Intrigued by a bottom feeder! but is it right for me?

I'm quite an experienced Vaper, used several variable voltage devices, cartos, attys, tanks, rebuildables, mods and all that jazz, but my howitzer failed electrically and I've been looking around for a new ecig, something a bit different. Then I saw the Vapage Vmod XL and fell in love, but what's this? She's a bottom feeder? I've seen em around but never used one. I'm a fiddler at heart you see, so I need to be able to play a bit, and the ability to stack batteries is something I look forward to. Now, with this being a purely mechanical device, I assume this has no amp draw limit? If so, awesome! Now what are the main drawbacks of a bottom feeder? I fail to see why more people don't have them here in the UK!

Not so sure you want to stack batteries in something completely mechanical... I don't know if the VMod even has a hot spring. That could be bad especially being a plastic body. The plastic could melt and potentially create a permenant bond with the contacts of the battery(ies). One of the biggest downfalls to ALL bottom feeders is the ease of flooding the atty / carto. It's much harder to do with a carto, but it's possible. Another downfall is how easy it is to use which eventually will equal lots of money spent on liquid. :) The VMod seems like a good entry point, but how much would be too much to spend?

One pretty big drawback with a VMod is that it doesn't have a tube in the bottle. This means that to get juice where it needs to go, you have to turn it upside down and give it a good squeeze. This is bad because you have no idea how much juice it getting there. Having a tube, you can take a dry drag on the atty/carto WHILE squeezing the bottle and here a gurgle come up the tube. This is known as "blind squonking" and it's VERy useful when you are in the car or doing something else where you can't fully concentrate on your mod.

I'm not saying you HAVE to buy a REO, there are other capable bottom feeders out there with the same functionality as a REO, but I would like to save you from wasting money as well. If you want to stack batteries, atleast get a REO Grand or REO VV. The Grand has a small safety feature, the hot spring, that has been tried and true to doing it's duty. The VV has circuitry to protect you even further. They really aren't that much more than a VMod Xl and you will be much happier with the build quality and performance.

I prefer the reo... also own a vmod, its how I discovered bottom feeders. Actually kinda idiot proof due to the no tube feed system. It uses an intermediate chamber to feed the juice... flip upside down to feed into the chamber (wait for a bubble) then back upright squeeze the bottle. I rarely flooded atomisers with the vmod while learning, where I frequently flooded with the reo. No doubt the reo is better quality and in the end is a better all around vape, but the vmod serves me well as a backup device now.

Wow, I didn't know that ease, a "juice chamber" does sound like a good design. Now if it just wasn't made of plastic.... and didn't use a proprietary bottle... lol

I have a Vmod and I really like it. I agree that the inner chamber makes it almost fool proof. I have only flooded the atty a couple times and that was only because I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing. I have the smaller (14500 battery) one right now and plan to get an XL the next time they go on sale. I don't even use my ego/kgo batts anymore. I know this is not the last bottom feeder I will buy, but it was a great entry into the world of bottom feeding devices.

Thumbs up for a REO here. I use my grand all day every day. Never lets me down and is working just a perfectly on day one as it does now well over a year later. I've never used a Vmod, but there are many who seem to like them. Give them a shot, its nice that on a fresh batt. with a full bottle of juice I can vape my face off at work all day and not worry about topping off.
