate going to the doctor and if I get COPD, I will be going to the doctor. So, I am cutting back to my former low level of smoking which was 2-4 a day. I am telling myself how much I like vaping. I am reminding myself that not smoking is wonderful for me and makes my friends and my husband very happy. I am reminding myself that with a little effort, I have virtually quit so it is worth a little extra effort to make sure my gear is in good shape and that there are plenty of backups.

Since you like to mix, make sure your gear is organized for easy refills, clean out your CE3's most evenings and put the in the clean bin so you always have clean ones available. That way you don't have to clean and refill all at once. I don't bother to clean the clearos since the times that I have hasn't made them work any better. If it is gunked up then I get a new one out. I'm worth it.

Keep going, Drummerskey. Get yourself back into a good place and quit smoking again. You can do it. Always vape through the cravings first and if that doesn't work, have one cigarette.

I'm sorry, I guess I was on a bit of a rant to simply say, get a plan that works for you and if it stops working, get a new plan:) Don't be mad at yourself but do try to get back on track. Figure out what triggers your weak points and then figure out ways around them. Make your own list of benefits bearing in mind that you can't buy back your health once it tubes and your lungs are important for breathing.

Thanks for posting Drummerskey. Made me work through some of my own issues tonight and I appreciate that. Hope you work through yours:)

I was doing outstanding. No cigs for about a month. Then I got a new helper on the truck and he smoked so I jumped right in. I never smoke when I'm not working. But I've gotten back on the wagon a little here lately, and I'm trying to get back off. Just makes it easy when you have someone sitting next to you smoking and you can get one anytime you want.

I've never had a problem with smoking while drinking. I actually enjoy vapeing more when I'm drinking. Mixing a good beer with a good vape is heaven.
