The little blue ones I have don't have 'protected' stamped on them. I use them in my Janty Stick (V2). But the new Janty Stick V3 uses the "Joye" little blue ones, which don't have much of anything stamped on them. The other little blue ones that work in the Janty Stick V2 don't work well in the V3. Does it matter if they're protected or not, since they're so tiny?

It doesn't matter what size they are, any li-ion can overheat and burst into flames.

Since they're unprotected, it means they don't have the built-in shut off when it reaches a certain voltage. Most are somewhere around a 2.5v cut off. If your unprotected battery goes under a certain voltage and you then recharge it, it can become unstable.

The whole point of having protected batteries is to protect them from going over their normal charging voltage, or over-discharging. The PCB also protects against short circuits because it's designed to shut off power if such a thing happens.

I wouldn't use them if you're not 100% certain you can keep a steady watch on it's charge.

The devices that you build look wonderful. I bought a mod from another company and paid a lot of money for it and it looks like hammered cat crap. I keep it in a drawer because I'm so disgusted with the look of it. I don't even use it. I think I'm goin to have to buy one from you now.

Oh my.... This battery fear is driving me nuts!!!!!!

Most 10440 batteries will not say protected on them... They are to small to get all that writing on it...

To check and see if the battery is in fact protected you should see a strip inside the plastic wrapping of the battery that runs from the negative end to the positive end...

Most, if not all batteries that have exploded were unprotected batteries that were used in series... Ie... one on top of the other (2 total) in the mod...

I have yet to read ANYWHERE where a single battery, protected or not, has blown....

My .02 on the whole terrified of batteries thing....

I talked to the guy about my ugly mod and he basically just blew me off and didn't care. He told me that it was not a problem that I spent a lot of money and got something that was ugly as sin and others said that this look adds to the charm of the mod. I say it's just crappy workmanship. That's cool though. He will never get another penny from me.

I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed with David's work... It's top quality... I also had a rather expensive mod that the button wiggled on and I had to sand it to even get it to fire....

I sold it and have never looked back.... The Precise is Gorgeous and the Super 6 is a workhorse...

The S6 for regular use and the Precise for out and about.... Can't beat either one of em.... Or get them both and really be stylin...

What are you talking about? I was merely stating facts, and trying to enlighten another member about the differences between non-protected and protected, and why protected are useful.

No need to get bent out of shape over it.

Any single battery can become unstable if it's over-discharged then charged again. That is a simple, well documented FACT that every battery manufacturer and supplier states.

As I have a Precise on order and also use a Vapre 51 quite effectively, I found that I needed fresh 10440 batteries. Unfortunately, Vaprlife is sold out. Vaporkings did not have any. I did not feel like sending to DX or elsewhere in China for a small order. So, I got some protected blue generics from madvapes. I have used a couple of batches of those blue generics in the past and they seem to outperform grey Trustfires with their phony 600 MAH ratings. I will see how they run. Anyone who has got any ideas for U.S. sources on better 10440's, please let me know.

It's really hard to find protected 10440's in stock in the US.... I usually order from lighthound and usually only get AW brand batteries but AW nor lighthound sell a protected 10440... They have an unprotected version but not protected....

I ordered a ton from DX a while back and if you want I can send you a few to use / hold you over until you find some in stock here in the US as I have like 30 of them total....

Shoot me a PM with your mailing address and I can get a few out to you... Snail mail, but better than nothing... :)

Oh, they are the DX Trustfire PROTECTED 10440's ( they do not say protected on the battery but you can clearly see the protection strip :) )
