Been vaping for a few months now. Highly interested in rba . I've noticed the igoL is a good place to start however I'm not sure what mechanical mod to get . Or honestly how voltage/wattage/ohms come into play. I vaguely remember ohms law from an engineering class before I switched my major. If anyone could help or even move this thread to the appropriate place I'd be very appreciative. By the way merry Christmas

I was in a similar scenario as you...

Vaping for 2 months and wanted more. I was using an iTaste VTR with Protanks and it was ok. Kept me off the analogs, but not super thrilling. Got the iGo-L on a Smok Magneto running at 0.5 ohm dual coil with drilled air holes (love a light draw) with an 30A high drain with an 18650 and love it for hard hits. If I didn't have the Kayfun Lite Plus, it would be my go to vape. Dripping still seems to be the ultimate hit, but is a little too high maintenance for on-the- go vaping. At home give me a dripper, outside give me a tank mod.

If going regulated mod, would recommend something that puts out at least 15 watts and 6 volts if headed in the rba direction. Many to choose from, SvoëMesto and Provari would be my top 2 recommendations. Both excellent devices and will give one years of quality vape. The Innokin Svd, Telsa, and some others would be good choices too.

If wanting to eventually get into mechs and sub ohm builds would highly recommend the Hcigar Nemesis Clone mated with the Evolv Kick 2 . The Kick 2 would turn a mechanical mod into a regulated VW mod that accepts builds from .5-3 ohms and puts out up to 15 watts, giving you all the protection of a regulated mod. A great device and combo if that's the direction one is going.

My first mod was the Provari, love it and still use it daily. The P got me into rba's and DIY juice and vaping at 15 watts. I then bought the Nemi clone and the Kick 2, and is a great device, I also added the magnetic switch upgrade. Vapes great with standard and sub ohm builds. The kick 2 fits perfectly in the nemesis in all battery configurations. Was the reason I chose the Nemi, wanted to kick it in the 18650 mode.

Whether you choose regulated or mechanical, you'll always want to go with quality IMR batteries. If choosing Mechanical, recommend batteries with a 30 amp limit, that way if you do go sub ohm you'll have the safest configuration when you are ready and have enough knowledge to do it.

There is a lot of great choices out there, many more than I have mentioned for sure. If you like box mods then the Reo would be a great choice, but that's not the direction I chose.

Good luck, be safe,

Vape long and Prosper.

I love my igo l. I use it in my dna20 powered mod. But have used it in my vamo and ego twist when I built it with higher ohms. I really like it with a cotton wick wrapped around the deck so I can drip a lot of juice down in the deck and not worry about a dry hit.

Great thing is it very cheap and if you don't love it, it's not a huge hit to the wallet.

I really love my kayfun too. Very easy to build on and a wonderful vape.

I bought a Nemesis clone and Igo L from Fasttech. I love it, that setup is all I've used since I got it. You will need good 18650 or 18350 batteries, a charger I just ordered these from amazon, wick and wire from 101vape. I got the ohm meter and concerned about the batteries I also got the kick from fasttech. I don't need the kick now but I'm glad I got it. Not sure what your budget is but this set up was less than $90 total, plus the month wait for shipping.

It took a couple tries to build my first coil, and then figure out how to keep the coil clean. Drip 10 drops and have a decent amount of vape time before dripping again. If you want to dump juice in a tank and vape no messing around don't get a dripper. There is more fiddling around with a dripper, and its not super convenient when driving but I think vapor quality and taste are worth it.

Thanks Blind Squirrel (how's that name! LOL) and amesenbrink. Appreciate your comments and frankness about the maintenance issue and fiddling regarding a dripper, but also your views that it does give you the "ultimate hit" and taste.

So perhaps one needs both a good dripper and a great tank. That's what I'm reading into this.

I have 3 vaping "modes" at the moment:
1. At home, testing and tasting, just vaping - probably a dripper will be great for that
2. At home/office working, just want to vape without any hassles - i can use my Protank
3. On the go - out and about, car, visiting friends etc - probably the Protank, or even a smaller Clearo type device for portability

Starting to see the picture. Thanks all ;-)

Happy holidays

If you want sub ohm you will need a mech mod. If you want to build 1.3+ I'd recommend an MVP 2. Good battery life. Very accurate as well. As far as dripping goes I can only suggest sub ohm. But before that you should learn ohms law basics and invest in a ohm meter to check for shorts. A decent cheap mech mod would be the k101 or k100. That's what I started with. Low voltage drop for a cheap mod.

For an RDA I use an IGO L, using micro-coils (do a search for 'micro coils' - close to a thousand posts!) and cotton for a wick. Very easy to do your own coils. Great when I'm sitting here at the computer. Grab a bottle, eight drops and have at it. Out and about I use a Vivi Nova tank or an AGA T2 RTA (Rebuildable Tank Atomizer). The AGA works well just quite a bit heavier than the Vivi! Using on a Provari..
