Love the Samsungs for general, But since I got the HG2's they last alot longer on a charge for the D2 in temp mode. I been getting about 15% more run time than the 25r out of them.
That's about on par with what I am getting.

I swapped out my eVic VTC mini last night at the B&M for another IPV D2 since the TC on my mini was not working properly... Wouldn't you know that they just released a new firmware that might fix the TC issues...

Oh well, c'est la vie... The D2 is a great working TC mod and if I had kept the VTC mini, I'd still be waiting for a fix.

The new one I picked up has a V3 firmware my other one is a V2, is there a list of changes anywhere?

Main change seems to simply be no more live resistance display. Which is a downgrade in my book, since I rely on it, but I understand why they did it.

For those using the D2 with pre-built Ni coils in tanks like the Crown, Freemax, etc -- are you guys locking in the ohm resistance, or just leaving it unlocked? I know the lock feature can really help for coils you might build yourself, but also heard that for pre-built coils, the ohm lock resistance feature isn't really needed.

Have you noticed any differences in the vaping experience when locked vs unlocked?

I just grabbed 2 IPV D2s and set them up over the weekend with 2 ST Mini v2s. The wife lost her IPV Mini 2 and I figured I'd grab these as the travel kits so I can make TC builds for everything & not just the SXMMs we currently tote around.

I might just prefer this to my SX Mini M! I don't really have a need for the various temp profiles or power settings (soft, standard, powerful, etc.) on the SXMM. The Yihi 130 chip on the D2 is has a smooth & consistent delivery, I love how small this thing is for an 18650 mod!!! TC build on the STmini was surprisingly easy...28g Ni200, 6 3mm coils and I'm good to go, no shorts or 'check atomizer' issues, even with coils that are slightly touching.

I've got a Boxer DNA200 coming just to I can see how the other half lives (Evolv), but I don't really see it taking the place of the D2 as a daily driver unless I get good performance out of the lipo and it's quick to recharge. The D2 isn't firmware upgradeable but at this point in the game I wouldn't expect that in a $40 mod. This is an outstanding mod for the money...kudos to P4U once again!

Really?

Well, I always lock the resistance in both IPV D2 and eVIC VTC mini. Why?

Because I really want a working TC mod, and not to do the locking procedure poses a serious threat to that.

Imagine you've been using a 0,17 ohm Ni-200 commercial coil in your VTC mini. You change it for another one up to 0,2 ohm and there is a likely chance that the mod asks you for 'New coil Same Coil'. The IPV D2 is far more discreet, it asks for nothing.

Same with a 0,09 ohm coil, the EVIC even takes that new measurement as the new base resistance. The IPV D2 does not. Remember, it is really reserved.....;)

But if the base resistance is not properly set, with a higher one the mod will likely enter in protection mode forever, wondering if some dry coil is present, or you'll get zero vapours..... and with a lower one the mod would think that the coil is not heating up and you'll likely get the Mother of All Dry-Hits, not less!

It's a restrained one, but it's so easy to press the '+' and '-' buttons at once! Just remember to do so....
Code:
at the proper room-temperature stage, feeble human!
(A proposed error message for that screen should tell us like that........).

Maybe I confused you talking about mods which effectively 'check' for coil resistances to help the user in case new values are detected like the eVIC VT/VTC, and Evolv powered ones, and those which not, like YiHi powered ones.

Your IPV D2, in case of different resistances, continues without changes unless you recalibrate it (locking the resistance), which avoid inadvertent recalibration, but leaves the user in charge.

Tapatalking...Mind those lampposts!

Indeed it's important to learn how each brand treats TC and ohm locking. I own a D2, and lock my ohms at room temp, or suffer a bad surprise. Now that I'm expecting my first DNA200, I am learning how that device handles it, from the manual:

"Resistance lock: The DNA 200 relies on the cold resistance of the atomizer to measure temperature accurately. If the connection is not stable or if you find the measured resistance drifts with time, it may be desirable to lock the atomizer resistance. To do so, while locked hold both the Fire and Up buttons for two seconds to enter Resistance Lock mode. In this mode, the DNA 200 will use the present atomizer cold resistance without refinement until the atomizer is disconnected or the resistance lock is disabled. A lock symbol will replace the ohm symbol on the display. To disable resistance lock, repeat the procedure to lock it."

Far too often do I see people mentioning "I heard this and I heard that" and use that phrase carelessly without realizing what they're actually repeating/saying - regardless if it's true or not. It's a phenomenon which often creates confusion for others who might interpret it as "gospel." What difference would it make if it was a prebuilt coil or not?...resistance is resistance, and noobs will be noobs - although we're all noobs in one way or another.
