IPV Mini V2 ???

I bought my wife an ipv mini 2 because she had the IPV mini that pushed out 30 watts and she wanted more than the 30 watts. I love the little thing it seems to preform just as well as my IPV 3 (if i where comparing watt for watt on each device) but the best thing about it is that it is pretty small for a 70 watt mod. My wife usually vapes a dual coil set up at around .4 ohms at around 45-50 watts and the battery will last her all day! She never uses the pass through USB charging cable to re charge however i do know that the USB pass through worked fine on the 30 watt version. I think that charging battery with USB cable may take awhile but on the other hand if you forget an extra battery and your battery dies you can plug in your USB cable and vape as a pass through until you get to a newly fresh battery. one last thing to point out is that if you have large hands the mod will be disappear in your hands. i hope this helps you make a decision one way or another!

I have to keep telling myself I don't need this one, and to wait for the new sx mini, heh.

At twice the cost of the iPV Mini II, and a very similar design, I don't see the point? There's not enough difference in the functions of the chipset to cause me to want one. And this reviewer had issues with the gravity sensor:

The new one is supposed to have yihi's temperature control, and if so, I'd like to try it.

If comparing the current SX mini to the IPV Mini v2 the differences aren't as glaring, but the sx mini is a more accurate chip with true step down. The quality/construction of the mod is better too, IMO.

I believe the temp control only works when using Nichrome wire...

I think you meant Nickel, like the DNA 40 boards use. There are not enough facts about the yihi board yet to know for sure. It definitely won't use kanthal for temp control, that much you can be certain.

FYI for a couple of you (who like me) indicated that your battery was catching when inserting. I just had to change mine, and I started squeezing pretty firmly on the back seam. Not sure if I heard a little pop, but now the battery chamber seems better aligned and the battery slides right in without catching (just like my Mini V1) The end cap also screws on more smoothly - not too tight any more.

(I'd taken my Mini 2 to my local B&M and talked to one of the "shirts" behind the counter. He "recommended" taking a DREMEL to the interior to "smooth it out" Uhhhh, I really didn't want any metal fragments inside my battery chamber, so I intentionally ignored the "advice"....)

The tighter battery fit is by design! Pioneer 4 U placed a little bump in the tube roughly behind the display screen to prevent the batt from rattling in there! Don't take a dremel to it! Also, if your batts are rewrapped (over the original wrap) they wont fit! Trust me!

I've tried about 6 different batteries, and all of them were getting a "slice" down the sides of the wrap. Exact same ones I use in my V1. I was having to SHOVE (which I know wasn't good) the battery into the chamber. Even with things "more settled to me", the battery is not rattling. Only bumps I see in the chamber are right where the end cap screws in. I was having a lot of difficulty tightening (like the chamber was out of round) the end cap. I'm good with something to keep the battery from rattling (my V1 doesn't rattle either) - I just didn't like cutting the wrap on the batteries.... And, the battery wouldn't rotate smoothly once in the chamber.

All I was suggesting was that I was getting the chamber "into round" rather than being ever-so-slightly oblong.... The back seam (along the battery chamber) wasn't flush like it is on my V1. It's now a little more flush.

I do thank you for the heads-up :)

My iPV Mini V1 sliced up the batts like you describe. It was a burr in the machining of the threads at the bottom of the batt tube. You'll know if that's what's causing the scratch because the scratch will run nearly the entire length of the batt.

To see the bump I describe up inside the batt tube, you'll need a flashlight. It's on everyone I've seen!

I still think people are getting Scratches from one of the 2 Dimples that hold the Cap threaded ring in place. 2 or my 3 have one protruding slightly. They can be sanded down.
I agree, a Bump should not cause scratching.

Darryl, do you have a contact in the P4U design shop that gave you that information?

You have been on ECF one month today. Happy ECF anniversary! Settle down.

I never trust a person that has to end their statement with, "Trust me!".

LOL! I meant trust me, as in I had a rewrapped batt that didn't fit in there. <--- ONLY THAT! Nothing more! RELAX!

And yes, I wrote to P4U regarding the added difficulty in inserting the battery over the mini v1, that is what they told me... that they designed the battery tube to more securely hold the batts in the mini II.

Hey Darryl, my order will be here tomorrow and I want to iron out any issue before I put new batteries in. I'm not getting the location on these threading burrs you speak of and don't have the mod in hand yet to check it out first hand. Any chance of a clear explanation of the exact location inside the battery tube or a pic if you could.

By the way, congrats on being a 'super', You averaged 30 posts a day:D

Yes, I'd be happy to be more specific!

The burrs on my mini v1 that were slicing the battery wrap were just beyond the threads for the battery cap inside the battery tube. So, when you get your mini v1, unscrew the battery cap and feel inside with your finger just where the end of the threading meets the unthreaded battery tube, approx. 3/8" inside the batt tube. Mine had a burr on each side.

If you meant the "bump" I spoke of on the mini II, it is about 2/3rds of the way down the batt tube on the screen side of the batt tube. A small indentation (bump) to make the batts fit better inside the tube than they did in the V1.

Here's a pic somebody posted earlier of the indentation:

Hope that helps!

:toast:Cheers, I appreciate the added insight. It wasn't the bump that I was concerned about as I read this entire thread and understand it's intended effect to reduce 'battery rattle', just was more concerned with ripping my wraps on new vtc's. When I get mine I'll be sure to feel around and poke some light down there.:thumb:

Did you order the V1 or V2?

I haven't seen it as an issue with the mini II!
