Rewrapped 3 of my vtc5s. Forgot to pick up more insulator rings reused the positive side plastic rings...... came out pretty good..... There approximately a year old and work perfectly..... They just looked like crap..... Also I don't have to look at any weird colored wraps in my s/L black Reo............ It was pretty easy to do just need to trim the wrappers a bit.... for flat tops anyway...... These are sized for button top..... cut 2 or 3mm and use a *heat gun..... blow dryer didn't cut it.

I did a pile of my old Vtc5s today also. I did all of them in translucent orange gold. Looks sick. Hair dryer worked fine for me.
The MyMod looks great once I wrap up with the other guy I'm going to need one of these. Any more thoughts on anodizing? A cobalt blue anno would be right up my alley.
I'm very happy to see even more choices for the bottom feeder in all of us. Kudos!

Prove it......pics.... I wanna see what translucent orange gold looks like in a Reo...... Actually in your kaw green sl reo.......? My blow dryer doesn't get hot enough...... Now I definitely wanna see pics..... Cause I noticed the seams come out completely with a heat gun..... I'm calling you out on your rapping skillz. Lol jk bra

Well, aluminum is a lot tougher than wood so mine will probably not break as easily. If there is any weak point in a mod, I think it's the 510 connector, which is why I've put a lot of thought into it.
I've never thought that the aluminum body can break under normal circumstances. It's 3mm thick after all.
A member PMed me and asked if the reason I was inactive for awhile is because someone "shut down" the project. He mentioned that some other modder was never heard of again due to "patent" issues. I just want to make sure my mod doesn't infringe on anyone's patent.
I believe in innovation and intellectual property protection. I don't want to infringe on anyone's patent so I've tried to make mine mod as different as possible from existing bottom feeders (there are quite a few, especially in Europe).
So if you are supplier reading this and you think certain element of my design has infringed on your patent, let me know.

I assume you're implying that I should go with a fuse? Because I think if this does occur there's room albeit a little.... There is some. So how do I employ a fuse? Is there a link? I just got this thing still taking it in.

Any other battery will depress that spring less and minimize chances of it making contact after melting by unloading tension.
If that's what you want to do.
I used a piggy back spade connector on mine. Some of the other guys found male/female spade connectors that would make it easier. I just picked mine up at a local Napa auto parts.
You just trim and fold as necessary then screw it in place with the screw that held the spring. Maybe pick up an extra screw or two from rob in case you strip one.
And of course there's bending one leg of the fuse to connect with the battery.

I have dropped a spring with a vtc5 and it works fine. plenty of room spring just gets flatter is all[emoji1]
That's all good and everything, but if you don't replace the spring after it drops....it won't be a spring that drops the 2nd time around!!!
I was saying that there is room for the spring to drop not that one should continue using after. Just to clarify
I understand the mod in question is the REO, but how did you get the spring to drop anyway? Was it due to extreme sub ohming? or was it due to an actual short circuit?
Paul it's what happens with a hard short.... Coil touching top cap the bottom spring which is gold plated barilium Cooper melts collapses the spring kinda further dropping your battery away from positive side. I've seen it happen on video I thought superxdrifter demo'd on YT.
